We have a strongº
city;º
salvationº
will
[Yähwè
יָהוֶה] appointºº
[for] wallsº
and bulwarks.º |

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Yehudah; We have a strong city; salvation will [Yahweh] appoint [for] walls and bulwarks. |

ye the gates,º
that the righteousº
nationº
which keepethºº
the truthº
may enter in.ºº |

Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. |
|

Thou wilt keepºº
[him] in perfectº
peace,º
[whose] mindº
[is] stayedºº
[on thee]: becauseº
he trustethºº
in thee. |

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. |

he bringeth downºº
them that dwellºº
on high;º
the loftyºº
city,º
he layeth it low;ºº
he layeth it low,ºº
[even] toº
the ground;º
he bringethºº
it [even] toº
the dust.º |

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, [even] to the ground; he bringeth it [even] to the dust. |

The footº
shall tread it down,ºº
[even] the feetº
of the poor,º
[and] the stepsº
of the needy.º |

The foot shall tread it down, [even] the feet of the poor, [and] the steps of the needy. |

The wayº
of the justº
[is] uprightness:º
thou, most upright,º
dost weighºº
the pathº
of the just.º |

The way of the just [is] uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just. |

Yea,º
in the wayº
of thy judgments,º

Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
have we waitedºº
for thee; the desireº
of [our] soulº
[is] to thy name,º
and to the remembranceº
of thee. |

Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Yahweh, have we waited for thee; the desire of [our] soul [is] to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. |

With my soulº
have I desiredºº
thee in the night;º
yea,º
with my spiritº
withinº
me will I seek thee early:ºº
forº
whenº
thy judgmentsº
[are] in the earth,º
the inhabitantsºº
of the worldº
will learnºº
righteousness.º |

With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments [are] in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. |

Let favour be shewedºº
to the wicked,º
[yet] will he notº
learnºº
righteousness:º
in the landº
of uprightnessº
will he deal unjustly,ºº
and will notº
beholdºº
the majestyº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |

26:10
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, [yet] will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of Yahweh. |

Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
[when] thy handº
is lifted up,ººº
they will notº
see:ºº
[but] they shall see,ºº
and be ashamedºº
for [their] envyº
at the people;º
yea,º
the fireº
of thine enemiesº
shall devourºº
them. |

26:11
Yahweh, [when] thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: [but] they shall see, and be ashamed for [their] envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them. |

יָהוֶה,º
thou wilt ordainºº
peaceº
for us: forº
thou alsoº
hast wroughtºº
allº
our worksº
in us. |

26:12 ¶
Yahweh, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us. |

´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
[other]
´áðönîm
אֲדֹנִיםº
besideº
thee have had dominionºº
over us: [but] by thee onlyº
will we make mentionºº
of thy name.º |

O Yahweh our Elohim, [other] adonim beside thee have had dominion over us: [but] by thee only will we make mention of thy name. |

[They are] dead,ºº
they shall notº
live;ºº
[they are] deceased,º
they shall notº
rise:ºº
thereforeº
hast thou visitedºº
and destroyedºº
them, and made allº
their memoryº
to perish.ºº |

[They are] dead, they shall not live; [they are] deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. |

Thou hast increasedºº
the nation,º

the endsº

Thou hast increased the nation, O Yahweh, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed [it] far [unto] all the ends of the earth. |

in troubleº
have they visitedºº
thee, they poured outºº
a prayerº
[when] thy chasteningº
[was] upon them. |

Yahweh, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer [when] thy chastening [was] upon them. |

Likeº
asº
a woman with child,º
[that] draweth nearºº
the time of her delivery,ºº
is in pain,ºº
[and] crieth outºº
in her pangs;º
soº
have we beenº
in thy sight,ºº

יָהוֶה.º |

26:17
Like as a woman with child, [that] draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Yahweh. |

We have been with child,ºº
we have been in pain,ºº
we have as it wereº
brought forthºº
wind;º
we have notº
wroughtºº
any deliveranceº
in the earth;º
neitherº
have the inhabitantsºº
of the worldº
fallen.ºº |

We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. |

Thy deadºº
[men] shall live,ºº
[together with] my dead bodyº
shall they arise.ºº
Awakeºº
and sing,ºº
ye that dwellºº
in dust:º
forº
thy dewº
[is as] the dewº
of herbs,º
and the earthº
shall cast outºº
the dead.º |

Thy dead [men] shall live, [together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew [is as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. |

my people,º
enterºº
thou into thy chambers,º
and shutºº
thy doorsº
aboutº
thee: hideºº
thyself as it were for a littleº
moment,º
untilº
the indignationº
be overpast.ºº |

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. |

For,º
behold,º

יָהוֶהº
comethº

of his placeºº
to punishºº
the inhabitantsºº
of the earthº
for their iniquity:º
the earthº
also shall discloseººº
her blood,º
and shall noº
moreº
coverººº
her slain.ºº |

For, behold, Yahweh cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. |
