Isaiah 53

1 The prophet, complaining of incredulity, excuseth the scandal of the cross, 4 by the benefit of his passion, 10 and the good success thereof.

 53:1 Who 4310 has believed 539 our message 8052? And to whom 4310 has the arm 2220 of the LORD 3068 been revealed 1540?

 53:2 For He grew 5927 up before 6440 Him like a tender 3126 shoot 3126, And like a root 8328 out of parched 6723 ground 776; He has no 3808 [stately] form 8389 or majesty 1926 That we should look 7200 upon Him, Nor 3808 appearance 4758 that we should be attracted 2530 to Him.

 53:3 He was despised 959 and forsaken 2310 of men 376, A man 376 of sorrows 4341 and acquainted 3045 with grief 2483; And like one from whom men hide 4564 their face 6440 He was despised 959, and we did not esteem 2803 Him.

 53:4 ¶ Surely 403 our griefs 2483 He Himself 1931 bore 5375, And our sorrows 4341 He carried 5445; Yet we ourselves 587 esteemed 2803 Him stricken 5060, Smitten 5221 of God 430, and afflicted 6031a.

 53:5 But He was pierced 2490a through 2490a for our transgressions 6588, He was crushed 1792 for our iniquities 5771; The chastening 4148 for our well-being 7965 [fell] upon Him, And by His scourging 2250 we are healed 7495.

 53:6 All 3605 of us like sheep 6629 have gone 8582 astray 8582, Each 376 of us has turned 6437 to his own way 1870; But the LORD 3068 has caused the iniquity 5771 of us all 3605 To fall 6293 on Him.

 53:7 ¶ He was oppressed 5065 and He was afflicted 6031a, Yet He did not open 6605a His mouth 6310; Like a lamb 7716 that is led 2986 to slaughter 2874, And like a sheep 7353 that is silent 481 before 6440 its shearers 1494, So He did not open 6605a His mouth 6310.

 53:8 By oppression 6115 and judgment 4941 He was taken 3947 away; And as for His generation 1755, who 4310 considered 7878 That He was cut 1504 off 1504 out of the land 776 of the living 2416a For the transgression 6588 of my people 5971a, to whom the stroke 5061 [was due]?

 53:9 His grave 6913 was assigned 5414 with wicked 7563 men 7563, Yet He was with a rich 6223 man 6223 in His death 4194, Because 5921 He had done 6213a no 3808 violence 2555, Nor 3808 was there any deceit 4820 in His mouth 6310.

 53:10 ¶ But the LORD 3068 was pleased 2654a To crush 1792 Him, putting 2470a [Him] to grief 2470a; If 518 He would render 7760 Himself 5315 [as] a guilt 817 offering 817, He will see 7200 [His] offspring 2233, He will prolong 748 [His] days 3117, And the good 2656 pleasure 2656 of the LORD 3068 will prosper 6743b in His hand 3027.

 53:11 As a result 4480 of the anguish 5999 of His soul 5315, He will see 7200 [it and] be satisfied 7646; By His knowledge 1847 the Righteous 6662 One 6662, My Servant 5650, will justify 6663 the many 7227a, As He will bear 5445 their iniquities 5771.

 53:12 Therefore 3651, I will allot 2505a Him a portion 2505a with the great 7227a, And He will divide 2505a the booty 7998 with the strong 6099; Because 8478 834 He poured 6168 out Himself 5315 to death 4194, And was numbered 4487 with the transgressors 6586; Yet He Himself 1931 bore 5375 the sin 2399 of many 7227a, And interceded 6293 for the transgressors 6586.
