 16:1 ¶ Now Ŝäray שָׂרַי 8297 ´Avräm's אַברָם 87 wife 802 bare y3205 z0 him no y3808 children: 3205 z8804 x3808 and she had an handmaid, 8198 a Mixrî מִצרִי, 4713 whose name 8034 [was] Häqär הָגָר. 1904

וַתֹּאמֶר שָׂרַי אֶל־אַבְרָם הִנֵּה־נָא עֲצָרַנִי יְהוָה מִלֶּדֶת בֹּא־נָא אֶל־שִׁפְחָתִי אוּלַי אִבָּנֶה מִמֵּנָּה וַיִּשְׁמַע אַבְרָם לְקוֹל שָׂרָי

 16:2 And Ŝäray שָׂרַי 8297 said 559 z8799 unto x413 ´Avräm אַברָם, 87 Behold x2009 now, x4994 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath restrained x6113 me y6113 z8804 from bearing: 3205 z8800 x4480 I pray thee, x4994 go in 935 z8798 unto x413 my maid; 8198 it may y194 be x194 that I may obtain children 1129 z8735 by x4480 her. And ´Avräm אַברָם 87 hearkened 8085 z8799 to the voice 6963 of Ŝäray שָׂרַי. 8297

וַתִּקַּח שָׂרַי אֵשֶׁת־אַבְרָם אֶת־הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית שִׁפְחָתָהּ מִקֵּץ עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים לְשֶׁבֶת אַבְרָם בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַתִּתֵּן אֹתָהּ לְאַבְרָם אִישָׁהּ לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה

 16:3 waTiQach säray ëshet-av'räm et-hägär haMitz'riyt shif'chätäH miQëtz eser shäniym l'shevet av'räm B'eretz K'näan waTiTën otäH l'av'räm iyshäH lô l'iSHäh

 16:3 And Ŝäray שָׂרַי 8297 ´Avräm's אַברָם 87 wife 802 took 3947 z8799 x853 Häqär הָגָר 1904 her maid 8198 the Mixrî מִצרִי, 4713 after 7093 x4480 ´Avräm אַברָם 87 had dwelt 3427 z8800 ten 6235 years 8141 in the land 776 of Cænä`an כְּנָעַן, 3667 and gave 5414 z8799 her to her husband 376 ´Avräm אַברָם 87 to be his wife. 802

וַיָּבֹא אֶל־הָגָר וַתַּהַר וַתֵּרֶא כִּי הָרָתָה וַתֵּקַל גְּבִרְתָּהּ בְּעֵינֶיהָ

 16:4 ¶ And he went in 935 z8799 unto x413 Häqär הָגָר, 1904 and she conceived: 2029 z8799 and when she saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 she had conceived, 2029 z8804 her mistress 1404 was despised 7043 z8799 in her eyes. 5869

וַתֹּאמֶר שָׂרַי אֶל־אַבְרָם חֲמָסִי עָלֶיךָ אָנֹכִי נָתַתִּי שִׁפְחָתִי בְּחֵיקֶךָ וַתֵּרֶא כִּי הָרָתָה וָאֵקַל בְּעֵינֶיהָ יִשְׁפֹּט יְהוָה בֵּינִי וּבֵינֶיךָ

 16:5 And Ŝäray שָׂרַי 8297 said 559 z8799 unto x413 ´Avräm אַברָם, 87 My wrong 2555 [be] upon x5921 thee: I x595 have given 5414 z8804 my maid 8198 into thy bosom; 2436 and when she saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 she had conceived, 2029 z8804 I was despised 7043 z8799 in her eyes: 5869 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 judge 8199 z8799 between x996 me and thee.

וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָם אֶל־שָׂרַי הִנֵּה שִׁפְחָתֵךְ בְּיָדֵךְ עֲשִׂי־לָהּ הַטּוֹב בְּעֵינָיִךְ וַתְּעַנֶּהָ שָׂרַי וַתִּבְרַח מִפָּנֶיהָ

 16:6 But ´Avräm אַברָם 87 said 559 z8799 unto x413 Ŝäray שָׂרַי, 8297 Behold, x2009 thy maid 8198 [is] in thy hand; 3027 do 6213 z8798 to her as it pleaseth x2896 x5869 thee. y2896 y5869 And when Ŝäray שָׂרַי 8297 dealt hardly x6031 with y6031 z8762 her, she fled 1272 z8799 from her face. 6440 x4480

וַיִּמְצָאָהּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה עַל־עֵין הַמַּיִם בַּמִּדְבָּר עַל־הָעַיִן בְּדֶרֶךְ שׁוּר

 16:7 ¶ And the angel 4397 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 found x4672 her y4672 z8799 by x5921 a fountain 5869 of water 4325 in the wilderness, 4057 by x5921 the fountain 5869 in the way 1870 to Šûr שׁוּר. 7793

