אֵלֶּה תֹּלְדוֹת יַעֲקֹב יוֹסֵף בֶּן־שְׁבַע־עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה הָיָה רֹעֶה אֶת־אֶחָיו בַּצֹּאן וְהוּא נַעַר אֶת־בְּנֵי בִלְהָה וְאֶת־בְּנֵי זִלְפָּה נְשֵׁי אָבִיו וַיָּבֵא יוֹסֵף אֶת־דִּבָּתָם רָעָה אֶל־אֲבִיהֶם

 37:2 ëLeh Tol'dôt yaáqov yôšëf Ben-sh'va-es'rëh shänäh häyäh roeh et-echäyw BaTZon w'hû naar et-B'nëy vil'häh w'et-B'nëy zil'Päh n'shëy äviyw waYävë yôšëf et-DiBätäm rääh el-áviyhem

 37:2 These x428 [are] the generations 8435 of Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב. 3290 Yôsëf יוֹסֵף, 3130 [being] seventeen 6240 7651 years 8141 old, 1121 was x1961 feeding 7462 z8802 the flock 6629 with x854 his brethren; 251 and the lad 5288 [was] with x854 the sons 1121 of Bilhà בִּלהָה, 1090 and with x854 the sons 1121 of Zilpà זִלפָּה, 2153 his father's 1 wives: 802 and Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 brought 935 z8686 unto x413 his father 1 their x853 evil 7451 report. 1681

וְיִשְׂרָאֵל אָהַב אֶת־יוֹסֵף מִכָּל־בָּנָיו כִּי־בֶן־זְקֻנִים הוּא לוֹ וְעָשָׂה לוֹ כְּתֹנֶת פַּסִּים

וַיִּרְאוּ אֶחָיו כִּי־אֹתוֹ אָהַב אֲבִיהֶם מִכָּל־אֶחָיו וַיִּשְׂנְאוּ אֹתוֹ וְלֹא יָכְלוּ דַּבְּרוֹ לְשָׁלֹם

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שִׁמְעוּ־נָא הַחֲלוֹם הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר חָלָמְתִּי

 37:6 waYomer álëyhem shim'û-nä hachálôm haZeh ásher chäläm'Tiy

וְהִנֵּה אֲנַחְנוּ מְאַלְּמִים אֲלֻמִּים בְּתוֹךְ הַשָּׂדֶה וְהִנֵּה קָמָה אֲלֻמָּתִי וְגַם־נִצָּבָה וְהִנֵּה תְסֻבֶּינָה אֲלֻמֹּתֵיכֶם וַתִּשְׁתַּחֲוֶיןָ לַאֲלֻמָּתִי

וַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ אֶחָיו הֲמָלֹךְ תִּמְלֹךְ עָלֵינוּ אִם־מָשׁוֹל תִּמְשֹׁל בָּנוּ וַיּוֹסִפוּ עוֹד שְׂנֹא אֹתוֹ עַל־חֲלֹמֹתָיו וְעַל־דְּבָרָיו

 37:8 waYom'rû lô echäyw hámälokh' Tim'lokh' älëynû im-mäshôl Tim'shol Bänû waYôšifû ôd s'no otô al-chálomotäyw w'al-D'väräyw

 37:8 And his brethren 251 said 559 z8799 to him, Shalt thou indeed y4427 z8800 reign 4427 z8799 over x5921 us? or x518 shalt thou indeed y4910 z8800 have dominion 4910 z8799 over us? And they hated 8130 z8800 him yet x5750 the more 3254 z8686 for x5921 his dreams, 2472 and for x5921 his words. 1697

 37:9 ¶ And he dreamed 2492 z8799 yet x5750 another 312 dream, 2472 and told 5608 z8762 it his brethren, 251 and said, 559 z8799 Behold, x2009 I have dreamed 2492 z8804 a dream 2472 more; x5750 and, behold, x2009 the sun 8121 and the moon 3394 and the eleven 6240 259 stars 3556 made obeisance 7812 z8693 to me.

