 20:1 ¶ In the yearº that Tartän תַּרתָּןº cameºº unto ´Ašdôð אַשׁדּוֹד,º (when Sarqôn סַרגוֹןº the kingº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּרº sentºº him,) and foughtºº against ´Ašdôð אַשׁדּוֹד,º and tookºº it;

 20:1 ¶ In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Ashshur sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

 20:2 At the sameº timeº spakeºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº byº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָהº the sonº of ´Ämôx אָמוֹץ,º saying,ºº Goººº and looseºº the sackclothº from offºº thy loins,º and put offºº thy shoeº fromºº thy foot.º And he didº so,ººº walkingºº nakedº and barefoot.º

 20:2 At the same time spake Yahweh by Yeshayah the son of Amotz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

 20:3 And Yähwè יָהוֶהº said,ºº Like asº my servantº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָהº hath walkedºº nakedº and barefootº threeº yearsº [for] a signº and wonderº uponº Mixrayim מִצרַיִםº and uponº Cûš כּוּשׁ;º

 20:3 And Yahweh said, Like as my servant Yeshayah hath walked naked and barefoot three years [for] a sign and wonder upon Mitzrayim and upon Kush;

 20:4 Soº shall the kingº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּרº lead awayººº the Mixrîm מִצרִיםº prisoners,º and the Cûšîm כּוּשִׁיםº captives,º youngº and old,º nakedº and barefoot,º even with [their] buttocksº uncovered,ºº to the shameº of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם.º

 20:4 So shall the king of Ashshur lead away the Mitzrim prisoners, and the Kushim captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with [their] buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Mitzrayim.

 20:5 And they shall be afraidºº and ashamedºº of Cûš כּוּשׁºº their expectation,º and ofº Mixrayim מִצרַיִםº their glory.º

 20:5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Kush their expectation, and of Mitzrayim their glory.

 20:6 And the inhabitantºº of thisº isleº shall sayºº in thatº day,º Behold,º suchº [is] our expectation,º whitherºº we fleeºº for helpº to be deliveredºº fromºº the kingº of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר:º and howº shall weº escape?ºº

 20:6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such [is] our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Ashshur: and how shall we escape?