וַיֹּאמַר הָגָר שִׁפְחַת שָׂרַי אֵי־מִזֶּה בָאת וְאָנָה תֵלֵכִי וַתֹּאמֶר מִפְּנֵי שָׂרַי גְּבִרְתִּי אָנֹכִי בֹּרַחַת

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה שׁוּבִי אֶל־גְּבִרְתֵּךְ וְהִתְעַנִּי תַּחַת יָדֶיהָ

 16:9 And the angel 4397 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 said 559 z8799 unto her, Return 7725 z8798 to x413 thy mistress, 1404 and submit y6031 z8690 thyself x6031 under x8478 her hands. 3027

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה הַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה אֶת־זַרְעֵךְ וְלֹא יִסָּפֵר מֵרֹב

 16:10 waYomer läH mal'akh' y'hwäh har'Bäh ar'Beh et-zar'ëkh' w'lo yiŠäfër mërov

 16:10 And the angel 4397 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 said 559 z8799 unto her, I will multiply y7235 z8686 thy seed y2233 exceedingly, 7235 z8687 x853 x2233 that it shall not x3808 be numbered 5608 z8735 for multitude. 7230 x4480

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה הִנָּךְ הָרָה וְיֹלַדְתְּ בֵּן וְקָרָאת שְׁמוֹ יִשְׁמָעֵאל כִּי־שָׁמַע יְהוָה אֶל־עָנְיֵךְ

 16:11 waYomer läH mal'akh' y'hwäh hiNäkh' häräh w'yolad'T' Bën w'qärät sh'mô yish'mäël Kiy-shäma y'hwäh el-än'yëkh'

 16:11 And the angel 4397 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 said 559 z8799 unto her, Behold, 2009 thou [art] with child, 2030 and shalt bear 3205 z8802 a son, 1121 and shalt call 7121 z8804 his name 8034 Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל; 3458 because x3588 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath heard 8085 z8804 x413 thy affliction. 6040

וְהוּא יִהְיֶה פֶּרֶא אָדָם יָדוֹ בַכֹּל וְיַד כֹּל בּוֹ וְעַל־פְּנֵי כָל־אֶחָיו יִשְׁכֹּן

 16:12 w'hû yih'yeh Pere ädäm yädô vaKol w'yad Kol Bô w'al-P'nëy khäl-echäyw yish'Kon

 16:12 And he x1931 will be x1961 a wild 6501 man; 120 his hand 3027 [will be] against every man, x3605 and every man's x3605 hand 3027 against him; and he shall dwell 7931 z8799 in the presence 6440 x5921 of all x3605 his brethren. 251

וַתִּקְרָא שֵׁם־יְהוָה הַדֹּבֵר אֵלֶיהָ אַתָּה אֵל רֳאִי כִּי אָמְרָה הֲגַם הֲלֹם רָאִיתִי אַחֲרֵי רֹאִי

 16:13 waTiq'rä shëm-y'hwäh haDovër ëleyhä aTäh ël róiy Kiy äm'räh hágam hálom räiytiy achárëy roiy

 16:13 And she called 7121 z8799 the name 8034 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 that spake 1696 z8802 unto x413 her, Thou x859 ´Ël אֵל 410 seest x7210 me: y7210 for x3588 she said, 559 z8804 Have I also x1571 here 1988 looked 7200 z8804 after x310 him y310 that seeth x7200 me? y7210

עַל־כֵּן קָרָא לַבְּאֵר בְּאֵר לַחַי רֹאִי הִנֵּה בֵין־קָדֵשׁ וּבֵין בָּרֶד

 16:14 al-Kën qärä laB'ër B'ër lachay roiy hiNëh vëyn-qädësh ûvëyn Bäred

 16:14 Wherefore x5921 x3651 the well 875 was called 7121 z8804 Bæ´ër Laçay Rö´î בְּאֵר־לַחַי־רֹאִי; 883 y2416 behold, x2009 [it is] between x996 Käđëš קָדֵשׁ 6946 and Bäređ בָּרֶד. 1260

וַתֵּלֶד הָגָר לְאַבְרָם בֵּן וַיִּקְרָא אַבְרָם שֶׁם־בְּנוֹ אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָה הָגָר יִשְׁמָעֵאל

 16:15 ¶ And Häqär הָגָר 1904 bare 3205 z8799 ´Avräm אַברָם 87 a son: 1121 and ´Avräm אַברָם 87 called 7121 z8799 his son's 1121 name, 8034 which x834 Häqär הָגָר 1904 bare, 3205 z8804 Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל. 3458

וְאַבְרָם בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה וְשֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים בְּלֶדֶת־הָגָר אֶת־יִשְׁמָעֵאל לְאַבְרָם ס

 16:16 w'av'räm Ben-sh'moniym shänäh w'shësh shäniym B'ledet-hägär et-yish'mäël l'av'räm š

 16:16 And ´Avräm אַברָם 87 [was] fourscore 8084 y8141 and six 8337 years 8141 old, 1121 when Häqär הָגָר 1904 bare 3205 z8800 x853 Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל 3458 to ´Avräm אַברָם. 87
