16:1 ¶
Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Tziyyon. |

16:2
For it shall be,º
[that], as a wanderingºº
birdº
cast outºº
of the nest,º
[so] the daughtersº
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָבº
shall beº
at the fordsº
of
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן.º |
|
16:2
For it shall be, [that], as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, [so] the daughters of Moav shall be at the fords of Arnon. |

16:3
Takeºº
counsel,º
executeºº
judgment;º
makeºº
thy shadowº
as the nightº
in the midstº
of the noonday;º
hideºº
the outcasts;ºº
bewrayºº
notº
him that wandereth.ºº |

16:3
Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth. |

16:4
Let mine outcastsºº
dwellºº
with thee,
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב;º
beºº
thou a covertº
to them from the faceºº
of the spoiler:ºº
forº
the extortionerºº
is at an end,ºº
the spoilerº
ceaseth,ºº
the oppressorsºº
are consumedºº
out ofº
the land.º |

16:4
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moav; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land. |

16:5
And in mercyº
shall the throneº
be established:ºº
and he shall sitºº
uponº
it in truthº
in the tabernacleº
of
Däwið
דָּוִד,º
judging,ºº
and seekingºº
judgment,º
and hastingº
righteousness.º |

16:5
And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of Dawid, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness. |

16:6 ¶
We have heardºº
of the prideº
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב;º
[he is] veryº
proud:º
[even] of his haughtiness,º
and his pride,º
and his wrath:º
[but] his liesº
[shall] notº
[be] so.º |

16:6 ¶
We have heard of the pride of Moav; [he is] very proud: [even] of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: [but] his lies [shall] not [be] so. |

16:7
Thereforeº

for
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,º
every oneº
shall howl:ºº
for the foundationsº
of
Kîr Çáre$e±
קִיר־חֲרֶשֶׂתº
shall ye mourn;ºº
surelyº
[they are] stricken.º |

16:7
Therefore shall Moav howl for Moav, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Qir-Chareseth shall ye mourn; surely [they are] stricken. |

16:8
Forº
the fieldsº
of
Çešbôn
חֶשׁבּוֹןº
languish,ºº
[and] the vineº
of
§ivmà
שִׂבמָה:º
the lordsº
of the heathenº
have broken downºº
the principal plantsº
thereof, they are comeºº
[even] untoº
Ya`zër
יַעזֵר,º
they wanderedºº
[through] the wilderness:º
her branchesº
are stretched out,ºº
they are gone overºº
the sea.º |

16:8
For the fields of Cheshbon languish, [and] the vine of Sivmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come [even] unto Yazer, they wandered [through] the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea. |

16:9 ¶
Thereforeºº
I will bewailºº
with the weepingº
of
Ya`zër
יַעזֵרº
the vineº
of
§ivmà
שִׂבמָה:º
I will waterºº
thee with my tears,º
O
Çešbôn
חֶשׁבּוֹן,º
and
´El`älì
אֶלעָלֵה:º
forº
the shoutingº
forº
thy summer fruitsº
and forº
thy harvestº
is fallen.ºº |

16:9 ¶
Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Yazer the vine of Sivmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Cheshbon, and Elaleh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen. |

16:10
And gladnessº
is taken away,ºº
and joyº
out ofº
the plentiful field;º
and in the vineyardsº
there shall be noº
singing,ºº
neitherº
shall there be shouting:ºº
the treadersºº
shall treadº
outºº
noº
wineº
in [their] presses;º
I have made [their vintage] shoutingº
to cease.ºº |

16:10
And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in [their] presses; I have made [their vintage] shouting to cease. |

16:11
Whereforeºº
my bowelsº
shall soundºº
like an harpº
for
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,º
and mine inward partsº
for
Kîr Çäre$
קִיר־חָרֶשׂ.º |
|
16:11
Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moav, and mine inward parts for Qir-Chares. |
|
16:12 ¶
And it shall come to pass,º
whenº
it is seenºº
thatº
Mô´äv
מוֹאָבº
is wearyºº
onº
the high place,º
that he shall comeºº
toº
his sanctuaryº
to pray;ºº
but he shall notº
prevail.ºº |
|
16:12 ¶
And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moav is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail. |

16:13
Thisº
[is] the wordº
thatº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath spokenºº
concerningº
Mô´äv
מוֹאָבº
since that time.ºº |

16:13
This [is] the word that Yahweh hath spoken concerning Moav since that time. |
|
16:14
But nowº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath spoken,ºº
saying,ºº
Within threeº
years,º
as the yearsº
of an hireling,º
and the gloryº
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָבº
shall be contemned,ºº
with allº
that greatº
multitude;º
and the remnantº
[shall be] veryº
smallºº
[and] feeble.ºº |

But now Yahweh hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an hireling, and the glory of Moav shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant [shall be] very small [and] feeble. |
