 31:1 ¶ Woeº to them that go downºº to Mixrayim מִצרַיִםº for help;º and stayºº onº horses,º and trustºº inº chariots,º becauseº [they are] many;º and inº horsemen,º becauseº they are veryº strong;ººº but they lookºº notº untoº the Holy Oneº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º neitherº seekºº Yähwè יָהוֶה!º

 31:1 ¶ Woe to them that go down to Mitzrayim for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Yisrael, neither seek Yahweh!

 31:2 Yet heº alsoº [is] wise,º and will bringºº evil,º and will notº call backºº his words:º but will ariseºº againstº the houseº of the evildoers,ºº and againstº the helpº of them that workºº iniquity.º

 31:2 Yet he also [is] wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

 31:3 Now the Mixrîm מִצרִיםº [are] men,º and notº ´Ël אֵל;º and their horsesº flesh,º and notº spirit.º When Yähwè יָהוֶהº shall stretch outºº his hand,º both he that helpethºº shall fall,ºº and he that is holpenºº shall fall down,ºº and they allº shall failºº together.º

 31:3 Now the Mitzrim [are] men, and not El; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

 31:4 Forº thusº hath Yähwè יָהוֶהº spokenºº untoº me, Like asº the lionº and the young lionº roaringºº onº his prey,º whenº a multitudeº of shepherdsºº is called forthºº againstº him, [he] will notº be afraidºº of their voice,ºº norº abaseºº himself for the noiseºº of them: soº shall Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹתº come downºº to fightºº forº mountº Xiyyôn צִיּוֹן,º and forº the hillº thereof.

 31:4 For thus hath Yahweh spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, [he] will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall Yahweh Tzevaoth come down to fight for mount Tziyyon, and for the hill thereof.

 31:5 As birdsº flying,ºº soº will Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹתº defendººº Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם;º defendingºº also he will deliverºº [it; and] passing overºº he will preserveºº it.

 31:5 As birds flying, so will Yahweh Tzevaoth defend Yerushalaim; defending also he will deliver [it; and] passing over he will preserve it.

 31:6 ¶ Turnºº ye unto [him from] whomº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº have deeplyºº revolted.º

 31:6 ¶ Turn ye unto [him from] whom the children of Yisrael have deeply revolted.

 31:7 Forº in thatº dayº every manº shall cast awayºº his idolsº of silver,º and his idolsº of gold,º whichº your own handsº have madeºº unto you [for] a sin.º

 31:7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you [for] a sin.

 31:8 ¶ Then shall the ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּרº fallºº with the sword,º notº of a mighty man;º and the sword,º notº of a mean man,º shall devourºº him: but he shall fleeºº fromºº the sword,º and his young menº shall beº discomfited.º

 31:8 ¶ Then shall the Ashshur fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.

 31:9 And he shall pass overºº to his strong holdº for fear,ºº and his princesº shall be afraidºº of the ensign,ºº saithºº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º whoseº fireº [is] in Xiyyôn צִיּוֹן,º and his furnaceº in Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם.º

 31:9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith Yahweh, whose fire [is] in Tziyyon, and his furnace in Yerushalaim.
