Isaiah 48

1 God to convince the people of their foreknown obstinacy, revealeth his prophecies. 9 He saveth them for his own sake. 12 He exhorteth them to obedience, because of his power and providence. 16 He lamenteth their backwardness. 20 He powerfully delivereth his people out of Babylon.

 48:1 “Hear 8085 this 384, O house 1004 of Jacob 3290, who are named 7121 8034 Israel 3478 And who came 3318 forth 3318 from the loins 4325 of Judah 3063, Who swear 7650 by the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 And invoke 2142 the God 430 of Israel 3478, [But] not in truth 571 nor 3808 in righteousness 6666.

 48:2 “For they call 7121 themselves after 4480 the holy 6944 city 5892b And lean 5564 on the God 430 of Israel 3478; The LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 is His name 8034.

 48:3 “I declared 5046 the former 7223 things 7223 long 3975b ago 3975b And they went 3318 forth 3318 from My mouth 6310, and I proclaimed 8085 them. Suddenly 6597 I acted 6213a, and they came 935 to pass 935.

 48:4 “Because 4480 I know 3045 that you are obstinate 7186, And your neck 6203 is an iron 1270 sinew 1517 And your forehead 4696 bronze 5154,

 48:5 Therefore I declared 5046 [them] to you long 3975b ago 3975b, Before 2962 they took 935 place 935 I proclaimed 8085 [them] to you, So that you would not say 559, ‘My idol 6090b has done 6213a them, And my graven 6459 image 6459 and my molten 5262b image 5262b have commanded 6680 them.’

 48:6 “You have heard 8085; look 2372 at all 3605 this. And you, will you not declare 5046 it? I proclaim 8085 to you new 2319 things 2319 from this 6258 time 6258, Even hidden 5341 things 5341 which you have not known 3045.

 48:7 “They are created 1254a now 6258 and not long 3975b ago 3975b; And before 6440 today 3117 you have not heard 8085 them, So that you will not say 559, ‘Behold 2009, I knew 3045 them.’

 48:8 “You have not heard 8085, you have not known 3045. Even 1571 from long 3975b ago 3975b your ear 241 has not been open 6605a, Because 3588 I knew 3045 that you would deal 898 very 898 treacherously 898; And you have been called 7121 a rebel 6586 from birth 990.

 48:9 “For the sake 4616 of My name 8034 I delay 748 My wrath 639, And [for] My praise 8416 I restrain 2413 [it] for you, In order not to cut 3772 you off 3772.

 48:10 “Behold 2009, I have refined 6884 you, but not as silver 3701; I have tested 977 you in the furnace 3564a of affliction 6040a.

 48:11 “For My own sake 4616, for My own sake 4616, I will act 6213a; For how 349 can [My name] be profaned 2490c? And My glory 3519b I will not give 5414 to another 312.

 48:12 ¶ “Listen 8085 to Me, O Jacob 3290, even Israel 3478 whom I called 7121; I am He, I am the first 7223, I am also 637 the last 314.

 48:13 “Surely 637 My hand 3027 founded 3245 the earth 776, And My right 3225 hand 3225 spread 2946 out the heavens 8064; When I call 7121 to them, they stand 5975 together 3164a.

 48:14 “Assemble 6908, all 3605 of you, and listen 8085! Who 4310 among them has declared 5046 these 428 things 428? The LORD 3068 loves 157 him; he will carry 6213a out His good 2656 pleasure 2656 on Babylon 894, And His arm 2220 [will be against] the Chaldeans 3778.

 48:15 “I, even I, have spoken 1696; indeed 637 I have called 7121 him, I have brought 935 him, and He will make 6743b his ways 1870 successful 6743b.

 48:16 “Come 7126 near 7126 to Me, listen 8085 to this 384: From the first 7218 I have not spoken 1696 in secret 5643a, From the time 6256 it took 1961 place 1961, I was there 8033. And now 6258 the Lord 136 GOD 3068 has sent 7971 Me, and His Spirit 7307.”

 48:17 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, your Redeemer 1350, the Holy 6918 One 6918 of Israel 3478, “I am the LORD 3068 your God 430, who teaches 3925 you to profit 3276, Who leads 1869 you in the way 1870 you should go 1980.

 48:18 “If 3863 only 3863 you had paid 7181 attention 7181 to My commandments 4687! Then your well-being 7965 would have been 1961 like a river 5104, And your righteousness 6666 like the waves 1530 of the sea 3220.

 48:19 “Your descendants 2233 would have been 1961 like the sand 2344, And your offspring 6631 4578 like its grains 4579; Their name 8034 would never 3808 be cut 3772 off 3772 or destroyed 8045 from My presence 6440.”

 48:20 ¶ Go 3318 forth 3318 from Babylon 894! Flee 1272 from the Chaldeans 3778! Declare 5046 with the sound 6963 of joyful 7440 shouting 7440, proclaim 8085 this 384, Send 3318 it out to the end 7097a of the earth 776; Say 559, “The LORD 3068 has redeemed 1350 His servant 5650 Jacob 3290.”

 48:21 They did not thirst 6770 when He led 1980 them through the deserts 2723. He made the water 4325 flow 5140 out of the rock 6697 for them; He split 1234 the rock 6697 and the water 4325 gushed 2100 forth.

 48:22 “There 369 is no 369 peace 7965 for the wicked 7563,” says 559 the LORD 3068.
