 29:1 ¶ Then Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 went on y5375 z8799 his journey, 7272 x5375 and came y3212 z8799 x1980 into the land 776 of the people 1121 of the east. 6924

וַיַּרְא וְהִנֵּה בְאֵר בַּשָּׂדֶה וְהִנֵּה־שָׁם שְׁלֹשָׁה עֶדְרֵי־צֹאן רֹבְצִים עָלֶיהָ כִּי מִן־הַבְּאֵר הַהִוא יַשְׁקוּ הָעֲדָרִים וְהָאֶבֶן גְּדֹלָה עַל־פִּי הַבְּאֵר

 29:2 waYar' w'hiNëh v'ër BaSädeh w'hiNëh-shäm sh'loshäh ed'rëy-tzon rov'tziym äleyhä Kiy min-haB'ër hahiw yash'qû häádäriym w'häeven G'doläh al-Piy haB'ër

 29:2 And he looked, 7200 z8799 and behold x2009 a well 875 in the field, 7704 and, lo, x2009 there x8033 [were] three 7969 flocks 5739 of sheep 6629 lying 7257 z8802 by x5921 it; for x3588 out of x4480 that x1931 well 875 they watered 8248 z8686 the flocks: 5739 and a great 1419 stone 68 [was] upon x5921 the well's 875 mouth. 6310

וְנֶאֶסְפוּ־שָׁמָּה כָל־הָעֲדָרִים וְגָלֲלוּ אֶת־הָאֶבֶן מֵעַל פִּי הַבְּאֵר וְהִשְׁקוּ אֶת־הַצֹּאן וְהֵשִׁיבוּ אֶת־הָאֶבֶן עַל־פִּי הַבְּאֵר לִמְקֹמָהּ

 29:3 w'neeš'fû-shäMäh khäl-häádäriym w'gälálû et-häeven mëal Piy haB'ër w'hish'qû et-haTZon w'hëshiyvû et-häeven al-Piy haB'ër lim'qomäH

 29:3 And thither x8033 were all x3605 the flocks 5739 gathered: 622 z8738 and they rolled 1556 z8804 x853 the stone 68 from x4480 x5921 the well's 875 mouth, 6310 and watered 8248 z8689 x853 the sheep, 6629 and put 7725 z0 x853 the stone 68 again y7725 z8689 upon x5921 the well's 875 mouth 6310 in his place. 4725

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם יַעֲקֹב אַחַי מֵאַיִן אַתֶּם וַיֹּאמְרוּ מֵחָרָן אֲנָחְנוּ

 29:4 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 said 559 z8799 unto them, My brethren, 251 whence 370 x4480 [be] ye? x859 And they said, 559 z8799 Of Çärän חָרָן 2771 x4480 [are] we. x587

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם הַיְדַעְתֶּם אֶת־לָבָן בֶּן־נָחוֹר וַיֹּאמְרוּ יָדָעְנוּ

 29:5 waYomer lähem hay'da'Tem et-lävän Ben-nächôr waYom'rû yädä'nû

 29:5 And he said 559 z8799 unto them, Know 3045 z8804 ye x853 Lävän לָבָן 3837 the son 1121 of Näçôr נָחוֹר? 5152 And they said, 559 z8799 We know 3045 z8804 [him].

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם הֲשָׁלוֹם לוֹ וַיֹּאמְרוּ שָׁלוֹם וְהִנֵּה רָחֵל בִּתּוֹ בָּאָה עִם־הַצֹּאן

 29:6 waYomer lähem háshälôm lô waYom'rû shälôm w'hiNëh rächël BiTô Bääh im-haTZon

 29:6 And he said 559 z8799 unto them, [Is] he well? 7965 And they said, 559 z8799 [He is] well: 7965 and, behold, x2009 Räçël רָחֵל 7354 his daughter 1323 cometh 935 z8802 with x5973 the sheep. 6629

וַיֹּאמֶר הֵן עוֹד הַיּוֹם גָּדוֹל לֹא־עֵת הֵאָסֵף הַמִּקְנֶה הַשְׁקוּ הַצֹּאן וּלְכוּ רְעוּ

 29:7 And he said, 559 z8799 Lo, 2005 [it is] yet x5750 high 1419 day, 3117 neither x3808 [is it] time 6256 that the cattle 4735 should be gathered together: 622 z8736 water 8248 z8685 ye the sheep, 6629 and go y3212 z8798 x1980 [and] feed 7462 z8798 [them].

וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֹא נוּכַל עַד אֲשֶׁר יֵאָסְפוּ כָּל־הָעֲדָרִים וְגָלֲלוּ אֶת־הָאֶבֶן מֵעַל פִּי הַבְּאֵר וְהִשְׁקִינוּ הַצֹּאן

 29:8 waYom'rû lo nûkhal ad ásher yëäš'fû Käl-häádäriym w'gälálû et-häeven mëal Piy haB'ër w'hish'qiynû haTZon

 29:8 And they said, 559 z8799 We cannot, 3201 z8799 x3808 until x5704 x834 all x3605 the flocks 5739 be gathered together, 622 z8735 and [till] they roll 1556 z8804 x853 the stone 68 from x4480 x5921 the well's 875 mouth; 6310 then we water 8248 z8689 the sheep. 6629

עוֹדֶנּוּ מְדַבֵּר עִמָּם וְרָחֵל בָּאָה עִם־הַצֹּאן אֲשֶׁר לְאָבִיהָ כִּי רֹעָה הִוא

 29:9 ôdeNû m'daBër iMäm w'rächël Bääh im-haTZon ásher l'äviyhä Kiy roäh hiw

וַיִּשַּׁק יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל וַיִּשָּׂא אֶת־קֹלוֹ וַיֵּבְךְּ

וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא וְכִי בֶן־רִבְקָה הוּא וַתָּרָץ וַתַּגֵּד לְאָבִיהָ

 29:12 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 told 5046 z8686 Räçël רָחֵל 7354 that x3588 he x1931 [was] her father's 1 brother, 251 and that x3588 he x1931 [was] Rivkà's רִבקָה 7259 son: 1121 and she ran 7323 z8799 and told 5046 z8686 her father. 1

וַיְהִי כִשְׁמֹעַ לָבָן אֶת־שֵׁמַע יַעֲקֹב בֶּן־אֲחֹתוֹ וַיָּרָץ לִקְרָאתוֹ וַיְחַבֶּק־לוֹ וַיְנַשֶּׁק־לוֹ וַיְבִיאֵהוּ אֶל־בֵּיתוֹ וַיְסַפֵּר לְלָבָן אֵת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה

וַיֹּאמֶר לָבָן לְיַעֲקֹב הֲכִי־אָחִי אַתָּה וַעֲבַדְתַּנִי חִנָּם הַגִּידָה לִּי מַה־מַּשְׂכֻּרְתֶּךָ

 29:15 ¶ And Lävän לָבָן 3837 said 559 z8799 unto Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב, 3290 Because x3588 thou x859 [art] my brother, 251 shouldest thou therefore serve 5647 z8804 me for nought? 2600 tell 5046 z8685 me, what x4100 [shall] thy wages 4909 [be]?

וּלְלָבָן שְׁתֵּי בָנוֹת שֵׁם הַגְּדֹלָה לֵאָה וְשֵׁם הַקְּטַנָּה רָחֵל

 29:16 ûl'lävän sh'Tëy vänôt shëm haG'doläh lëäh w'shëm haQ'ţaNäh rächël

 29:16 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 had two 8147 daughters: 1323 the name 8034 of the elder 1419 [was] Lë´à לֵאָה, 3812 and the name 8034 of the younger 6996 [was] Räçël רָחֵל. 7354

וְעֵינֵי לֵאָה רַכּוֹת וְרָחֵל הָיְתָה יְפַת־תֹּאַר וִיפַת מַרְאֶה

 29:17 w'ëynëy lëäh raKôt w'rächël häy'täh y'fat-Toar wiyfat mar'eh

 29:17 Lë´à לֵאָה 3812 [was] tender 7390 eyed; 5869 but Räçël רָחֵל 7354 was x1961 beautiful 3303 8389 and well 3303 favoured. 4758

וַיֶּאֱהַב יַעֲקֹב אֶת־רָחֵל וַיֹּאמֶר אֶעֱבָדְךָ שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים בְּרָחֵל בִּתְּךָ הַקְּטַנָּה

 29:18 waYeéhav yaáqov et-rächël waYomer eéväd'khä sheva shäniym B'rächël BiT'khä haQ'ţaNäh

 29:18 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 loved 157 z8799 x853 Räçël רָחֵל; 7354 and said, 559 z8799 I will serve 5647 z8799 thee seven 7651 years 8141 for Räçël רָחֵל 7354 thy younger 6996 daughter. 1323

וַיֹּאמֶר לָבָן טוֹב תִּתִּי אֹתָהּ לָךְ מִתִּתִּי אֹתָהּ לְאִישׁ אַחֵר שְׁבָה עִמָּדִי

 29:19 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 said, 559 z8799 [It is] better 2896 that I give 5414 z8800 her to thee, than that I should give 5414 z8800 x4480 her to another 312 man: 376 abide 3427 z8798 with x5973 me.

