 7:1 ¶ And it came to passº in the daysº of ´Äçäz אָחָזº the sonº of Yô±äm יוֹתָם,º the sonº of `Uzziyyà עֻזִּיָּה,º kingº of Yæhûðà יְהוּדָה,º [that] Ræxîn רְצִיןº the kingº of ´Áräm אֲרָם,º and Pekaç פֶּקַחº the sonº of Ræmalyà רְמַליָה,º kingº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º went upºº toward Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַםº to warº againstº it, but couldºº notº prevailºº againstº it.

 7:1 ¶ And it came to pass in the days of Achaz the son of Yotham, the son of Uzziyyah, king of Yehudah, [that] Retzin the king of Aram, and Peqach the son of Remalyah, king of Yisrael, went up toward Yerushalaim to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

 7:2 And it was toldºº the houseº of Däwið דָּוִד,º saying,ºº ´Áräm אֲרָםº is confederateºº withº ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִם.º And his heartº was moved,ºº and the heartº of his people,º as the treesº of the woodº are movedºº withºº the wind.º

 7:2 And it was told the house of Dawid, saying, Aram is confederate with Efrayim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

 7:3 Then saidºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº untoº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָה,º Go forthºº nowº to meetººº ´Äçäz אָחָז,º thou,º and Šæ´är Yäšûv שְׁאָר־יָשׁוּבº thy son,º atº the endº of the conduitº of the upperº poolº inº the highwayº of the fuller'sºº field;º

 7:3 Then said Yahweh unto Yeshayah, Go forth now to meet Achaz, thou, and Shear-Yashuv thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

 7:4 And sayºº untoº him, Take heed,ºº and be quiet;ºº fearºº not,º neitherº be faintheartedººº for the twoºº tailsº of theseº smokingº firebrands,º for the fierceº angerº of Ræxîn רְצִיןº with ´Áräm אֲרָם,º and of the sonº of Ræmalyà רְמַליָה.º

 7:4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Retzin with Aram, and of the son of Remalyah.

 7:5 Becauseºº ´Áräm אֲרָם,º ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִם,º and the sonº of Ræmalyà רְמַליָה,º have taken evilº counselºº againstº thee, saying,ºº

 7:5 Because Aram, Efrayim, and the son of Remalyah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

 7:6 Let us go upºº against Yæhûðà יְהוּדָה,º and vexººº it, and let us make a breachºº therein forº us, and setºº a kingºº in the midstº of it, [even]º the sonº of †äv´al טָבאַל:º

 7:6 Let us go up against Yehudah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, [even] the son of Taval:

 7:7 Thusº saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º It shall notº stand,ºº neitherº shall it come to pass.º

 7:7 Thus saith Adonay Yahweh, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

 7:8 Forº the headº of ´Áräm אֲרָםº [is] Dammä$ek דַּמָּשֶׂק,º and the headº of Dammä$ek דַּמָּשֶׂקº [is] Ræxîn רְצִין;º and withinº threescoreº and fiveº yearsº shall ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִםº be broken,ººº that it be not a people.ºº

 7:8 For the head of Aram [is] Dammaseq, and the head of Dammaseq [is] Retzin; and within threescore and five years shall Efrayim be broken, that it be not a people.

 7:9 And the headº of ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִםº [is] Šömrôn שֹׁמרוֹן,º and the headº of Šömrôn שֹׁמרוֹןº [is] Ræmalyà's רְמַליָהº son.º Ifº ye will notº believe,ºº surelyº ye shall notº be established.ºº

 7:9 And the head of Efrayim [is] Shomron, and the head of Shomron [is] Remalyah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

 7:10 ¶ Moreover Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeºº againºº untoº ´Äçäz אָחָז,º saying,ºº

 7:10 ¶ Moreover Yahweh spake again unto Achaz, saying,

 7:11 Askºº thee a signº ofºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים;º askºº it either in the depth,ºº orº in the heightºº above.º

 7:11 Ask thee a sign of Yahweh thy Elohim; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

 7:12 But ´Äçäz אָחָזº said,ºº I will notº ask,ºº neitherº will I temptººº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 7:12 But Achaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.

 7:13 And he said,ºº Hearºº ye now,º O houseº of Däwið דָּוִד;º [Is it] a small thingº forº you to wearyºº men,ºº butº will ye wearyººº my ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº also?º

 7:13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of Dawid; [Is it] a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my Elohim also?

 7:14 Thereforeº Yähwè יָהוֶהº himselfº shall giveºº you a sign;º Behold,º a virginº shall conceive,ºº and bearºº a son,º and shall callºº his nameº `Immänû ´Ël עִמָּנוּ־אֵל.ºº

 7:14 Therefore Yahweh himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu-El.

 7:15 Butterº and honeyº shall he eat,ºº that he may knowºº to refuseºº the evil,º and chooseºº the good.º

 7:15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

 7:16 Forº beforeº the childº shall knowºº to refuseºº the evil,º and chooseºº the good,º the landº thatº thouº abhorrestºº shall beº forsakenºº of bothº her kings.º

 7:16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

 7:17 ¶ Yähwè יָהוֶהº shall bringºº uponº thee, and uponº thy people,º and uponº thy father'sº house,º daysº thatº have notº come,ºº from the dayºº that ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִםº departedºº fromºº Yæhûðà יְהוּדָה;º [even]º the kingº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר.º

 7:17 ¶ Yahweh shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Efrayim departed from Yehudah; [even] the king of Ashshur.

 7:18 And it shall come to passº in thatº day,º [that] Yähwè יָהוֶהº shall hissºº for the flyº thatº [is] in the uttermost partº of the riversº of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם,º and for the beeº thatº [is] in the landº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר.º

 7:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] Yahweh shall hiss for the fly that [is] in the uttermost part of the rivers of Mitzrayim, and for the bee that [is] in the land of Ashshur.

 7:19 And they shall come,ºº and shall restºº allº of them in the desolateº valleys,º and in the holesº of the rocks,º and upon allº thorns,º and upon allº bushes.º

 7:19 And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

 7:20 In the sameº dayº shall Yähwè יָהוֶהº shaveºº with a razorº that is hired,º [namely], by them beyondº the river,º by the kingº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר,ºº the head,º and the hairº of the feet:º and it shall alsoº consumeººº the beard.º

 7:20 In the same day shall Yahweh shave with a razor that is hired, [namely], by them beyond the river, by the king of Ashshur, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

 7:21 And it shall come to passº in thatº day,º [that] a manº shall nourishºº a youngº cow,º and twoº sheep;º

 7:21 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

 7:22 And it shall come to pass,º for the abundanceºº of milkº [that] they shall giveºº he shall eatºº butter:º forº butterº and honeyº shall every oneº eatºº that is leftºº inº the land.º

 7:22 And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk [that] they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

 7:23 And it shall come to passº in thatº day,º [that] everyº placeº shall be,º whereº there wereº a thousandº vinesº at a thousandº silverlings,º it shall [even] beº for briersº and thorns.º

 7:23 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall [even] be for briers and thorns.

 7:24 With arrowsº and with bowsº shall [men] comeºº thither;º becauseº allº the landº shall becomeº briersº and thorns.º

 7:24 With arrows and with bows shall [men] come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

 7:25 And [on] allº hillsº thatº shall be diggedºº with the mattock,º there shall notº comeº thitherººº the fearº of briersº and thorns:º but it shall beº for the sending forthº of oxen,º and for the treadingº of lesser cattle.º

 7:25 And [on] all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
