Matthew 18

1 Christ warneth his disciples to be humble and harmless: 7 to avoid offences, and not to despise the little ones: 15 teacheth how we are to deal with our brethren, when they offend us: 21 and how oft to forgive them: 23 which he setteth forth by a parable of the king, that took account of his servants, 32 and punished him, who shewed no mercy to his fellow.

 18:1 At that time 5610 the disciples 3101 came 4334 to Jesus 2424 and said 3004, “Who 5101 then 686 is greatest 3173 in the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772?”

 18:2 And He called 4341 a child 3813 to Himself and set 2476 him before 1722 3319 them,

 18:3 and said 3004, “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, unless 1437 3361 you are converted 4762 and become 1096 like 5613 children 3813, you will not enter 1525 the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772.

 18:4 “Whoever 3748 then 3767 humbles 5013 himself 1438 as this 3778 child 3813, he is the greatest 3173 in the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772.

 18:5 “And whoever 3739 1437 receives 1209 one 1520 such 5108 child 3813 in My name 3686 receives 1209 Me;

 18:6 but whoever 3739 302 causes 4624 one 1520 of these 3778 little 3398 ones 3398 who believe 4100 in Me to stumble 4624, it would be better 4851a for him to have a heavy 3684 millstone 3458 hung 2910 around 4012 his neck 5137, and to be drowned 2670 in the depth 3989 of the sea 2281.

 18:7 ¶ “Woe 3759 to the world 2889 because 575 of [its] stumbling 4625 blocks 4625! For it is inevitable 318 that stumbling 4625 blocks 4625 come 2064; but woe 3759 to that man 444 through 1223 whom 3739 the stumbling 4625 block 4625 comes 2064!

 18:8 ¶ “If 1487 your hand 5495 or 2228 your foot 4228 causes 4624 you to stumble 4624, cut 1581 it off 1581 and throw 906 it from you; it is better 2570 for you to enter 1525 life 2222 crippled 2948 or 2228 lame 5560, than 2228 to have 2192 two 1417 hands 5495 or 2228 two 1417 feet 4228 and be cast 906 into the eternal 166 fire 4442.

 18:9 “If 1487 your eye 3788 causes 4624 you to stumble 4624, pluck 1807 it out and throw 906 it from you. It is better 2570 for you to enter 1525 life 2222 with one 3442 eye 3442, than 2228 to have 2192 two 1417 eyes 3788 and be cast 906 into the fiery 4442 hell 1067.

 18:10 ¶ “See 3708 that you do not despise 2706 one 1520 of these 3778 little 3398 ones 3398, for I say 3004 to you that their angels 32a in heaven 3772 continually 1223 3956 see 3708 the face 4383 of My Father 3962 who is in heaven 3772.

 18:12 ¶ “What 5101 do you think 1380? If 1437 any 5100 man 444 has 1096 a hundred 1540 sheep 4263b, and one 1520 of them has gone 4105 astray 4105, does he not leave 863 the ninety-nine 1752b 1767 on the mountains 3735 and go 4198 and search 2212 for the one that is straying 4105?

 18:13 “If 1437 it turns 1096 out that he finds 2147 it, truly 281 I say 3004 to you, he rejoices 5463 over 1909 it more 3123 than 2228 over 1909 the ninety-nine 1752b 1767 which have not gone 4105 astray 4105.

 18:14 “So 3379 it is not [the] will 2307 of your Father 3962 who is in heaven 3772 that one 1520 of these 3778 little 3398 ones 3398 perish 622.

 18:15 ¶ “If 1437 your brother 80 sins 264, go 5217 and show 1651 him his fault 1651 in private 3441; if 1437 he listens 191 to you, you have won 2770 your brother 80.

 18:16 “But if 1437 he does not listen 191 [to you], take 3880 one 1520 or 2228 two 1417 more 2089 with you, so 2443 that BY THE MOUTH 4750 OF TWO 1417 OR 2228 THREE 5140 WITNESSES 3144 EVERY 3956 FACT 4487 MAY BE CONFIRMED 2476.