וַיַּעֲבֹד יַעֲקֹב בְּרָחֵל שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים וַיִּהְיוּ בְעֵינָיו כְּיָמִים אֲחָדִים בְּאַהֲבָתוֹ אֹתָהּ

 29:20 waYaávod yaáqov B'rächël sheva shäniym waYih'yû v'ëynäyw K'yämiym áchädiym B'ahávätô otäH

 29:20 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 served 5647 z8799 seven 7651 years 8141 for Räçël רָחֵל; 7354 and they seemed 5869 x1961 unto him [but] a few 259 days, 3117 for the love x160 he had y160 to her.

וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב אֶל־לָבָן הָבָה אֶת־אִשְׁתִּי כִּי מָלְאוּ יָמָי וְאָבוֹאָה אֵלֶיהָ

 29:21 waYomer yaáqov el-lävän häväh et-ish'Tiy Kiy mäl'û yämäy w'ävôäh ëleyhä

 29:21 ¶ And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 said 559 z8799 unto x413 Lävän לָבָן, 3837 Give 3051 z8798 [me] x853 my wife, 802 for x3588 my days 3117 are fulfilled, 4390 z8804 that I may go in 935 z8799 unto x413 her.

וַיֶּאֱסֹף לָבָן אֶת־כָּל־אַנְשֵׁי הַמָּקוֹם וַיַּעַשׂ מִשְׁתֶּה

 29:22 waYeéšof lävän et-Käl-an'shëy haMäqôm waYaas mish'Teh

 29:22 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 gathered together 622 z8799 x853 all x3605 the men y582 x376 of the place, 4725 and made 6213 z8799 a feast. 4960

 29:24 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 gave 5414 z8799 unto his daughter 1323 Lë´à לֵאָה 3812 x853 Zilpà זִלפָּה 2153 his maid 8198 [for] an handmaid. 8198

וַיְהִי בַבֹּקֶר וְהִנֵּה־הִוא לֵאָה וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־לָבָן מַה־זֹּאת עָשִׂיתָ לִּי הֲלֹא בְרָחֵל עָבַדְתִּי עִמָּךְ וְלָמָּה רִמִּיתָנִי

 29:25 And it came to pass, x1961 that in the morning, 1242 behold, x2009 it x1931 [was] Lë´à לֵאָה: 3812 and he said 559 z8799 to x413 Lävän לָבָן, 3837 What x4100 [is] this x2063 thou hast done 6213 z8804 unto me? did not x3808 I serve 5647 z8804 with x5973 thee for Räçël רָחֵל? 7354 wherefore x4100 then hast thou beguiled 7411 z8765 me?

וַיֹּאמֶר לָבָן לֹא־יֵעָשֶׂה כֵן בִּמְקוֹמֵנוּ לָתֵת הַצְּעִירָה לִפְנֵי הַבְּכִירָה

 29:26 waYomer lävän lo-yëäseh khën Bim'qômënû lätët haTZ'iyräh lif'nëy haB'khiyräh

 29:26 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 said, 559 z8799 It must not x3808 be so x3651 done 6213 z8735 in our country, 4725 to give 5414 z8800 the younger 6810 before 6440 the firstborn. 1067

מַלֵּא שְׁבֻעַ זֹאת וְנִתְּנָה לְךָ גַּם־אֶת־זֹאת בַּעֲבֹדָה אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲבֹד עִמָּדִי עוֹד שֶׁבַע־שָׁנִים אֲחֵרוֹת

 29:27 maLë sh'vuª zot w'niT'näh l'khä Gam-et-zot Baávodäh ásher Taávod iMädiy ôd sheva-shäniym áchërôt

 29:27 Fulfil 4390 z8761 her 2063 week, 7620 and we will give 5414 z8799 thee x853 this x2063 also x1571 for the service 5656 which x834 thou shalt serve 5647 z8799 with x5973 me yet x5750 seven 7651 other 312 years. 8141

