it is revealedºº

23:1 ¶
The burden of Tzor. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Kittim it is revealed to them. |

Be still,ºº
ye inhabitantsºº
of the isle;º
thou whom the merchantsºº
of
Xîðôn
צִידוֹן,º
that pass overºº
the sea,º
have replenished.ºº |

Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Tzidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished. |

23:3
And by greatº
watersº
the seedº
of
Šîçôr
שִׁיחוֹר,º
the harvestº
of the river,º
[is] her revenue;º
and she isº
a martº
of nations.º |

23:3
And by great waters the seed of Shichor, the harvest of the river, [is] her revenue; and she is a mart of nations. |
|

Be thou ashamed,ºº
O
Xîðôn
צִידוֹן:º
forº
the seaº
hath spoken,ºº
[even] the strengthº
of the sea,º
saying,ºº
I travailºº
not,º
norº
bring forth children,ºº
neitherº
do I nourish upºº
young men,º
[nor] bring upºº
virgins.º |

Be thou ashamed, O Tzidon: for the sea hath spoken, [even] the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, [nor] bring up virgins. |

Asº
at the reportº
concerning
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
[so] shall they be sorely painedºº
at the reportº
of
Xôr
צוֹר.º |

23:5
As at the report concerning Mitzrayim, [so] shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tzor. |
|

Pass ye overºº
to
Taršîš
תַּרשִׁישׁ;º
howl,ºº
ye inhabitantsºº
of the isle.º |

23:6
Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle. |
|
23:7
[Is] thisº
your joyousº
[city], whose antiquityº
[is] of ancientº
days?ºº
her own feetº
shall carryºº
her afar offºº
to sojourn.ºº |

[Is] this your joyous [city], whose antiquity [is] of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn. |

Whoº
hath taken this counselººº
againstº
Xôr
צוֹר,º
the crowningºº
[city], whoseº
merchantsºº
[are] princes,º
whose traffickersºº
[are] the honourableºº
of the earth?º |

Who hath taken this counsel against Tzor, the crowning [city], whose merchants [are] princes, whose traffickers [are] the honourable of the earth? |

the prideº

glory,º
[and] to bring into contemptºº

the honourableºº

Yahweh Tzevaoth hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, [and] to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth. |

throughº
thy landº
as a river,º
O daughterº
of
Taršîš
תַּרשִׁישׁ:º
[there is] noº
moreº
strength.º |

Pass through thy land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: [there is] no more strength. |
|
23:11
He stretched outºº
his handº
overº
the sea,º
he shookºº
the kingdoms:º
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath given a commandmentºº
againstº
the merchantº
[city], to destroyºº
the strongº
holdsº
thereof. |

He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: Yahweh hath given a commandment against the merchant [city], to destroy the strong holds thereof. |
|
23:12
And he said,ºº
Thou shalt noº
moreººº
rejoice,ºº
O thou oppressedºº
virgin,º
daughterº
of
Xîðôn
צִידוֹן:º
arise,ºº
pass overºº
to
Cittîm
כִּתִּים;º
thereº
alsoº
shalt thou have no rest.ººº |

And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Tzidon: arise, pass over to Kittim; there also shalt thou have no rest. |

the landº
of the
Ca$dîm
כַּשׂדִּים;º
thisº
peopleº
wasº
not,º
[till] the
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּרº
foundedºº
it for them that dwell in the wilderness:º
they set upºº
the towersº
thereof, they raised upºº
the palacesº
thereof; [and] he broughtºº
it to ruin.º |

Behold the land of the Kasdim; this people was not, [till] the Ashshur founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; [and] he brought it to ruin. |

your strengthº

Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste. |

23:15
And it shall come to passº
in thatº
day,º
that
Xôr
צוֹרº
shall be forgottenºº
seventyº
years,º
according to the daysº
of oneº
king:º
after the endºº
of seventyº
yearsº
shall
Xôr
צוֹרº
singº
as an harlot.ºº |

23:15
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tzor shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tzor sing as an harlot. |

Takeºº
an harp,º
go aboutºº
the city,º
thou harlotºº
that hast been forgotten;ºº
make sweetºº
melody,ºº
sing manyºº
songs,º
thatº
thou mayest be remembered.ºº |

Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered. |

23:17 ¶
And it shall come to passº
after the endºº
of seventyº
years,º
that

יָהוֶהº
will visitººº
Xôr
צוֹר,º
and she shall turnºº
to her hire,º
and shall commit fornicationºº
withº
allº
the kingdomsº
of the worldº
uponº
the faceº
of the earth.º |

And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that Yahweh will visit Tzor, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. |

And her merchandiseº
and her hireº
shall beº
holinessº
to
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
it shall notº
be treasuredºº
norº
laid up;ºº
forº
her merchandiseº
shall beº
for them that dwellºº
beforeº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
to eatºº
sufficiently,º
and for durableº
clothing.º |

And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to Yahweh: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing. |