וַיְסַפֵּר אֶל־אָבִיו וְאֶל־אֶחָיו וַיִּגְעַר־בּוֹ אָבִיו וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ מָה הַחֲלוֹם הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר חָלָמְתָּ הֲבוֹא נָבוֹא אֲנִי וְאִמְּךָ וְאַחֶיךָ לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לְךָ אָרְצָה

וַיְקַנְאוּ־בוֹ אֶחָיו וְאָבִיו שָׁמַר אֶת־הַדָּבָר

 37:11 way'qan'û-vô echäyw w'äviyw shämar et-haDävär

 37:11 And his brethren 251 envied 7065 z8762 him; but his father 1 observed 8104 z8804 x853 the saying. 1697

וַיֵּלְכוּ אֶחָיו לִרְעוֹת אֶת־צֹאן אֲבִיהֶם בִּשְׁכֶם

 37:12 waYël'khû echäyw lir'ôt et-tzon áviyhem Bish'khem

 37:12 ¶ And his brethren 251 went y3212 z8799 x1980 to feed 7462 z8800 x853 their father's 1 flock 6629 in Šæȼem שְׁכֶם. 7927

וַיֹּאמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־יוֹסֵף הֲלוֹא אַחֶיךָ רֹעִים בִּשְׁכֶם לְכָה וְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָ אֲלֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ הִנֵּנִי

 37:13 And Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל 3478 said 559 z8799 unto x413 Yôsëf יוֹסֵף, 3130 Do not x3808 thy brethren 251 feed 7462 z8802 [the flock] in Šæȼem שְׁכֶם? 7927 come, y3212 z8798 x1980 and I will send x7971 thee y7971 z8799 unto x413 them. And he said 559 z8799 to him, Here x2009 [am I].

וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ לֶךְ־נָא רְאֵה אֶת־שְׁלוֹם אַחֶיךָ וְאֶת־שְׁלוֹם הַצֹּאן וַהֲשִׁבֵנִי דָּבָר וַיִּשְׁלָחֵהוּ מֵעֵמֶק חֶבְרוֹן וַיָּבֹא שְׁכֶמָה

 37:14 waYomer lô lekh'-nä r'ëh et-sh'lôm acheykhä w'et-sh'lôm haTZon waháshivëniy Dävär waYish'lächëhû mëëmeq chev'rôn waYävo sh'khemäh

 37:14 And he said 559 z8799 to him, Go, y3212 z8798 x1980 I pray thee, x4994 see 7200 z8798 whether x853 it be well 7965 with thy brethren, 251 and well 7965 with the flocks; 6629 and bring 7725 z0 me word 1697 again. y7725 z8685 So he sent 7971 z8799 him out of the vale 6010 x4480 of Çevrôn חֶברוֹן, 2275 and he came 935 z8799 to Šæȼem שְׁכֶם. 7927

וַיִּמְצָאֵהוּ אִישׁ וְהִנֵּה תֹעֶה בַּשָּׂדֶה וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּ הָאִישׁ לֵאמֹר מַה־תְּבַקֵּשׁ

 37:15 waYim'tzäëhû iysh w'hiNëh toeh BaSädeh waYish'älëhû häiysh lëmor mah-T'vaQësh

 37:15 ¶ And a certain man 376 found x4672 him, y4672 z8799 and, behold, x2009 [he was] wandering 8582 z8802 in the field: 7704 and the man 376 asked x7592 him, y7592 z8799 saying, 559 z8800 What x4100 seekest 1245 z8762 thou?