וַיַּעַשׂ יַעֲקֹב כֵּן וַיְמַלֵּא שְׁבֻעַ זֹאת וַיִּתֶּן־לוֹ אֶת־רָחֵל בִּתּוֹ לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה

 29:28 waYaas yaáqov Kën way'maLë sh'vuª zot waYiTen-lô et-rächël BiTô lô l'iSHäh

 29:28 And Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹב 3290 did 6213 z8799 so, x3651 and fulfilled 4390 z8762 her x2063 week: 7620 and he gave 5414 z8799 him x853 Räçël רָחֵל 7354 his daughter 1323 to wife 802 also.

וַיִּתֵּן לָבָן לְרָחֵל בִּתּוֹ אֶת־בִּלְהָה שִׁפְחָתוֹ לָהּ לְשִׁפְחָה

 29:29 waYiTën lävän l'rächël BiTô et-Bil'häh shif'chätô läH l'shif'chäh

 29:29 And Lävän לָבָן 3837 gave 5414 z8799 to Räçël רָחֵל 7354 his daughter 1323 x853 Bilhà בִּלהָה 1090 his handmaid 8198 to be her maid. 8198

וַיָּבֹא גַּם אֶל־רָחֵל וַיֶּאֱהַב גַּם־אֶת־רָחֵל מִלֵּאָה וַיַּעֲבֹד עִמּוֹ עוֹד שֶׁבַע־שָׁנִים אֲחֵרוֹת

 29:30 And he went in 935 z8799 also x1571 unto x413 Räçël רָחֵל, 7354 and he loved 157 z8799 also x1571 x853 Räçël רָחֵל 7354 more than Lë´à לֵאָה, 3812 x4480 and served 5647 z8799 with x5973 him yet x5750 seven 7651 other 312 years. 8141

וַיַּרְא יְהוָה כִּי־שְׂנוּאָה לֵאָה וַיִּפְתַּח אֶת־רַחְמָהּ וְרָחֵל עֲקָרָה

וַתַּהַר לֵאָה וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַתִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ רְאוּבֵן כִּי אָמְרָה כִּי־רָאָה יְהוָה בְּעָנְיִי כִּי עַתָּה יֶאֱהָבַנִי אִישִׁי

 29:32 And Lë´à לֵאָה 3812 conceived, 2029 z8799 and bare 3205 z8799 a son, 1121 and she called 7121 z8799 his name 8034 Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן: 7205 for 3588 she said, 559 z8804 Surely 3588 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath looked 7200 z8804 upon my affliction; 6040 now x6258 therefore 3588 my husband 376 will love 157 z8799 me.

וַתַּהַר עוֹד וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַתֹּאמֶר כִּי־שָׁמַע יְהוָה כִּי־שְׂנוּאָה אָנֹכִי וַיִּתֶּן־לִי גַּם־אֶת־זֶה וַתִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ שִׁמְעוֹן

 29:33 And she conceived 2029 z8799 again, x5750 and bare 3205 z8799 a son; 1121 and said, 559 z8799 Because x3588 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath heard 8085 z8804 that x3588 I x595 [was] hated, 8130 z8803 he hath therefore given 5414 z8799 me x853 this x2088 [son] also: x1571 and she called 7121 z8799 his name 8034 Šim`ôn שִׁמעוֹן. 8095

וַתַּהַר עוֹד וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַתֹּאמֶר עַתָּה הַפַּעַם יִלָּוֶה אִישִׁי אֵלַי כִּי־יָלַדְתִּי לוֹ שְׁלֹשָׁה בָנִים עַל־כֵּן קָרָא־שְׁמוֹ לֵוִי

 29:34 waTahar ôd waTëled Bën waTomer aTäh haPaam yiLäweh iyshiy ëlay Kiy-yälad'Tiy lô sh'loshäh väniym al-Kën qärä-sh'mô lëwiy

 29:34 And she conceived x2029 again, y2029 z8799 x5750 and bare 3205 z8799 a son; 1121 and said, 559 z8799 Now x6258 this time 6471 will my husband 376 be joined 3867 z8735 unto x413 me, because x3588 I have born 3205 z8804 him three 7969 sons: 1121 therefore x5921 x3651 was his name 8034 called 7121 z8804 Lëwî לֵוִי. 3878
