 17:1 ¶ And Yæhôšäfäţ יְהוֹשָׁפָט 3092 his son 1121 reigned 4427 z8799 in his stead, x8478 and strengthened y2388 z8691 himself x2388 against x5921 Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל. 3478

וַיִּתֶּן־חַיִל בְּכָל־עָרֵי יְהוּדָה הַבְּצֻרוֹת וַיִּתֵּן נְצִיבִים בְּאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה וּבְעָרֵי אֶפְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר לָכַד אָסָא אָבִיו

 17:2 waYiTen-chayil B'khäl-ärëy y'hûdäh haB'tzurôt waYiTën n'tziyviym B'eretz y'hûdäh ûv'ärëy ef'rayim ásher läkhad äšä äviyw

 17:2 And he placed 5414 z8799 forces 2428 in all x3605 the fenced 1219 z8803 cities 5892 of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה, 3063 and set 5414 z8799 garrisons 5333 in the land 776 of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה, 3063 and in the cities 5892 of ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִם, 669 which x834 ´Äsä´ אָסָא 609 his father 1 had taken. 3920 z8804

וַיְהִי יְהוָה עִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָט כִּי הָלַךְ בְּדַרְכֵי דָּוִיד אָבִיו הָרִאשֹׁנִים וְלֹא דָרַשׁ לַבְּעָלִים

כִּי לֵאלֹהֵי אָבִיו דָּרָשׁ וּבְמִצְוֹתָיו הָלָךְ וְלֹא כְּמַעֲשֵׂה יִשְׂרָאֵל

וַיָּכֶן יְהוָה אֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָה בְּיָדוֹ וַיִּתְּנוּ כָל־יְהוּדָה מִנְחָה לִיהוֹשָׁפָט וַיְהִי־לוֹ עֹשֶׁר־וְכָבוֹד לָרֹב

 17:5 Therefore Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 stablished 3559 z8686 x853 the kingdom 4467 in his hand; 3027 and all x3605 Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה 3063 brought 5414 z8799 to Yæhôšäfäţ יְהוֹשָׁפָט 3092 presents; 4503 and he had x1961 riches 6239 and honour 3519 in abundance. 7230

וַיִּגְבַּהּ לִבּוֹ בְּדַרְכֵי יְהוָה וְעוֹד הֵסִיר אֶת־הַבָּמוֹת וְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרִים מִיהוּדָה פ

וּבִשְׁנַת שָׁלוֹשׁ לְמָלְכוֹ שָׁלַח לְשָׂרָיו לְבֶן־חַיִל וּלְעֹבַדְיָה וְלִזְכַרְיָה וְלִנְתַנְאֵל וּלְמִיכָיָהוּ לְלַמֵּד בְּעָרֵי יְהוּדָה

 17:7 ¶ Also in the third 7969 year 8141 of his reign 4427 z8800 he sent 7971 z8804 to his princes, 8269 [even] to Ben Çayil בֶּן־חַיִל, 1134 and to `Övađyà עֹבַדיָה, 5662 and to Zæȼaryà זְכַריָה, 2148 and to Næŧan´ël נְתַנאֵל, 5417 and to Mîȼäyà מִיכָיָה, 4322 to teach 3925 z8763 in the cities 5892 of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה. 3063

וְעִמָּהֶם הַלְוִיִּם שְׁמַעְיָהוּ וּנְתַנְיָהוּ וּזְבַדְיָהוּ וַעֲשָׂהאֵל *וּשְׁמִרִימוֹת [וּשְׁמִירָמוֹת] וִיהוֹנָתָן וַאֲדֹנִיָּהוּ וְטוֹבִיָּהוּ וְטוֹב אֲדוֹנִיָּה הַלְוִיִּם וְעִמָּהֶם אֱלִישָׁמָע וִיהוֹרָם הַכֹּהֲנִים

וַיְהִי פַּחַד יְהוָה עַל כָּל־מַמְלְכוֹת הָאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹת יְהוּדָה וְלֹא נִלְחֲמוּ עִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָט

 17:11 Also [some] of x4480 the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 brought 935 z8688 Yæhôšäfäţ יְהוֹשָׁפָט 3092 presents, 4503 and tribute 4853 silver; 3701 and x1571 the `Árävîm עֲרָבִים 6163 brought 935 z8688 him flocks, 6629 seven 7651 thousand 505 and seven 7651 hundred 3967 rams, 352 and seven 7651 thousand 505 and seven 7651 hundred 3967 he goats. 8495