וַיֹּאמֶר אֶת־אַחַי אָנֹכִי מְבַקֵּשׁ הַגִּידָה־נָּא לִי אֵיפֹה הֵם רֹעִים

 37:16 waYomer et-achay änokhiy m'vaQësh haGiydäh-Nä liy ëyfoh hëm roiym

 37:16 And he said, 559 z8799 I x595 seek 1245 z8764 x853 my brethren: 251 tell 5046 z8685 me, I pray thee, x4994 where 375 they x1992 feed 7462 z8802 [their flocks].

וַיֹּאמֶר הָאִישׁ נָסְעוּ מִזֶּה כִּי שָׁמַעְתִּי אֹמְרִים נֵלְכָה דֹּתָיְנָה וַיֵּלֶךְ יוֹסֵף אַחַר אֶחָיו וַיִּמְצָאֵם בְּדֹתָן

 37:17 waYomer häiysh näš'û miZeh Kiy shäma'Tiy om'riym nël'khäh Dotäy'näh waYëlekh' yôšëf achar echäyw waYim'tzäëm B'dotän

 37:17 And the man 376 said, 559 z8799 They are departed 5265 z8804 hence; 2088 x4480 for x3588 I heard 8085 z8804 them say, 559 z8802 Let us go y3212 z8799 x1980 to Döŧän דֹּתָן. 1886 And Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 went y3212 z8799 x1980 after 310 his brethren, 251 and found 4672 z8799 them in Döŧän דֹּתָן. 1886

וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתוֹ מֵרָחֹק וּבְטֶרֶם יִקְרַב אֲלֵיהֶם וַיִּתְנַכְּלוּ אֹתוֹ לַהֲמִיתוֹ

 37:18 waYir'û otô mërächoq ûv'ţerem yiq'rav álëyhem waYit'naK'lû otô lahámiytô

 37:18 And when they saw 7200 z8799 him afar off, 7350 x4480 even before x2962 he came near 7126 z8799 unto x413 them, they conspired 5230 z8691 against him to slay 4191 z8687 him.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל־אָחִיו הִנֵּה בַּעַל הַחֲלֹמוֹת הַלָּזֶה בָּא

וְעַתָּה לְכוּ וְנַהַרְגֵהוּ וְנַשְׁלִכֵהוּ בְּאַחַד הַבֹּרוֹת וְאָמַרְנוּ חַיָּה רָעָה אֲכָלָתְהוּ וְנִרְאֶה מַה־יִּהְיוּ חֲלֹמֹתָיו

וַיִּשְׁמַע רְאוּבֵן וַיַּצִּלֵהוּ מִיָּדָם וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא נַכֶּנּוּ נָפֶשׁ

 37:21 And Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן 7205 heard 8085 z8799 [it], and he delivered 5337 z8686 him out of their hands; 3027 x4480 and said, 559 z8799 Let us not x3808 kill 5221 z8686 y5315 him.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם רְאוּבֵן אַל־תִּשְׁפְּכוּ־דָם הַשְׁלִיכוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל־הַבּוֹר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר בַּמִּדְבָּר וְיָד אַל־תִּשְׁלְחוּ־בוֹ לְמַעַן הַצִּיל אֹתוֹ מִיָּדָם לַהֲשִׁיבוֹ אֶל־אָבִיו

 37:22 And Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן 7205 said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Shed 8210 z8799 no x408 blood, 1818 [but] cast 7993 z8685 him into x413 this x2088 pit 953 that x834 [is] in the wilderness, 4057 and lay 7971 z8799 no x408 hand 3027 upon him; that x4616 he might rid 5337 z8687 him out of their hands, 3027 x4480 to deliver 7725 z0 him to x413 his father 1 again. y7725 z8687

 37:23 ¶ And it came to pass, x1961 when x834 Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 was come 935 z8804 unto x413 his brethren, 251 that they stript 6584 853 z8686 Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 out of y854 x853 his coat, 3801 [his] x853 coat 3801 of [many] colours 6446 that x834 [was] on x5921 him;

וַיִּקָּחֻהוּ וַיַּשְׁלִכוּ אֹתוֹ הַבֹּרָה וְהַבּוֹר רֵק אֵין בּוֹ מָיִם

 37:24 waYiQächuhû waYash'likhû otô haBoräh w'haBôr rëq ëyn Bô mäyim

 37:24 And they took 3947 z8799 him, and cast 7993 z8686 him into a pit: 953 and the pit 953 [was] empty, 7386 [there was] no x369 water 4325 in it.