 18:17 “If 1437 he refuses 3878 to listen 3878 to them, tell 3004 it to the church 1577; and if 1437 he refuses 3878 to listen 3878 even 2532 to the church 1577, let him be to you as a Gentile 1482 and a tax 5057 collector 5057.

 18:18 “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, whatever 3745 1437 you bind 1210 on earth 1093 shall have been bound 1210 in heaven 3772; and whatever 3745 1437 you loose 3089 on earth 1093 shall have been loosed 3089 in heaven 3772.

 18:19 ¶ “Again 3825 I say 3004 to you, that if 1437 two 1417 of you agree 4856 on earth 1093 about 4012 anything 3956 4229 that they may ask 154, it shall be done 1096 for them by My Father 3962 who is in heaven 3772.

 18:20 “For where 3757 two 1417 or 2228 three 5140 have gathered 4863 together 4863 in My name 3686, I am 1510 there 1563 in their midst 3319.”

 18:21 ¶ Then 5119 Peter 4074 came 4334 and said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, how 4212 often 4212 shall my brother 80 sin 264 against 1519 me and I forgive 863 him? Up to seven 2034 times 2034?”

 18:22 Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to him, “I do not say 3004 to you, up to seven 2034 times 2034, but up to seventy 1441 times 1441 seven 2033.

 18:23 ¶ “For this 3778 reason 1223 the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 may be compared 3666 to a king 935 who 3739 wished 2309 to settle 4868 accounts 3056 with his slaves 1401.

 18:24 “When he had begun 757 to settle 4868 [them], one 1520 who owed 3781 him ten 3463 thousand 3463 talents 5007 was brought 4317 to him.

 18:25 “But since he did not have 2192 [the means] to repay 591, his lord 2962 commanded 2753 him to be sold 4097, along 2532 with his wife 1135 and children 5043 and all 3956 that he had 2192, and repayment 591 to be made 591.

 18:26 “So 3767 the slave 1401 fell 4098 [to the ground] and prostrated 4352 himself 4352 before 4352 him, saying 3004, ‘Have 3114 patience 3114 with me and I will repay 591 you everything 3956.’

 18:27 “And the lord 2962 of that slave 1401 felt 4697 compassion 4697 and released 630 him and forgave 863 him the debt 1156.

 18:28 “But that slave 1401 went 1831 out and found 2147 one 1520 of his fellow 4889 slaves 4889 who 3739 owed 3784 him a hundred 1540 denarii 1220; and he seized 2902 him and [began] to choke 4155 [him], saying 3004, ‘Pay 591 back 591 what 5101 you owe 3784.’

 18:29 “So 3767 his fellow 4889 slave 4889 fell 4098 [to the ground] and [began] to plead 3870 with him, saying 3004, ‘Have 3114 patience 3114 with me and I will repay 591 you.’

 18:30 “But he was unwilling 3756 2309 and went 565 and threw 906 him in prison 5438 until 2193 he should pay 591 back 591 what 3588 was owed 3784.

 18:31 “So 3767 when his fellow 4889 slaves 4889 saw 3708 what 3588 had happened 1096, they were deeply 4970 grieved 3076 and came 2064 and reported 1285 to their lord 2962 all 3956 that had happened 1096.

 18:32 “Then 5119 summoning 4341 him, his lord 2962 *said 3004 to him, ‘You wicked 4190 slave 1401, I forgave 863 you all 3956 that debt 3782 because 1893 you pleaded 3870 with me.

 18:33 ‘Should 1163 you not also 2532 have had 1653 mercy 1653 on your fellow 4889 slave 4889, in the same 5613 way 5613 that I had 1653 mercy 1653 on you?’

 18:34 “And his lord 2962, moved 3710 with anger 3710, handed 3860 him over 3860 to the torturers 930 until 2193 he should repay 591 all 3956 that was owed 3784 him.

 18:35 “My heavenly 3770 Father 3962 will also 2532 do 4160 the same 3779 to you, if 1437 each 1538 of you does not forgive 863 his brother 80 from your heart 2588.”