וַיְהִי יְהוֹשָׁפָט הֹלֵךְ וְגָדֵל עַד־לְמָעְלָה וַיִּבֶן בִּיהוּדָה בִּירָנִיּוֹת וְעָרֵי מִסְכְּנוֹת

 17:12 ¶ And Yæhôšäfäţ יְהוֹשָׁפָט 3092 waxed 1980 z8802 x1961 great 1432 exceedingly; 4605 x5704 and he built 1129 z8799 in Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה 3063 castles, 1003 and cities 5892 of store. 4543

וּמְלָאכָה רַבָּה הָיָה לוֹ בְּעָרֵי יְהוּדָה וְאַנְשֵׁי מִלְחָמָה גִּבּוֹרֵי חַיִל בִּירוּשָׁלִָם

 17:13 ûm'läkhäh raBäh häyäh lô B'ärëy y'hûdäh w'an'shëy mil'chämäh GiBôrëy chayil Biyrûshäläim

 17:13 And he had x1961 much 7227 business 4399 in the cities 5892 of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה: 3063 and the men y582 x376 of war, 4421 mighty men 1368 of valour, 2428 [were] in Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם. 3389

וְאֵלֶּה פְקֻדָּתָם לְבֵית אֲבוֹתֵיהֶם לִיהוּדָה שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים עַדְנָה הַשָּׂר וְעִמּוֹ גִּבּוֹרֵי חַיִל שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת אָלֶף ס

 17:14 And these x428 [are] the numbers 6486 of them according to the house 1004 of their fathers: 1 Of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה, 3063 the captains 8269 of thousands; 505 `Ađnaç עַדנַח 5734 the chief, 8269 and with x5973 him mighty men 1368 of valour 2428 three 7969 hundred 3967 thousand. 505

וְעַל־יָדוֹ יְהוֹחָנָן הַשָּׂר וְעִמּוֹ מָאתַיִם וּשְׁמוֹנִים אָלֶף ס

 17:15 w'al-yädô y'hôchänän haSär w'iMô mätayim ûsh'môniym älef š

 17:15 And next 3027 x5921 to him [was] Yæhôçänän יְהוֹחָנָן 3076 the captain, 8269 and with x5973 him two hundred 3967 and fourscore 8084 thousand. 505

וְעַל־יָדוֹ עֲמַסְיָה בֶן־זִכְרִי הַמִּתְנַדֵּב לַיהוָה וְעִמּוֹ מָאתַיִם אֶלֶף גִּבּוֹר חָיִל ס

 17:16 w'al-yädô ámaš'yäh ven-zikh'riy haMit'naDëv layhwäh w'iMô mätayim elef GiBôr chäyil š

 17:16 And next 3027 x5921 him [was] `Ámasyà עֲמַסיָה 6007 the son 1121 of Ziȼrî זִכרִי, 2147 who willingly offered y5068 z8693 himself x5068 unto Yähwè יָהוֶה; 3068 and with him x5973 two hundred 3967 thousand 505 mighty men 1368 of valour. 2428

וּמִן־בִּנְיָמִן גִּבּוֹר חַיִל אֶלְיָדָע וְעִמּוֹ נֹשְׁקֵי־קֶשֶׁת וּמָגֵן מָאתַיִם אָלֶף ס

 17:17 ûmin-Bin'yämin GiBôr chayil el'yädä w'iMô nosh'qëy-qeshet ûmägën mätayim älef š

 17:17 And of x4480 Binyämîn בִּניָמִין; 1144 ´Elyäđä` אֶליָדָע 450 a mighty man 1368 of valour, 2428 and with x5973 him armed men 5401 z8802 with bow 7198 and shield 4043 two hundred 3967 thousand. 505

וְעַל־יָדוֹ יְהוֹזָבָד וְעִמּוֹ מֵאָה־וּשְׁמוֹנִים אֶלֶף חֲלוּצֵי צָבָא ס

 17:18 w'al-yädô y'hôzäväd w'iMô mëäh-ûsh'môniym elef chálûtzëy tzävä š

 17:18 And next 3027 x5921 him [was] Yæhôzäväđ יְהוֹזָבָד, 3075 and with x5973 him an hundred 3967 and fourscore 8084 thousand 505 ready prepared 2502 z8803 for the war. 6635