וַיֵּשְׁבוּ לֶאֱכָל־לֶחֶם וַיִּשְׂאוּ עֵינֵיהֶם וַיִּרְאוּ וְהִנֵּה אֹרְחַת יִשְׁמְעֵאלִים בָּאָה מִגִּלְעָד וּגְמַלֵּיהֶם נֹשְׂאִים נְכֹאת וּצְרִי וָלֹט הוֹלְכִים לְהוֹרִיד מִצְרָיְמָה

 37:25 And they sat down 3427 z8799 to eat 398 z8800 bread: 3899 and they lifted up 5375 z8799 their eyes 5869 and looked, 7200 z8799 and, behold, x2009 a company 736 of Yišmæ`ë´lîm יִשׁמְעֵאלִים 3459 came 935 z8802 from Gil`äđ גִּלעָד 1568 x4480 with their camels 1581 bearing 5375 z8802 spicery 5219 and balm 6875 and myrrh, 3910 going 1980 z8802 to carry [it] down 3381 z8687 to Mixrayim מִצרַיִם. 4714

 37:26 waYomer y'hûdäh el-echäyw mah-Betza Kiy nahárog et-ächiynû w'khiŠiynû et-Dämô

 37:26 And Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה 3063 said 559 z8799 unto x413 his brethren, 251 What x4100 profit 1215 [is it] if x3588 we slay 2026 z8799 x853 our brother, 251 and conceal 3680 z8765 x853 his blood? 1818

לְכוּ וְנִמְכְּרֶנּוּ לַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִים וְיָדֵנוּ אַל־תְּהִי־בוֹ כִּי־אָחִינוּ בְשָׂרֵנוּ הוּא וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ אֶחָיו

 37:27 l'khû w'nim'K'reNû laYish'm'ëliym w'yädënû al-T'hiy-vô Kiy-ächiynû v'särënû hû waYish'm'û echäyw

 37:27 Come, y3212 z8798 x1980 and let us sell 4376 z8799 him to the Yišmæ`ë´lîm יִשׁמְעֵאלִים, 3459 and let not x408 our hand 3027 be x1961 upon him; for x3588 he x1931 [is] our brother 251 [and] our flesh. 1320 And his brethren 251 were content. 8085 z8799

וַיַּעַבְרוּ אֲנָשִׁים מִדְיָנִים סֹחֲרִים וַיִּמְשְׁכוּ וַיַּעֲלוּ אֶת־יוֹסֵף מִן־הַבּוֹר וַיִּמְכְּרוּ אֶת־יוֹסֵף לַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִים בְּעֶשְׂרִים כָּסֶף וַיָּבִיאוּ אֶת־יוֹסֵף מִצְרָיְמָה

 37:28 waYaav'rû ánäshiym mid'yäniym šocháriym waYim'sh'khû waYaálû et-yôšëf min-haBôr waYim'K'rû et-yôšëf laYish'm'ëliym B'es'riym Käšef waYäviyû et-yôšëf mitz'räy'mäh

 37:29 ¶ And Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן 7205 returned 7725 z8799 unto x413 the pit; 953 and, behold, x2009 Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 [was] not x369 in the pit; 953 and he rent 7167 z8799 x853 his clothes. 899

וַיָּשָׁב אֶל־אֶחָיו וַיֹּאמַר הַיֶּלֶד אֵינֶנּוּ וַאֲנִי אָנָה אֲנִי־בָא

וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־כְּתֹנֶת יוֹסֵף וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּ שְׂעִיר עִזִּים וַיִּטְבְּלוּ אֶת־הַכֻּתֹּנֶת בַּדָּם

