Psalms 88

A prayer containing a grievous complaint.

 88:1 [[A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the choir director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite.]] O LORD 3068, the God 430 of my salvation 3444, I have cried 6817 out by day 3117 and in the night 3915 before 5048 You.

 88:2 Let my prayer 8605 come 935 before 6440 You; Incline 5186 Your ear 241 to my cry 7440!

 88:3 For my soul 5315 has had 7646 enough 7646 troubles 7463a, And my life 2425b has drawn 5060 near 5060 to Sheol 7585.

 88:4 I am reckoned 2803 among 5973 those who go 3381 down 3381 to the pit 953a; I have 1961 become 1961 like a man 1397 without 369 strength 353,

 88:5 Forsaken 2670 among the dead 4191, Like 3644 the slain 2491a who lie 7901 in the grave 6913, Whom 834 You remember 2142 no 3808 more 5750, And they are cut 1504 off 1504 from Your hand 3027.

 88:6 You have put 7896 me in the lowest 8482 pit 953a, In dark 4285 places 4285, in the depths 4688.

 88:7 Your wrath 2534 has rested 5564 upon me, And You have afflicted 6031a me with all 3605 Your waves 4867. Selah 5542.

 88:8 You have removed 7368 my acquaintances 3045 far 7368 from me; You have made 7896 me an object 8441 of loathing 8441 to them; I am shut 3607 up and cannot 3808 go 3318 out.

 88:9 My eye 5869 has wasted 1669 away 1669 because 4480 of affliction 6040a; I have called 7121 upon You every 3605 day 3117, O LORD 3068; I have spread 7849 out my hands 3709 to You.

 88:10 ¶ Will You perform 6213a wonders 6382 for the dead 4191? Will the departed 7496 spirits 7496 rise 6965 [and] praise 3034 You? Selah 5542.

 88:11 Will Your lovingkindness 2617a be declared 5608 in the grave 6913, Your faithfulness 530 in Abaddon 11?

 88:12 Will Your wonders 6382 be made 3045 known 3045 in the darkness 2822? And Your righteousness 6666 in the land 776 of forgetfulness 5388?

 88:13 ¶ But I, O LORD 3068, have cried 7768 out to You for help 7768, And in the morning 1242 my prayer 8605 comes 6923 before 6923 You.

 88:14 O LORD 3068, why 4100 do You reject 2186a my soul 5315? [Why] do You hide 5641 Your face 6440 from me?

 88:15 I was afflicted 6041 and about to die 1478 from my youth 5290 on; I suffer 5375 Your terrors 367; I am overcome 647a.

 88:16 Your burning 2740 anger 2740 has passed 5674a over 5921 me; Your terrors 1161 have destroyed 6789 me.

 88:17 They have surrounded 5437 me like water 4325 all 3605 day 3117 long; They have encompassed 5362b me altogether 3162.

 88:18 You have removed 7368 lover 157 and friend 7453 far 7368 from me; My acquaintances 3045 are [in] darkness 4285.
