Isaiah 38

1 Hezekiah, having received a message of death, by prayer hath his life lengthened. 8 The sun goeth ten degrees backward, for a sign of that promise. 9 His song of thanksgiving.

 38:1 In those 1992a days 3117 Hezekiah 2396 became 2470a mortally 4191 ill 2470a. And Isaiah 3470b the prophet 5030 the son 1121 of Amoz 531 came 935 to him and said 559 to him, “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘Set 6680 your house 1004 in order 6680, for you shall die 4191 and not live 2421a.’”

 38:2 Then Hezekiah 2396 turned 5437 his face 6440 to the wall 7023 and prayed 6419 to the LORD 3068,

 38:3 and said 559, “Remember 2142 now 4994, O 577 LORD 3068, I beseech 577 You, how 834 I have walked 1980 before 6440 You in truth 571 and with a whole 8003 heart 3820, and have done 6213a what 2896a is good 2896a in Your sight 5869.” And Hezekiah 2396 wept 1058 bitterly 1419.

 38:4 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Isaiah 3470b, saying 559,

 38:5 “Go 1980 and say 559 to Hezekiah 2396, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of your father 1 David 1732, “I have heard 8085 your prayer 8605, I have seen 7200 your tears 1832; behold 2009, I will add 3254 fifteen 2568 6240 years 8141 to your life 3117.

 38:6 “I will deliver 5337 you and this 384 city 5892b from the hand 3709 of the king 4428 of Assyria 804b; and I will defend 1598 this 384 city 5892b.”’

 38:7 ¶ “This 2088 shall be the sign 226 to you from the LORD 3068, that the LORD 3068 will do 6213a this 2088 thing 1697 that He has spoken 1696:

 38:8 “Behold 2009, I will cause 7725 the shadow 6738 on the stairway 4609b, which 834 has gone 3381 down 3381 with the sun 8121 on the stairway 4609b of Ahaz 271, to go 7725 back 322 ten 6235 steps 4609b.” So the sun’s 8121 [shadow] went 7725 back 7725 ten 6235 steps 4609b on the stairway 4609b on which 834 it had gone 3381 down 3381.

 38:9 ¶ A writing 4385 of Hezekiah 2396 king 4428 of Judah 3063 after his illness 2483 and recovery 2421a:

 38:11 I said 559, “I will not see 7200 the LORD 3050, The LORD 3050 in the land 776 of the living 2416a; I will look 5027 on man 120 no 3808 more 5750 among 5973 the inhabitants 3427 of the world 2465.

 38:12 “Like a shepherd’s 7473 tent 168 my dwelling 1755 is pulled 5265 up and removed 1540 from me; As a weaver 707 I rolled 7088 up my life 2425b. He cuts 1214 me off 1214 from the loom 1803a; From day 3117 until 5704 night 3915 You make 7999a an end 7999a of me.

 38:13 “I composed 7737a [my soul] until 5704 morning 1242. Like a lion 738—so 3651 He breaks 7665 all 3605 my bones 6106, From day 3117 until 5704 night 3915 You make 7999a an end 7999a of me.

 38:14 “Like a swallow 5483a, [like] a crane 5693, so 3651 I twitter 6850; I moan 1897 like a dove 3123; My eyes 5869 look 1809 wistfully 1809 to the heights 4791; O Lord 3068, I am oppressed 6234, be my security 6148.

 38:15 ¶ “What 4100 shall I say 1696? For He has spoken 559 to me, and He Himself 1931 has done 6213a it; I will wander 1718 about all 3605 my years 8141 because 5921 of the bitterness 4751 of my soul 5315.

 38:16 “O Lord 136, by [these] things [men] live 2421a, And in all 3605 these is the life 2425b of my spirit 7307; O restore 2492a me to health 2492a and let me live 2421a!

 38:17 “Lo 2009, for [my own] welfare 7965 I had 4843 great 4751 bitterness 4751; It is You who has kept 2836a my soul 5315 from the pit 7845 of nothingness 1097, For You have cast 7993 all 3605 my sins 2399 behind 310 Your back 1460a.

 38:18 “For Sheol 7585 cannot 3808 thank 3034 You, Death 4194 cannot praise 1984b You; Those who go 3381 down 3381 to the pit 953a cannot 3808 hope 7663b for Your faithfulness 571.

 38:19 “It is the living 2416a who give 3034 thanks 3034 to You, as I do today 3117; A father 1 tells 3045 his sons 1121 about 413 Your faithfulness 571.

 38:20 “The LORD 3068 will surely save 3467 me; So we will play 5059 my songs 5058 on stringed 5058 instruments All 3605 [the] days 3117 of our life 2425b at the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.”

 38:21 ¶ Now Isaiah 3470b had said 559, “Let them take 5375 a cake 1690 of figs 8384 and apply 4799 it to the boil 7822, that he may recover 2421a.”

 38:22 Then Hezekiah 2396 had said 559, “What 4100 is the sign 226 that I shall go 5927 up to the house 1004 of the LORD 3068?”
