Matthew 12

1 Christ reproveth the blindness of the Pharisees concerning the breach of the Sabbath, 3 by Scriptures, 10 by reason, 13 and by a miracle. 22 He healeth the man possessed that was blind and dumb. 31 Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall never be forgiven. 36 Account shall be made of idle words. 38 He rebuketh the unfaithful, who seek after a sign: 49 and sheweth who is his brother, sister, and mother.

 12:1 At that time 2540 Jesus 2424 went 4198 through 1223 the grainfields 4702 on the Sabbath 4521, and His disciples 3101 became hungry 3983 and began 757 to pick 5089 the heads 4719 [of grain] and eat 2068.

 12:2 But when the Pharisees 5330 saw 3708 [this], they said 3004 to Him, “Look 2400, Your disciples 3101 do 4160 what 3739 is not lawful 1832 to do 4160 on a Sabbath 4521.”

 12:3 But He said 3004 to them, “Have you not read 314 what 5101 David 1160b did 4160 when 3753 he became hungry 3983, he and his companions 3588 3326,

 12:4 how 4459 he entered 1525 the house 3624 of God 2316, and they ate 2068 the consecrated 4286 bread 740, which 3739 was not lawful 1832 for him to eat 2068 nor 3761 for those 3588 with him, but for the priests 2409 alone 3441?

 12:5 “Or 2228 have you not read 314 in the Law 3551, that on the Sabbath 4521 the priests 2409 in the temple 2413 break 953 the Sabbath 4521 and are innocent 338?

 12:6 “But I say 3004 to you that something greater 3173 than the temple 2413 is here 5602.

 12:7 “But if 1487 you had known 1097 what 5101 this means 1510, ‘I DESIRE 2309 COMPASSION 1656, AND NOT A SACRIFICE 2378,’ you would not have condemned 2613a the innocent 338.

 12:8 “For the Son 5207 of Man 444 is Lord 2962 of the Sabbath 4521.”

 12:9 ¶ Departing 3327 from there 1564, He went 2064 into their synagogue 4864.

 12:10 And a man 444 [was there] whose hand 5495 was withered 3584. And they questioned 1905 Jesus, asking 3004, “Is it lawful 1832 to heal 2323 on the Sabbath 4521?”—so 2443 that they might accuse 2723 Him.

 12:11 And He said 3004 to them, “What 5101 man 444 is there among 1537 you who 3739 has 2192 a sheep 4263b, and if 1437 it falls 1706 into a pit 999 on the Sabbath 4521, will he not take 2902 hold 2902 of it and lift 1453 it out?

 12:12 “How 4214 much 4214 more 1308 valuable 1308 then 3767 is a man 444 than a sheep 4263b! So 5620 then 5620, it is lawful 1832 to do 4160 good 2573 on the Sabbath 4521.”

 12:13 Then 5119 He *said 3004 to the man 444, “Stretch 1614 out your hand 5495!” He stretched 1614 it out, and it was restored 600 to normal 5199, like 5613 the other 243.

 12:14 But the Pharisees 5330 went 1831 out and conspired 4824 2983 against 2596 Him, [as to] how 3704 they might destroy 622 Him.

 12:15 ¶ But Jesus 2424, aware 1097 of [this], withdrew 402 from there 1564. Many 4183 followed 190 Him, and He healed 2323 them all 3956,

 12:16 and warned 2008 them not to tell 5318 who 846 He was.

 12:17 [This was] to fulfill 4137 what 3588 was spoken 3004 through 1223 Isaiah 2268 the prophet 4396:

 12:18 “BEHOLD 2400, MY SERVANT 3816 WHOM 3739 I HAVE CHOSEN 140; MY BELOVED 27 IN WHOM 3739 MY SOUL 5590 is WELL-PLEASED 2106; I WILL PUT 5087 MY SPIRIT 4151 UPON HIM, AND HE SHALL PROCLAIM 518 JUSTICE 2920 TO THE GENTILES 1484.

 12:19 “HE WILL NOT QUARREL 2051, NOR 3761 CRY 2905 OUT; NOR 3761 WILL ANYONE 5100 HEAR 191 HIS VOICE 5456 IN THE STREETS 4116.

 12:20 “A BATTERED 4937 REED 2563 HE WILL NOT BREAK 2608a OFF, AND A SMOLDERING 5188 WICK 3043 HE WILL NOT PUT 4570 OUT, UNTIL 2193 HE LEADS 1544b JUSTICE 2920 TO VICTORY 3534.

 12:21 “AND IN HIS NAME 3686 THE GENTILES 1484 WILL HOPE 1679.”

 12:22 ¶ Then 5119 a demon-possessed 1139 man [who was] blind 5185 and mute 2974 was brought 4374 to Jesus, and He healed 2323 him, so 5620 that the mute 2974 man 2974 spoke 2980 and saw 991.

 12:23 All 3956 the crowds 3793 were amazed 1839, and were saying 3004, “This 3778 man cannot 3385 be the Son 5207 of David 1160b, can he?”

 12:24 But when the Pharisees 5330 heard 191 [this], they said 3004, “This 3778 man 3778 casts 1544b out demons 1140 only 3756 1487 3361 by Beelzebul 954 the ruler 758 of the demons 1140.”

 12:25 ¶ And knowing 3609a their thoughts 1761 Jesus said 3004 to them, “Any 3956 kingdom 932 divided 3307 against 2596 itself 1438 is laid 2049 waste 2049; and any 3956 city 4172 or 2228 house 3614 divided 3307 against 2596 itself 1438 will not stand 2476.

 12:26 “If 1487 Satan 4567 casts 1544b out Satan 4567, he is divided 3307 against 1909 himself 1438; how 4459 then 3767 will his kingdom 932 stand 2476?

