Isaiah 41

1 God expostulateth with his people, about his mercies to the Church, 10 about his promises, 21 and about the vanity of idols.

 41:1 “Coastlands 339, listen to Me in silence 2790b, And let the peoples 3816 gain 2498 new 2498 strength 3581b; Let them come 5066 forward 5066, then 227 let them speak 1696; Let us come 7126 together 3164a for judgment 4941.

 41:2 “Who 4310 has aroused 5782 one from the east 4217 Whom He calls 7121 in righteousness 6664 to His feet 7272? He delivers 5414 up nations 1471 before 6440 him And subdues 7287a kings 4428. He makes 5414 them like dust 6083 with his sword 2719, As the wind-driven chaff 7179 with his bow 7198.

 41:3 “He pursues 7291 them, passing 5674a on in safety 7965, By a way 734 he had not been traversing 935 with his feet 7272.

 41:4 “Who 4310 has performed 6466 and accomplished 6213a [it], Calling 7121 forth the generations 1755 from the beginning 7218? ‘I, the LORD 3068, am the first 7223, and with the last 314. I am He.’”

 41:5 ¶ The coastlands 339 have seen 7200 and are afraid 3372a; The ends 7098 of the earth 776 tremble 2729; They have drawn 7126 near 7126 and have come 857.

 41:6 Each 376 one 376 helps 5826 his neighbor 7453 And says 559 to his brother 251, “Be strong 2388!”

 41:7 So the craftsman 2796 encourages 2388 the smelter 6884, [And] he who smooths 2505b [metal] with the hammer 6360 [encourages] him who beats 1986 the anvil 6471, Saying 559 of the soldering 1694, “It is good 2896a”; And he fastens 2388 it with nails 4548, [So that] it will not totter 4131.

 41:8 “But you, Israel 3478, My servant 5650, Jacob 3290 whom 834 I have chosen 977, Descendant 2233 of Abraham 85 My friend 157,

 41:9 You whom 834 I have taken 2388 from the ends 7098 of the earth 776, And called 7121 from its remotest 678 parts 678 And said 559 to you, ‘You are My servant 5650, I have chosen 977 you and not rejected 3988a you.

 41:10 ‘Do not fear 3372a, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look 8159 about you, for I am your God 430. I will strengthen 553 you, surely 637 I will help 5826 you, Surely 637 I will uphold 8551 you with My righteous 6664 right 3225 hand 3225.’

 41:11 “Behold 2005, all 3605 those who are angered 2734 at you will be shamed 954 and dishonored 3637; Those 376 who 376 contend 7379 with you will be as nothing 369 and will perish 6.

 41:12 “You will seek 1245 those 376 who 376 quarrel 4695 with you, but will not find 4672 them, Those 376 who 376 war 4421 with you will be as nothing 369 and non-existent 657.

 41:13 “For I am the LORD 3068 your God 430, who upholds 2388 your right 3225 hand 3225, Who says 559 to you, ‘Do not fear 3372a, I will help 5826 you.’

 41:14 “Do not fear 3372a, you worm 8439b Jacob 3290, you men 4962 of Israel 3478; I will help 5826 you,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “and your Redeemer 1350 is the Holy 6918 One 6918 of Israel 3478.

 41:15 “Behold 2009, I have made 7760 you a new 2319, sharp 2742a threshing 4173 sledge 4173 with double edges 6310; You will thresh 1758 the mountains 2022 and pulverize 1854 [them], And will make 7760 the hills 1389 like chaff 4671b.

 41:16 “You will winnow 2219 them, and the wind 7307 will carry 5375 them away, And the storm 5591b will scatter 6327a them; But you will rejoice 1523 in the LORD 3068, You will glory 1984b in the Holy 6918 One 6918 of Israel 3478.

 41:17 ¶ “The afflicted 6041 and needy 34 are seeking 1245 water 4325, but there 369 is none 369, And their tongue 3956 is parched 5405 with thirst 6772; I, the LORD 3068, will answer 6030a them Myself, [As] the God 430 of Israel 3478 I will not forsake 5800a them.

 41:18 “I will open 6605a rivers 5104 on the bare 8205 heights 8205 And springs 4599 in the midst 8432 of the valleys 1237; I will make 7760 the wilderness 4057b a pool 98 of water 4325 And the dry 6723 land 776 fountains 4161 of water 4325.

 41:19 “I will put 5414 the cedar 730 in the wilderness 4057b, The acacia 7848 and the myrtle 1918 and the olive 8081 tree 8410; I will place 7760 the juniper 1265 in the desert 6160 Together 3164a with the box 8410 tree 8391 and the cypress 8391,

 41:20 That they may see 7200 and recognize 3045, And consider 7760 and gain 7919a insight 7919a as well 3164a, That the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 has done 6213a this 384, And the Holy 6918 One 6918 of Israel 3478 has created 1254a it.

 41:21 ¶ “Present 7126 your case 7379,” the LORD 3068 says 559. “Bring 5066 forward 5066 your strong 6110 [arguments],” The King 4428 of Jacob 3290 says 559.

 41:22 Let them bring 5066 forth 5066 and declare 5046 to us what 834 is going to take 7136a place 7136a; As for the former 7223 [events], declare 5046 what 4100 they [were], That we may consider 7760 them and know 3045 their outcome 319. Or 176 announce 8085 to us what is coming 935;

 41:23 Declare 5046 the things 857 that are going to come 857 afterward 268, That we may know 3045 that you are gods 430; Indeed 637, do 3190 good 3190 or evil 7489a, that we may anxiously look 8159 about us and fear 3372a together 3164a.

 41:24 Behold 2005, you are of no 369 account 369, And your work 6467 amounts to nothing 657; He who chooses 977 you is an abomination 8441.

 41:25 ¶ “I have aroused 5782 one from the north 6828, and he has come 857; From the rising 4217 of the sun 8121 he will call 7121 on My name 8034; And he will come 935 upon rulers 5461 as [upon] mortar 2563a, Even as the potter 3335 treads 7429 clay 2563a.”

 41:26 Who 4310 has declared 5046 [this] from the beginning 7218, that we might know 3045? Or from former 6440 times 6440, that we may say 559, “[He is] right 6662!”? Surely 637 there 369 was no 369 one 369 who declared 5046, Surely 637 there 369 was no 369 one 369 who proclaimed 8085, Surely 637 there 369 was no 369 one 369 who heard 8085 your words 561.

 41:27 “Formerly 7223 [I said] to Zion 6726, ‘Behold 2009, here 2009 they are.’ And to Jerusalem 3389, ‘I will give 5414 a messenger 1319 of good news 1319.’

 41:28 “But when I look 7200, there 369 is no 369 one 376, And there 369 is no 369 counselor 3289 among 4480 them Who, if I ask 7592, can give 7725 an answer 1697.

 41:29 “Behold 2005, all 3605 of them are false 205; Their works 4639 are worthless 657, Their molten 5262b images 5262b are wind 7307 and emptiness 8414.
