Isaiah 9

1 What joy shall be in the midst of afflictions, by the Kingdom and birth of Christ. 8 The judgments upon Israel for their pride, 13 for their hypocrisy, 18 and for their impenitency.

 9:1 But there will be no 3808 [more] gloom 4155 for her who 834 was in anguish 4164; in earlier 7223 times 6256 He treated 7043 the land 776 of Zebulun 2074 and the land 776 of Naphtali 5321 with contempt 7043, but later 314 on He shall make 3513 [it] glorious 3513, by the way 1870 of the sea 3220, on the other 5676 side 5676 of Jordan 3383, Galilee 1551 of the Gentiles 1471.

 9:2 The people 5971a who walk 1980 in darkness 2822 Will see 7200 a great 1419 light 216; Those who live 3427 in a dark 6757 land 776, The light 216 will shine 5050 on them.

 9:3 You shall multiply 7235a the nation 1471, You shall increase 1431 their gladness 8057; They will be glad 8055 in Your presence 6440 As with the gladness 8057 of harvest 7105a, As men rejoice 1523 when they divide 2505a the spoil 7998.

 9:4 For You shall break 2865 the yoke 5923 of their burden 5448 and the staff 4294 on their shoulders 7926, The rod 7626 of their oppressor 5065, as at the battle 3117 of Midian 4080.

 9:5 For every 3605 boot 5430 of the booted 5431 warrior 5431 in the [battle] tumult 7494, And cloak 8071 rolled 1556 in blood 1818, will be for burning 8316, fuel 3980 for the fire 784.

 9:6 For a child 3206 will be born 3205 to us, a son 1121 will be given 5414 to us; And the government 4951 will rest 1961 on His shoulders 7926; And His name 8034 will be called 7121 Wonderful 6382 Counselor 3289, Mighty 1368 God 410, Eternal 5703 Father 1, Prince 8269 of Peace 7965.

 9:7 There 369 will be no 369 end 7093 to the increase 4766 of [His] government 4951 or of peace 7965, On the throne 3678 of David 1732 and over 5921 his kingdom 4467, To establish 3559 it and to uphold 5582 it with justice 4941 and righteousness 6666 From then 6258 on and forevermore 5703 5769. The zeal 7068 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 will accomplish 6213a this 384.

 9:8 ¶ The Lord 136 sends 7971 a message 1697 against Jacob 3290, And it falls 5307 on Israel 3478.

 9:9 And all 3605 the people 5971a know 3045 [it], [That is], Ephraim 669 and the inhabitants 3427 of Samaria 8111, Asserting 559 in pride 1346 and in arrogance 1433 of heart 3824:

 9:10 “The bricks 3843 have fallen 5307 down 5307, But we will rebuild 1129 with smooth 1496 stones 1496; The sycamores 8256 have been cut 1438 down 1438, But we will replace 2498 [them] with cedars 730.”

 9:11 Therefore the LORD 3068 raises 7682 against 5921 them adversaries 6862c from Rezin 7526 And spurs 5526a their enemies 340 on,

 9:12 The Arameans 758 on the east 6924a and the Philistines 6430 on the west 268; And they devour 398 Israel 3478 with gaping 3605 jaws 6310. In [spite of] all 3605 this 384, His anger 639 does not turn 7725 away 7725 And His hand 3027 is still 5750 stretched 5186 out.

 9:13 ¶ Yet the people 5971a do not turn 7725 back 7725 to Him who struck 5221 them, Nor 3808 do they seek 1875 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 9:14 So the LORD 3068 cuts 3772 off 3772 head 7218 and tail 2180 from Israel 3478, [Both] palm 3712 branch 3712 and bulrush 100 in a single 259 day 3117.

 9:15 The head 7218 is the elder 2205 and honorable 6440 5375 man, And the prophet 5030 who teaches 3384 falsehood 8267 is the tail 2180.

 9:16 For those who guide 833 this 2088 people 5971a are leading 8582 [them] astray 8582; And those who are guided 833 by them are brought 1104 to confusion 1104.

 9:17 Therefore 5921 3651 the Lord 136 does not take 8055 pleasure 8055 in their young 970 men 970, Nor 3808 does He have 7355 pity 7355 on their orphans 3490 or their widows 490; For every 3605 one 3605 of them is godless 2611 and an evildoer 7489a, And every 3605 mouth 6310 is speaking 1696 foolishness 5039. In [spite of] all 3605 this 384, His anger 639 does not turn 7725 away 7725 And His hand 3027 is still 5750 stretched 5186 out.

 9:18 ¶ For wickedness 7564 burns 1197a like a fire 784; It consumes 398 briars 8068 and thorns 7898; It even sets 3341 the thickets 5442 of the forest 3293a aflame 3341 And they roll 55 upward 55 in a column 1348 of smoke 6227.

 9:19 By the fury 5678 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 the land 776 is burned 6272 up, And the people 5971a are like fuel 3980 for the fire 784; No 3808 man 376 spares 2550 his brother 251.

 9:20 They slice 1504 off 1504 [what is] on the right 3225 hand 3225 but [still] are hungry 7456, And they eat 398 [what is] on the left 8040 hand 8040 but they are not satisfied 7646; Each 376 of them eats 398 the flesh 1320 of his own arm 2220.

 9:21 Manasseh 4519 [devours] Ephraim 669, and Ephraim 669 Manasseh 4519, [And] together 3164a they are against 5921 Judah 3063. In [spite of] all 3605 this 384, His anger 639 does not turn 7725 away 7725 And His hand 3027 is still 5750 stretched 5186 out.
