let them killºº

29:1 ¶
Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city [where] Dawid dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices. |
|
29:2
Yet I will distressºº
´Árî´ël
אֲרִיאֵל,º
and there shall beº
heavinessº
and sorrow:º
and it shall beº
unto me as
´Árî´ël
אֲרִיאֵל.º |
|
29:2
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel. |
|
29:3
And I will campºº
againstº
thee round about,º
and will lay siegeºº
againstº
thee with a mount,º
and I will raiseºº
fortsº
againstº
thee. |
|
29:3
And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee. |
|
29:4
And thou shalt be brought down,ºº
[and] shalt speakºº
out of the ground,ºº
and thy speechº
shall be lowºº
out of the dust,ºº
and thy voiceº
shall be,º
as of one that hath a familiar spirit,º
out of the ground,ºº
and thy speechº
shall whisperºº
out of the dust.ºº |

And thou shalt be brought down, [and] shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust. |

29:5
Moreover the multitudeº
of thy strangersºº
shall beº
like smallº
dust,º
and the multitudeº
of the terrible onesº
[shall be] as chaffº
that passeth away:ºº
yea, it shall beº
at an instantº
suddenly.º |

29:5
Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones [shall be] as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly. |
|
29:6
Thou shalt be visitedºº
ofºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
Xævä´ô±
צְבָאוֹתº
with thunder,º
and with earthquake,º
and greatº
noise,º
with stormº
and tempest,º
and the flameº
of devouringºº
fire.º |

29:6
Thou shalt be visited of Yahweh Tzevaoth with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire. |
|
29:7 ¶
And the multitudeº
of allº
the nationsº
that fightºº
againstº
´Árî´ël
אֲרִיאֵל,º
even allº
that fightººº
against her and her munition,º
and that distressºº
her, shall beº
as a dreamº
of a nightº
vision.º |

29:7 ¶
And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. |
|
29:8
It shall even beº
as whenº
an hungryº
[man] dreameth,ºº
and, behold,º
he eateth;ºº
but he awaketh,ºº
and his soulº
is empty:º
or as whenº
a thirsty manº
dreameth,ºº
and, behold,º
he drinketh;ºº
but he awaketh,ºº
and, behold,º
[he is] faint,º
and his soulº
hath appetite:ºº
soº
shall the multitudeº
of allº
the nationsº
be,º
that fightºº
againstº
mountº

צִיּוֹן.º |

29:8
It shall even be as when an hungry [man] dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, [he is] faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Tziyyon. |

yourselves,º
and wonder;ºº
cry ye out,ºº
and cry:ºº
they are drunken,ºº
but notº
with wine;º
they stagger,ºº
but notº
with strong drink.º |

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. |

יָהוֶהº
hath poured outºº
uponº
you the spiritº
of deep sleep,º
and hath closedººº
your eyes:ºº
the prophetsº
and your rulers,º
the seersº
hath he covered.ºº |

29:10
For Yahweh hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. |

29:11
And the visionº
of allº
is becomeº
unto you as the wordsº
of a bookº
that is sealed,ºº
whichº
[men] deliverºº
toº
one that is learned,ººº
saying,ºº
Readºº
this,º
I pray thee:º
and he saith,ºº
I cannot;ººº
forº
itº
[is] sealed:ºº |

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which [men] deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it [is] sealed: |

29:12
And the bookº
is deliveredºº
toº
him thatº
is not learned,ºººº
saying,ºº
Readºº
this,º
I pray thee:º
and he saith,ºº
I am not learned.ºººº |

29:12
And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. |
|
29:13 ¶
Wherefore
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
said,ºº
Forasmuchºº
as thisº
peopleº
draw nearºº
[me] with their mouth,º
and with their lipsº
do honourºº
me, but have removedºº
their heartº
farººº
fromº
me, and their fearº
towardº
me isº
taughtºº
by the preceptº
of men:ºº |

29:13 ¶
Wherefore Yahweh said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: |

29:14
Therefore,º
behold,º
I will proceedºº
to do a marvellous workºº
amongº
thisº
people,º
[even] a marvellous workºº
and a wonder:º
for the wisdomº
of their wiseº
[men] shall perish,ºº
and the understandingº
of their prudentºº
[men] shall be hid.ºº |

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, [even] a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise [men] shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent [men] shall be hid. |

Woeº
unto them that seek deepºº
to hideºº
their counselº
from
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,ºº
and their worksº
areº
in the dark,º
and they say,ºº
Whoº
seethºº
us? and whoº
knowethºº
us? |

29:15
Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from Yahweh, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? |
|
29:16
Surelyº
your turning of things upside downºº
shall be esteemedºº
as the potter'sºº
clay:º
forº
shall the workº
sayºº
of him that madeºº
it, He madeºº
me not?º
or shall the thing framedº
sayºº
of him that framedºº
it, He had no understanding?ººº |
|
29:16
Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? |
|
29:17
[Is] it notº
yetº
a veryº
little while,º
and
Lævänôn
לְבָנוֹןº
shall be turnedºº
into a fruitful field,º
and the fruitful fieldº
shall be esteemedºº
as a forest?º |
|
29:17
[Is] it not yet a very little while, and Levanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest? |
|
29:18 ¶
And in thatº
dayº
shall the deafº
hearºº
the wordsº
of the book,º
and the eyesº
of the blindº
shall seeºº
out of obscurity,ºº
and out of darkness.ºº |

29:18 ¶
And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. |

29:19
The meekº
also shall increaseºº
[their] joyº
in
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
and the poorº
among menº
shall rejoiceºº
in the Holy Oneº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.º |

29:19
The meek also shall increase [their] joy in Yahweh, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Yisrael. |
|
29:20
Forº
the terrible oneº
is brought to nought,ºº
and the scornerºº
is consumed,ºº
and allº
that watchºº
for iniquityº
are cut off:ºº |
|
29:20
For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off: |
|
29:21
That make a manº
an offenderººº
for a word,º
and lay a snareºº
for him that reprovethºº
in the gate,º
and turn asideºº
the justº
for a thing of nought.º |

29:21
That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought. |

29:22
Thereforeº
thusº
saithºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
whoº
redeemedººº
´Avrähäm
אַברָהָם,º
concerningº
the houseº
of
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב,º
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹבº
shall notº
nowº
be ashamed,ºº
neitherº
shall his faceº
nowº
wax pale.ºº |

29:22
Therefore thus saith Yahweh, who redeemed Avraham, concerning the house of Yaaqov, Yaaqov shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale. |

29:23
But whenº
he seethºº
his children,º
the workº
of mine hands,º
in the midstº
of him, they shall sanctifyºº
my name,º
and sanctifyººº
the Holy Oneº
of
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב,º
and shall fearºº
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.º |

But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Yaaqov, and shall fear the Elohim of Yisrael. |

29:24
They also that erredºº
in spiritº
shall comeºº
to understanding,º
and they that murmuredºº
shall learnºº
doctrine.º |

They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine. |