 37:31 And they took 3947 z8799 x853 Yôsëf's יוֹסֵף 3130 coat, 3801 and killed 7819 z8799 a kid 8163 of the goats, 5795 and dipped 2881 z8799 x853 the coat 3801 in the blood; 1818

וַיְשַׁלְּחוּ אֶת־כְּתֹנֶת הַפַּסִּים וַיָּבִיאוּ אֶל־אֲבִיהֶם וַיֹּאמְרוּ זֹאת מָצָאנוּ הַכֶּר־נָא הַכְּתֹנֶת בִּנְךָ הִוא אִם־לֹא

 37:32 way'shaL'chû et-K'tonet haPaŠiym waYäviyû el-áviyhem waYom'rû zot mätzänû haKer-nä haK'tonet Bin'khä hiw im-lo

וַיַּכִּירָהּ וַיֹּאמֶר כְּתֹנֶת בְּנִי חַיָּה רָעָה אֲכָלָתְהוּ טָרֹף טֹרַף יוֹסֵף

 37:33 waYaKiyräH waYomer K'tonet B'niy chaYäh rääh ákhälät'hû ţärof ţoraf yôšëf

 37:33 And he knew x5234 it, y5234 z8686 and said, 559 z8799 [It is] my son's 1121 coat; 3801 an evil 7451 beast 2416 hath devoured 398 z8804 him; Yôsëf יוֹסֵף 3130 is without doubt y2963 z8800 rent in pieces. 2963 z8776

וַיִּקְרַע יַעֲקֹב שִׂמְלֹתָיו וַיָּשֶׂם שַׂק בְּמָתְנָיו וַיִּתְאַבֵּל עַל־בְּנוֹ יָמִים רַבִּים

 37:34 waYiq'ra yaáqov sim'lotäyw waYäsem saq B'mät'näyw waYit'aBël al-B'nô yämiym raBiym

 37:34 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 rent 7167 z8799 his clothes, 8071 and put 7760 z8799 sackcloth 8242 upon his loins, 4975 and mourned 56 z8691 for x5921 his son 1121 many 7227 days. 3117

וַיָּקֻמוּ כָל־בָּנָיו וְכָל־בְּנֹתָיו לְנַחֲמוֹ וַיְמָאֵן לְהִתְנַחֵם וַיֹּאמֶר כִּי־אֵרֵד אֶל־בְּנִי אָבֵל שְׁאֹלָה וַיֵּבְךְּ אֹתוֹ אָבִיו

 37:35 waYäqumû khäl-Bänäyw w'khäl-B'notäyw l'nachámô way'mäën l'hit'nachëm waYomer Kiy-ërëd el-B'niy ävël sh'oläh waYëv'K' otô äviyw

 37:35 And all x3605 his sons 1121 and all x3605 his daughters 1323 rose up 6965 z8799 to comfort 5162 z8763 him; but he refused 3985 z8762 to be comforted; 5162 z8692 and he said, 559 z8799 For x3588 I will go down 3381 z8799 into the grave 7585 unto x413 my son 1121 mourning. 57 Thus his father 1 wept 1058 z8799 for him.

וְהַמְּדָנִים מָכְרוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל־מִצְרָיִם לְפוֹטִיפַר סְרִיס פַּרְעֹה שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים פ

 37:36 w'haM'däniym mäkh'rû otô el-mitz'räyim l'fôţiyfar š'riyš Par'oh sar haŢaBächiym f

 37:36 And the Miđyänîm מִדיָנִים 4092 sold 4376 z8804 him into x413 Mixrayim מִצרַיִם 4714 unto Pôţîfar פּוֹטִיפַר, 6318 an officer 5631 of Par`ò's פַּרעֹה, 6547 [and] captain 8269 of the guard. 2876