 12:27 “If 1487 I by Beelzebul 954 cast 1544b out demons 1140, by whom 5101 do your sons 5207 cast 1544b [them] out? For this 1223 3778 reason 1223 3778 they will be your judges 2923.

 12:28 “But if 1487 I cast 1544b out demons 1140 by the Spirit 4151 of God 2316, then 686 the kingdom 932 of God 2316 has come 5348 upon you.

 12:29 “Or 2228 how 4459 can 1410 anyone 5100 enter 1525 the strong 2478 man’s 2478 house 3614 and carry 726 off 726 his property 4632, unless 1437 3361 he first 4413 binds 1210 the strong 2478 [man]? And then 5119 he will plunder 1283 his house 3614.

 12:30 “He who is not with Me is against 2596 Me; and he who does not gather 4863 with Me scatters 4650.

 12:31 ¶ “Therefore 1223 3778 I say 3004 to you, any 3956 sin 266 and blasphemy 988 shall be forgiven 863 people 444, but blasphemy 988 against the Spirit 4151 shall not be forgiven 863.

 12:32 “Whoever 3739 1437 speaks 3004 a word 3056 against 2596 the Son 5207 of Man 444, it shall be forgiven 863 him; but whoever 3739 302 speaks 3004 against 2596 the Holy 40 Spirit 4151, it shall not be forgiven 863 him, either 3777 in this 3778 age 165 or 3777 in the [age] to come 3195.

 12:33 ¶ “Either 2228 make 4160 the tree 1186 good 2570 and its fruit 2590 good 2570, or 2228 make 4160 the tree 1186 bad 4550 and its fruit 2590 bad 4550; for the tree 1186 is known 1097 by its fruit 2590.

 12:34 “You brood 1081 of vipers 2191, how 4459 can 1410 you, being 1510 evil 4190, speak 2980 what is good 18? For the mouth 4750 speaks 2980 out of that which 4051 fills 4051 the heart 2588.

 12:35 “The good 18 man 444 brings 1544b out of [his] good 18 treasure 2344 what is good 18; and the evil 4190 man 444 brings 1544b out of [his] evil 4190 treasure 2344 what is evil 4190.

 12:36 “But I tell 3004 you that every 3956 careless 692 word 4487 that people 444 speak 2980, they shall give 591 an accounting 3056 for it in the day 2250 of judgment 2920.

 12:37 “For by your words 3056 you will be justified 1344, and by your words 3056 you will be condemned 2613a.”

 12:38 ¶ Then 5119 some 5100 of the scribes 1122 and Pharisees 5330 said 3004 to Him, “Teacher 1320, we want 2309 to see 3708 a sign 4592 from You.”

 12:39 But He answered 611 and said 3004 to them, “An evil 4190 and adulterous 3428 generation 1074 craves 1934 for a sign 4592; and [yet] no 3756 sign 4592 will be given 1325 to it but the sign 4592 of Jonah 2495 the prophet 4396;

 12:40 for just 5618 as JONAH 2495 WAS THREE 5140 DAYS 2250 AND THREE 5140 NIGHTS 3571 IN THE BELLY 2836 OF THE SEA 2785 MONSTER 2785, so 3779 will the Son 5207 of Man 444 be three 5140 days 2250 and three 5140 nights 3571 in the heart 2588 of the earth 1093.

 12:41 “The men 435 of Nineveh 3536 will stand 450 up with this 3778 generation 1074 at the judgment 2920, and will condemn 2632 it because 3754 they repented 3340 at the preaching 2782 of Jonah 2495; and behold 2400, something greater 4183 than Jonah 2495 is here 5602.

 12:42 “[The] Queen 938 of [the] South 3558 will rise 1453 up with this 3778 generation 1074 at the judgment 2920 and will condemn 2632 it, because 3754 she came 2064 from the ends 4009 of the earth 1093 to hear 191 the wisdom 4678 of Solomon 4672; and behold 2400, something greater 4183 than Solomon 4672 is here 5602.

 12:43 ¶ “Now 1161 when 3752 the unclean 169 spirit 4151 goes 1831 out of a man 444, it passes 1330 through 1223 waterless 504 places 5117 seeking 2212 rest 372, and does not find 2147 [it].

 12:44 “Then 5119 it says 3004, ‘I will return 1994 to my house 3624 from which 3606 I came 1831’; and when it comes 2064, it finds 2147 [it] unoccupied 4980, swept 4563, and put 2885 in order 2885.

 12:45 “Then 5119 it goes 4198 and takes 3880 along 3880 with it seven 2033 other 2087 spirits 4151 more 4190 wicked 4190 than itself 1438, and they go 1525 in and live 2730 there 1563; and the last 2078 state of that man 444 becomes 1096 worse 5501 than the first 4413. That is the way 3779 it will also 2532 be with this 3778 evil 4190 generation 1074.”

 12:46 ¶ While He was still 2089 speaking 2980 to the crowds 3793, behold 2400, His mother 3384 and brothers 80 were standing 2476 outside 1854, seeking 2212 to speak 2980 to Him.

 12:47 Someone 5100 said 3004 to Him, “Behold 2400, Your mother 3384 and Your brothers 80 are standing 2476 outside 1854 seeking 2212 to speak 2980 to You.”

 12:48 But Jesus answered 611 the one who was telling 3004 Him and said 3004, “Who 5101 is My mother 3384 and who 5101 are My brothers 80?”

 12:49 And stretching 1614 out His hand 5495 toward 1909 His disciples 3101, He said 3004, “Behold 2400 My mother 3384 and My brothers 80!

 12:50 “For whoever 3748 302 does 4160 the will 2307 of My Father 3962 who is in heaven 3772, he is My brother 80 and sister 79 and mother 3384.”
