Isaiah 28

1 The prophet threateneth Ephraim for thier pride and drunkenness. 5 The residue shall be advanced in the Kingdom of Christ. 7 He rebuketh their error. 9 Their untowardness to learn, 14 and their security. 16 Christ the sure foundation is promised. 18 Their security shall be tried. 23 They are incited to the consideration of God's discreet providence.

 28:1 Woe 1945 to the proud 1348 crown 5850 of the drunkards 7910 of Ephraim 669, And to the fading 5034b flower 6731b of its glorious 6643a beauty 6643a, Which 834 is at the head 7218 of the fertile 8081 valley 1516 Of those who are overcome 1986 with wine 3196!

 28:2 Behold 2009, the Lord 136 has a strong 2389 and mighty 533 [agent]; As a storm 2230 of hail 1259, a tempest 8178b of destruction 6986, Like a storm 2230 of mighty 3524 overflowing 7857 waters 4325, He has cast 5117 [it] down 5117 to the earth 776 with [His] hand 3027.

 28:3 The proud 1348 crown 5850 of the drunkards 7910 of Ephraim 669 is trodden 7429 under foot 7272.

 28:4 And the fading 5034b flower 6731b of its glorious 6643a beauty 6643a, Which 834 is at the head 7218 of the fertile 8081 valley 1516, Will be like the first-ripe 1063 fig 1063 prior 2962 to summer 7019c, Which 834 one sees 7200, [And] as soon 5750 as it is in his hand 3709, He swallows 1104 it.

 28:5 In that day 3117 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 will become 1961 a beautiful 6643a crown 5850 And a glorious 8597 diadem 6843 to the remnant 7605 of His people 5971a;

 28:6 A spirit 7307 of justice 4941 for him who sits 3427 in judgment 4941, A strength 1369 to those who repel 7725 the onslaught 4421 at the gate 8179.

 28:7 And these 428 also 1571 reel 7686 with wine 3196 and stagger 8582 from strong 7941 drink 7941: The priest 3548 and the prophet 5030 reel 7686 with strong 7941 drink 7941, They are confused 1104 by wine 3196, they stagger 8582 from strong 7941 drink 7941; They reel 7686 while having visions 7203b, They totter 6328 [when rendering] judgment 6417.

 28:8 For all 3605 the tables 7979 are full 4390 of filthy 6675 vomit 7006b, without 1097 a [single clean] place 4725.

 28:9 ¶ “To whom 4310 would He teach 3384 knowledge 1844, And to whom 4310 would He interpret 995 the message 8052? Those [just] weaned 1580 from milk 2461? Those [just] taken 6267 from the breast 7699a?

 28:10 “For [He says], ‘Order 6673 on order 6673, order 6673 on order 6673, Line 6957b on line 6957b, line 6957b on line 6957b, A little 2191 here 8033, a little 2191 there 8033.’”

 28:11 Indeed 3588, He will speak 1696 to this 2088 people 5971a Through stammering 3934 lips 8193 and a foreign 312 tongue 3956,

 28:12 He who 834 said 559 to them, “Here 2088 is rest 4496, give 5117 rest 5117 to the weary 5889,” And, “Here 2088 is repose 4774,” but they would 14 not listen 8085.

 28:13 So the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 to them will be, “Order 6673 on order 6673, order 6673 on order 6673, Line 6957b on line 6957b, line 6957b on line 6957b, A little 2191 here 8033, a little 2191 there 8033,” That they may go 1980 and stumble 3782 backward 268, be broken 7665, snared 3369 and taken 3920 captive 3920.

 28:14 Therefore 3651, hear 8085 the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, O scoffers 582 3944, Who rule 4910 this 2088 people 5971a who 834 are in Jerusalem 3389,

 28:15 Because 3588 you have said 559, “We have made 3772 a covenant 1285 with death 4194, And with Sheol 7585 we have made 6213a a pact 2374. The overwhelming 7857 scourge 7752 will not reach 935 us when 3588 it passes 5674a by, For we have made 7760 falsehood 3577 our refuge 4268 and we have concealed 5641 ourselves with deception 8267.”

 28:16 Therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the Lord 136 GOD 3068, “Behold 2009, I am laying 3245 in Zion 6726 a stone 68, a tested 976 stone 68, A costly 3368 cornerstone 6438 [for] the foundation 4143, firmly 3245 placed 3245. He who believes 539 [in it] will not be disturbed 2363a.

 28:17 “I will make 7760 justice 4941 the measuring 6957b line 6957b And righteousness 6666 the level 4949; Then hail 1259 will sweep 3261 away 3261 the refuge 4268 of lies 3577 And the waters 4325 will overflow 7857 the secret 5643a place 5643a.

 28:18 “Your covenant 1285 with death 4194 will be canceled 3722a, And your pact 2380 with Sheol 7585 will not stand 6965; When 3588 the overwhelming 7857 scourge 7752 passes 5674a through 5674a, Then you become 1961 its trampling 4823 [place].

 28:19 “As often 1767 as it passes 5674a through 5674a, it will seize 3947 you; For morning 1242 after morning 1242 it will pass 5674a through 5674a, [anytime] during the day 3117 or night 3915, And it will be sheer 7534 terror 2113 to understand 995 what 8052 it means 8052.”

 28:21 For the LORD 3068 will rise 6965 up as [at] Mount 2022 Perazim 6559, He will be stirred 7264 up as in the valley 6010 of Gibeon 1391, To do 6213a His task 4639, His unusual 2114a task 4639, And to work 5647 His work 5656, His extraordinary 5237 work 5656.

 28:22 And now 6258 do not carry 3917b on as scoffers 3917b, Or 6435 your fetters 4147 will be made 2388 stronger 2388; For I have heard 8085 from the Lord 136 GOD 3068 of hosts 6635 Of decisive 2782 destruction 3617 on all 3605 the earth 776.

 28:23 ¶ Give 238 ear 238 and hear 8085 my voice 6963, Listen 7181 and hear 8085 my words 565a.

 28:24 Does the farmer 2790a plow 2790a continually 3605 3117 to plant 2232 seed 2232? Does he [continually] turn 6605a and harrow 7702 the ground 127?

 28:25 Does he not level 7737a its surface 6440 And sow 6327a dill 7100 and scatter 2236b cummin 3646 And plant 7760 wheat 2406 in rows 7795a, Barley 8184 in its place 5567 and rye 3698 within its area 1367?

 28:26 For his God 430 instructs 3256 and teaches 3384 him properly 4941.

 28:27 For dill 7100 is not threshed 1758 with a threshing 2742a sledge 2742a, Nor 3808 is the cartwheel 5699 driven 5437 over 5921 cummin 3646; But dill 7100 is beaten 2251 out with a rod 4294, and cummin 3646 with a club 7626.

 28:28 [Grain for] bread 3899 is crushed 1854, Indeed 3588, he does not continue 1758 to thresh 1758 it forever 5331. Because the wheel 1536 of [his] cart 5699 and his horses 6571a [eventually] damage 2000 [it], He does not thresh 1854 it longer.

 28:29 This 384 also 1571 comes 3318 from the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, [Who] has made 6381 [His] counsel 6098 wonderful 6381 and [His] wisdom 8454 great 1431.
