Isaiah 31

The prophet sheweth the cursed folly, in trusting to Egypt, and forsaking of God. 6 He exhorteth to conversion. 8 He sheweth the fall of Assyria.

 31:1 Woe 1945 to those who go 3381 down 3381 to Egypt 4714 for help 5833 [And] rely 8172 on horses 5483b, And trust 982 in chariots 7393 because 3588 they are many 7227a And in horsemen 6571b because 3588 they are very 3966 strong 6105a, But they do not look 8159 to the Holy 6918 One 6918 of Israel 3478, nor 3808 seek 1875 the LORD 3068!

 31:2 Yet He also 1571 is wise 2450 and will bring 935 disaster 7451b And does not retract 5493 His words 1697, But will arise 6965 against 5921 the house 1004 of evildoers 7489a And against 5921 the help 5833 of the workers 6466 of iniquity 205.

 31:3 Now the Egyptians 4714 are men 120 and not God 410, And their horses 5483b are flesh 1320 and not spirit 7307; So the LORD 3068 will stretch 5186 out His hand 3027, And he who helps 5826 will stumble 3782 And he who is helped 5826 will fall 5307, And all 3605 of them will come 3615 to an end 3615 together 3164a.

 31:4 ¶ For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 to me, “As the lion 743b or the young 3715 lion 3715 growls 1897 over 5921 his prey 2964, Against 5921 which 834 a band 4393 of shepherds 7462a is called 7121 out, [And] he will not be terrified 2865 at their voice 6963 nor 3808 disturbed 6031a at their noise 1995, So 3651 will the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 come 3381 down 3381 to wage 6633 war 6633 on Mount 2022 Zion 6726 and on its hill 1389.”

 31:5 Like flying 5774a birds 6833 so 3651 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 will protect 1598 Jerusalem 3389. He will protect 1598 and deliver 5337 [it]; He will pass 6452a over 6452a and rescue 4422 [it].

 31:6 ¶ Return 7725 to Him from whom 834 you have deeply 6009 defected 5627, O sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 31:7 For in that day 3117 every 376 man 376 will cast 3988a away 3988a his silver 3701 idols 457 and his gold 2091 idols 457, which 834 your sinful hands 3027 have made 6213a for you as a sin 2399.

 31:8 And the Assyrian 804b will fall 5307 by a sword 2719 not of man 376, And a sword 2719 not of man 120 will devour 398 him. So he will not escape 5127 the sword 2719, And his young 970 men 970 will become 1961 forced 4522 laborers 4522.

 31:9 “His rock 5553 will pass 5674a away 5674a because 4480 of panic 4032, And his princes 8269 will be terrified 2865 at the standard 5251,” Declares 5002 the LORD 3068, whose 834 fire 217 is in Zion 6726 and whose furnace 8574 is in Jerusalem 3389.
