Matthew 6

1 Christ continueth his sermon in the mount, speaking of alms, 5 prayer, 14 forgiving our brethren, 16 fasting, 19 where our treasure is to be laid up, 24 of serving God, and mammon, 25 exhorteth not to be careful for worldly things: 33 but to seek God's Kingdom.

 6:1 “Beware 4337 of practicing 4160 your righteousness 1343 before 1715 men 444 to be noticed 2300 by them; otherwise 1490b you have 2192 no 3756 reward 3408 with your Father 3962 who 3588 is in heaven 3772.

 6:2 ¶ “So 3767 when 3752 you give 4160 to the poor, do not sound 4537 a trumpet 4537 before 1715 you, as the hypocrites 5273 do 4160 in the synagogues 4864 and in the streets 4505, so 3767 that they may be honored 1392 by men 444. Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, they have 568 their reward 3408 in full 568.

 6:3 “But when you give 4160 to the poor, do not let your left 710 hand 710 know 1097 what 5101 your right 1188 hand 1188 is doing 4160,

 6:4 so 3704 that your giving 1654 will be in secret 2927; and your Father 3962 who sees 991 [what is done] in secret 2927 will reward 591 you.

 6:5 ¶ “When 3752 you pray 4336, you are not to be like 5613 the hypocrites 5273; for they love 5368 to stand 2476 and pray 4336 in the synagogues 4864 and on the street 4116 corners 1137 so 3704 that they may be seen 5316 by men 444. Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, they have 568 their reward 3408 in full 568.

 6:6 “But you, when 3752 you pray 4336, go 1525 into your inner 5009 room 5009, close 2808 your door 2374 and pray 4336 to your Father 3962 who 3588 is in secret 2927, and your Father 3962 who 3588 sees 991 [what is done] in secret 2927 will reward 591 you.

 6:7 ¶ “And when you are praying 4336, do not use 945 meaningless 945 repetition 945 as the Gentiles 1482 do, for they suppose 1380 that they will be heard 1522 for their many 4180 words 4180.

 6:8 “So 3767 do not be like 3666 them; for your Father 3962 knows 3609a what 3739 you need 5532 before 4253 you ask 154 Him.

 6:9 ¶ “Pray 4336, then 3767, in this 3779 way 3779: ‘Our Father 3962 who 3588 is in heaven 3772, Hallowed 37 be Your name 3686.

 6:10 ‘Your kingdom 932 come 2064. Your will 2307 be done 1096, On earth 1093 as it is in heaven 3772.

 6:11 ‘Give 1325 us this 4594 day 4594 our daily 1967 bread 740.

 6:12 ‘And forgive 863 us our debts 3783, as we also 2532 have forgiven 863 our debtors 3781.

 6:13 ‘And do not lead 1533 us into temptation 3986, but deliver 4506 us from evil 4190. [[For Yours 4771 is the kingdom 932 and the power 1411 and the glory 1391 forever 165. Amen 281.’]]

 6:14 “For if 1437 you forgive 863 others 444 for their transgressions 3900, your heavenly 3770 Father 3962 will also 2532 forgive 863 you.

 6:15 “But if 1437 you do not forgive 863 others 444, then 3761 your Father 3962 will not forgive 863 your transgressions 3900.

 6:16 ¶ “Whenever 3752 you fast 3522, do not put 1096 on a gloomy 4659 face 4659 as the hypocrites 5273 [do], for they neglect 853 their appearance 4383 so 3704 that they will be noticed 5316 by men 444 when they are fasting 3522. Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, they have 568 their reward 3408 in full 568.

 6:17 “But you, when you fast 3522, anoint 218b your head 2776 and wash 3538 your face 4383

 6:18 so 3704 that your fasting 3522 will not be noticed 5316 by men 444, but by your Father 3962 who 3588 is in secret 2931a; and your Father 3962 who 3588 sees 991 [what is done] in secret 2931a will reward 591 you.

 6:19 ¶ “Do not store 2343 up for yourselves 4771 treasures 2344 on earth 1093, where 3699 moth 4597 and rust 1035 destroy 853, and where 3699 thieves 2812 break 1358 in and steal 2813.

 6:20 “But store 2343 up for yourselves 4771 treasures 2344 in heaven 3772, where 3699 neither 3777 moth 4597 nor 3777 rust 1035 destroys 853, and where 3699 thieves 2812 do not break 1358 in or 3761 steal 2813;

 6:21 for where 3699 your treasure 2344 is, there 1563 your heart 2588 will be also 2532.

 6:22 ¶ “The eye 3788 is the lamp 3088 of the body 4983; so 3767 then 3767 if 1437 your eye 3788 is clear 573, your whole 3650 body 4983 will be full 5460 of light 5460.

 6:23 “But if 1437 your eye 3788 is bad 4190, your whole 3650 body 4983 will be full 4652 of darkness 4652. If 1487 then 3767 the light 5457 that is in you is darkness 4655, how 4214 great 4214 is the darkness 4655!

 6:24 ¶ “No 3762 one 3762 can 1410 serve 1398 two 1417 masters 2962; for either 2228 he will hate 3404 the one 1520 and love 25 the other 2087, or 2228 he will be devoted 472 to one 1520 and despise 2706 the other 2087. You cannot 1410 3756 serve 1398 God 2316 and wealth 3126.

 6:25 ¶ “For this 3778 reason 1223 I say 3004 to you, do not be worried 3309 about 3588 your life 5590, [as to] what 5101 you will eat 2068 or 2228 what 5101 you will drink 4095; nor 3366 for your body 4983, [as to] what 5101 you will put 1746a on. Is not life 5590 more 4183 than food 5160, and the body 4983 more 4183 than clothing 1742?

 6:26 “Look 1689 at the birds 4071 of the air 3772, that they do not sow 4687, nor 3761 reap 2325 nor 3761 gather 4863 into barns 596, and [yet] your heavenly 3770 Father 3962 feeds 5142 them. Are you not worth 1308 much 3123 more 1308 than they?

 6:27 “And who 5101 of you by being worried 3309 can 1410 add 4369 a [single] hour 4083 to his life 2244?

 6:28 “And why 5101 are you worried 3309 about 4012 clothing 1742? Observe 2648 how 4459 the lilies 2918 of the field 68 grow 837; they do not toil 2872 nor 3761 do they spin 3514,

 6:29 yet 1161 I say 3004 to you that not even 3761 Solomon 4672 in all 3956 his glory 1391 clothed 4016 himself like 5613 one 1520 of these 3778.

 6:30 “But if 1487 God 2316 so 3779 clothes 294 the grass 5528 of the field 68, which is [alive] today 4594 and tomorrow 839 is thrown 906 into the furnace 2823, [will He] not much 4183 more 3123 [clothe] you? You of little 3640b faith 3640b!

 6:31 “Do not worry 3309 then 3767, saying 3004, ‘What 5101 will we eat 2068?’ or 2228 ‘What 5101 will we drink 4095?’ or 2228 ‘What 5101 will we wear 4016 for clothing 4016?’

 6:32 “For the Gentiles 1484 eagerly 1934 seek 1934 all 3956 these 3778 things 3778; for your heavenly 3770 Father 3962 knows 3609a that you need 5535 all 537a these 3778 things 3778.

 6:33 “But seek 2212 first 4413 His kingdom 932 and His righteousness 1343, and all 3956 these 3778 things 3778 will be added 4369 to you.

 6:34 ¶ “So 3767 do not worry 3309 about 1519 tomorrow 839; for tomorrow 839 will care 3309 for itself 1438. Each day 2250 has enough 713 trouble 2549 of its own.
