Psalms 35

1 David prayeth for this own safety, and his enemies' confusion. 11 He complaineth of their wrongful dealing. 22 Thereby he inciteth God against them.

 35:1 [[[A Psalm] of David.]] Contend 7378, O LORD 3068, with those who contend 3401 with me; Fight 3898a against 854 those who fight 3898a against me.

 35:2 Take 2388 hold 2388 of buckler 4043 and shield 6793c And rise 6965 up for my help 5833.

 35:3 Draw 7385a also the spear 2595 and the battle-axe 5462 to meet 7122 those who pursue 7291 me; Say 559 to my soul 5315, “I am your salvation 3444.”

 35:4 Let those be ashamed 954 and dishonored 3637 who seek 1245 my life 5315; Let those be turned 5472 back 268 and humiliated 3637 who devise 2803 evil 7463a against me.

 35:5 Let them be like chaff 4671b before 6440 the wind 7307, With the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 driving 1760 [them] on.

 35:6 Let their way 1870 be dark 2822 and slippery 2519, With the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 pursuing 7291 them.

 35:7 For without 2600 cause 2600 they hid 2934 their net 7568 for me; Without 2600 cause 2600 they dug 2658 a pit 7845 for my soul 5315.

 35:8 Let destruction 7724b come 935 upon him unawares 3808 3045, And let the net 7568 which 834 he hid 2934 catch 3920 himself; Into that very destruction 7724b let him fall 5307.

 35:9 ¶ And my soul 5315 shall rejoice 1523 in the LORD 3068; It shall exult 7797 in His salvation 3444.

 35:10 All 3605 my bones 6106 will say 559, “LORD 3068, who 4310 is like 3644 You, Who delivers 5337 the afflicted 6041 from him who 2389 is too 4480 strong 2389 for him, And the afflicted 6041 and the needy 34 from him who robs 1497 him?”

 35:11 Malicious 2555 witnesses 5707 rise 6965 up; They ask 7592 me of things that I do not know 3045.

 35:12 They repay 7999a me evil 7463a for good 2899b, [To] the bereavement 7908 of my soul 5315.

 35:13 But as for me, when they were sick 2470a, my clothing 3830 was sackcloth 8242; I humbled 6031a my soul 5315 with fasting 6685, And my prayer 8605 kept returning 7725 to my bosom 2436.

 35:14 I went 1980 about as though it were my friend 7453 or brother 251; I bowed 7817 down 7817 mourning 6937, as one 57 who 57 sorrows 57 for a mother 517.

 35:15 But at my stumbling 6761 they rejoiced 8055 and gathered 622 themselves together; The smiters 5222 whom I did not know 3045 gathered 622 together against 5921 me, They slandered 7167 me without 3808 ceasing 1826a.

 35:16 Like godless 2611 jesters 3934 at a feast 4580, They gnashed 2786 at me with their teeth 8127.

 35:17 ¶ Lord 136, how 4100 long 4100 will You look 7200 on? Rescue 7725 my soul 5315 from their ravages 7722, My only 3173 [life] from the lions 3715.

 35:18 I will give 3034 You thanks 3034 in the great 7227a congregation 6951; I will praise 1984b You among a mighty 6099 throng 5971a.

 35:19 Do not let those who are wrongfully 8267 my enemies 340 rejoice 8055 over me; Nor let those who hate 8130 me without 2600 cause 2600 wink 7169 maliciously 7169 5869.

 35:20 For they do not speak 1696 peace 7965, But they devise 2803 deceitful 4820 words 1697 against 5921 those who 7282 are quiet 7282 in the land 776.

 35:21 They opened 7337 their mouth 6310 wide 7337 against 5921 me; They said 559, “Aha 1889, aha 1889, our eyes 5869 have seen 7200 it!”

 35:22 ¶ You have seen 7200 it, O LORD 3068, do not keep 2790b silent 2790b; O Lord 136, do not be far 7368 from me.

 35:23 Stir 5782 up Yourself, and awake 7019a to my right 4941 And to my cause 7379, my God 430 and my Lord 136.

 35:24 Judge 8199 me, O LORD 3068 my God 430, according to Your righteousness 6664, And do not let them rejoice 8055 over me.

 35:25 Do not let them say 559 in their heart 3820, “Aha 1889, our desire 5315!” Do not let them say 559, “We have swallowed 1104 him up!”

 35:26 Let those be ashamed 954 and humiliated 2659 altogether 3164a who rejoice 8056 at my distress 7463a; Let those be clothed 3847 with shame 1322 and dishonor 3639 who magnify 1431 themselves over 5921 me.

 35:27 ¶ Let them shout 7442 for joy 7442 and rejoice 8055, who 2655 favor 2655 my vindication 6664; And let them say 559 continually 8548, “The LORD 3068 be magnified 1431, Who 2655 delights 2655 in the prosperity 7965 of His servant 5650.”

 35:28 And my tongue 3956 shall declare 1897 Your righteousness 6664 [And] Your praise 8416 all 3605 day 3117 long.
