 139:1 ¶
[[To the chief Musician,ºº
A Psalmº
of
Däwið
דָּוִד.]]º
O
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
thou hast searchedºº
me, and knownºº
[me]. |
|
 139:1 ¶
[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of Dawid.]] O Yahweh, thou hast searched me, and known [me]. |
 139:2
Thouº
knowestºº
my downsittingºº
and mine uprising,ºº
thou understandestºº
my thoughtº
afar off.ºº |
 139:2
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. |
 139:3
Thou compassestºº
my pathº
and my lying down,º
and art acquaintedºº
[with] allº
my ways.º |
 139:3
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted [with] all my ways. |
 139:4
Forº
[there is] notº
a wordº
in my tongue,º
[but], lo,º
O
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
thou knowestºº
it altogether.º |
 139:4
For [there is] not a word in my tongue, [but], lo, O Yahweh, thou knowest it altogether. |
 139:5
Thou hast besetºº
me behindº
and before,º
and laidºº
thine handº
uponº
me. |
 139:5
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. |
 139:6
[Such] knowledgeº
[is] too wonderfulºº
forº
me; it is high,ºº
I cannotººº
[attain] unto it. |
 139:6
[Such] knowledge [is] too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it. |
 139:7
Whitherº
shall I goººº
from thy spirit?ºº
or whitherº
shall I fleeºº
from thy presence?ºº |
 139:7
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? |
 139:8
Ifº
I ascend upºº
into heaven,º
thouº
[art] there:º
if I make my bedºº
in hell,º
behold,º
thou [art there]. |
 139:8
If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. |
 139:9
[If] I takeºº
the wingsº
of the morning,º
[and] dwellºº
in the uttermost partsº
of the sea;º |
 139:9
[If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; |
 139:10
Evenº
thereº
shall thy handº
leadºº
me, and thy right handº
shall holdºº
me. |
 139:10
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. |
 139:11
If I say,ºº
Surelyº
the darknessº
shall coverºº
me; even the nightº
shall be lightº
aboutº
me.º |
 139:11
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. |
 139:12
Yea,º
the darknessº
hidethºº
notº
fromº
thee; but the nightº
shinethºº
as the day:º
the darknessº
and the lightº
[are] both alike [to thee]. |
 139:12
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee]. |
 139:13
Forº
thouº
hast possessedºº
my reins:º
thou hast coveredºº
me in my mother'sº
womb.º |
 139:13
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. |
 139:14
I will praiseºº
thee; forºº
I am fearfullyºº
[and] wonderfullyº
made:ºº
marvellousºº
[are] thy works;º
and [that] my soulº
knowethºº
right well.º |
 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well. |
 139:15
My substanceº
was notº
hidºº
fromº
thee, whenº
I was madeºº
in secret,º
[and] curiously wroughtºº
in the lowest partsº
of the earth.º |
 139:15
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. |
 139:16
Thine eyesº
did seeºº
my substance, yet being unperfect;º
and inº
thy bookº
allº
[my members] were written,ºº
[which] in continuanceº
were fashioned,ºº
when [as yet there was] noneºº
of them. |
 139:16
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them. |
 139:17
Howº
preciousºº
also are thy thoughtsº
unto me, O
´Ël
אֵל!º
howº
greatºº
is the sumº
of them! |
 139:17
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O El! how great is the sum of them! |
 139:18
[If] I should countºº
them, they are more in numberºº
than the sand:ºº
when I awake,ºº
I am stillº
with thee.º |
 139:18
[If] I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. |
 139:19
Surelyº
thou wilt slayºº
the wicked,º
O
´Élôåh
אֱלוֹהַ:º
departºº
fromº
me therefore, ye bloodyº
men.ºº |
 139:19
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O Eloah: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. |
 139:20
Forº
they speakºº
against thee wickedly,º
[and] thine enemiesº
takeºº
[thy name] in vain.º |
 139:20
For they speak against thee wickedly, [and] thine enemies take [thy name] in vain. |
 139:21
Do notº
I hateºº
them, O
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
that hateºº
thee? and am not I grievedºº
with those that rise upº
againstº
thee? |
 139:21
Do not I hate them, O Yahweh, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? |
 139:22
I hateºº
them with perfectº
hatred:º
I countº
them mine enemies.ºº |
 139:22
I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies. |
 139:23
Searchºº
me, O
´Ël
אֵל,º
and knowºº
my heart:º
tryºº
me, and knowºº
my thoughts:º |
 139:23
Search me, O El, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: |
 139:24
And seeºº
ifº
[there be any] wickedº
wayº
in me, and leadºº
me in the wayº
everlasting.º |
 139:24
And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. |
