Psalms 79

1 The psalmist complaineth of the desolation of Jerusalem. 8 He prayeth for deliverance, 13 and promiseth thankfulness.

 79:1 [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] O God 430, the nations 1471 have invaded 935 Your inheritance 5159; They have defiled 2930 Your holy 6944 temple 1964; They have laid 7760 Jerusalem 3389 in ruins 5856.

 79:2 They have given 5414 the dead 5038 bodies 5038 of Your servants 5650 for food 3978 to the birds 5775 of the heavens 8064, The flesh 1320 of Your godly 2623 ones 2623 to the beasts 2421b of the earth 776.

 79:3 They have poured 8210 out their blood 1818 like water 4325 round 5439 about 5439 Jerusalem 3389; And there 369 was no 369 one 369 to bury 6912 them.

 79:4 We have 1961 become 1961 a reproach 2781 to our neighbors 7934, A scoffing 3933 and derision 7047 to those around 5439 us.

 79:5 How 4100 long 5704, O LORD 3068? Will You be angry 599 forever 5331? Will Your jealousy 7068 burn 1197a like 3644 fire 784?

 79:6 Pour 8210 out Your wrath 2534 upon the nations 1471 which 834 do not know 3045 You, And upon the kingdoms 4467 which 834 do not call 7121 upon Your name 8034.

 79:7 For they have devoured 398 Jacob 3290 And laid 8074 waste 8074 his habitation 5116a.

 79:8 ¶ Do not remember 2142 the iniquities 5771 of [our] forefathers 7223 against us; Let Your compassion 7356 come 6923 quickly 4118b to meet 6923 us, For we are brought 1809 very 3966 low 1809.

 79:9 Help 5826 us, O God 430 of our salvation 3468, for the glory 3519b of Your name 8034; And deliver 5337 us and forgive 3722a our sins 2403b for Your name’s 8034 sake 4616.

 79:10 Why 4100 should the nations 1471 say 559, “Where 346 is their God 430?” Let there be known 3045 among the nations 1471 in our sight 5869, Vengeance 5360 for the blood 1818 of Your servants 5650 which has been shed 8210.

 79:11 Let the groaning 603 of the prisoner 615 come 935 before 6440 You; According to the greatness 1433 of Your power 2220 preserve 3498 those 1121 who 1121 are doomed 1121 to die 8546.

 79:12 And return 7725 to our neighbors 7934 sevenfold 7659 into their bosom 2436 The reproach 2781 with which 834 they have reproached 2778a You, O Lord 136.

 79:13 So we Your people 5971a and the sheep 6629 of Your pasture 4830 Will give 3034 thanks 3034 to You forever 5769; To all 1755 generations 1755 we will tell 5608 of Your praise 8416.
