Matthew 2

1 The wise men out of the east are directed to Christ by a star. 11 They worship him, and offer their presents. 14 Joseph fleeth into Egypt, with Jesus and his mother. 16 Herod slayeth the children: 20 himself dieth. 23 Christ is brought back again into Galilee to Nazareth.

 2:1 Now 1161 after Jesus 2424 was born 1080 in Bethlehem 965 of Judea 2453 in the days 2250 of Herod 2264 the king 935, magi 3097 from the east 395 arrived 3854 in Jerusalem 2414, saying 3004,

 2:2 “Where 4226 is He who has been born 5088 King 935 of the Jews 2453? For we saw 3708 His star 792 in the east 395 and have come 2064 to worship 4352 Him.”

 2:3 When Herod 2264 the king 935 heard 191 [this], he was troubled 5015, and all 3956 Jerusalem 2414 with him.

 2:4 Gathering 4863 together 4863 all 3956 the chief 749 priests 749 and scribes 1122 of the people 2992, he inquired 4441 of them where 4226 the Messiah 5547 was to be born 1080.

 2:5 They said 3004 to him, “In Bethlehem 965 of Judea 2453; for this 3779 is what 3704 has been written 1125 by the prophet 4396:

 2:6 ‘AND YOU, BETHLEHEM 965, LAND 1093 OF JUDAH 2455, ARE BY NO 3760 MEANS 3760 LEAST 1646 AMONG 1722 THE LEADERS 2233 OF JUDAH 2455; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME 1831 FORTH 1831 A RULER 2233 WHO 3748 WILL SHEPHERD 4165 MY PEOPLE 2992 ISRAEL 2474.’”

 2:7 ¶ Then 5119 Herod 2264 secretly 2977 called 2564 the magi 3097 and determined 198b from them the exact 5550 time 5550 the star 792 appeared 5316.

 2:8 And he sent 3992 them to Bethlehem 965 and said 3004, “Go 4198 and search 1833 carefully 199 for the Child 3813; and when 1875 you have found 2147 [Him], report 518 to me, so 3704 that I too 2532 may come 2064 and worship 4352 Him.”

 2:9 After 1161 hearing 191 the king 935, they went 4198 their way 4198; and the star 792, which 3739 they had seen 3708 in the east 395, went 4254 on before 4254 them until 2193 it came 2064 and stood 2476 over 1883 [the place] where 3757 the Child 3813 was.

 2:10 When they saw 3708 the star 792, they rejoiced 5463 exceedingly 4970 with great 3173 joy 5479.

 2:11 After 2532 coming 2064 into the house 3614 they saw 3708 the Child 3813 with Mary 3137 His mother 3384; and they fell 4098 to the ground and worshiped 4352 Him. Then 2532, opening 455 their treasures 2344, they presented 4374 to Him gifts 1435 of gold 5557, frankincense 3030, and myrrh 4666.

 2:12 And having been warned 5537 [by God] in a dream 3677 not to return 344 to Herod 2264, the magi left 402 for their own country 5561 by another 243 way 3598.

 2:13 ¶ Now 1161 when they had gone 402, behold 2400, an angel 32a of the Lord 2962 *appeared 5316 to Joseph 2501 in a dream 3677 and said 3004, “Get 1453 up! Take 3880 the Child 3813 and His mother 3384 and flee 5343 to Egypt 125, and remain 1510 there 1563 until 2193 I tell 3004 you; for Herod 2264 is going 3195 to search 2212 for the Child 3813 to destroy 622 Him.”

 2:14 ¶ So 1161 Joseph got 1453 up and took 3880 the Child 3813 and His mother 3384 while it was still night 3571, and left 402 for Egypt 125.

 2:15 He remained 1510 there 1563 until 2193 the death 5054 of Herod 2264. [This was] to fulfill 4137 what 3588 had been spoken 3004 by the Lord 2962 through 1223 the prophet 4396: “OUT OF EGYPT 125 I CALLED 2564 MY SON 5207.”

 2:16 ¶ Then 5119 when Herod 2264 saw 3708 that he had been tricked 1702 by the magi 3097, he became very 3029 enraged 2373, and sent 649 and slew 337 all 3956 the male 3816 children 3816 who were in Bethlehem 965 and all 3956 its vicinity 3725, from two 1332 years 1332 old 1332 and under 2736, according 2596 to the time 5550 which 3739 he had determined 198b from the magi 3097.

 2:17 Then 5119 what 3588 had been spoken 3004 through 1223 Jeremiah 2408 the prophet 4396 was fulfilled 4137:

 2:18 “A VOICE 5456 WAS HEARD 191 IN RAMAH 4471, WEEPING 2805 AND GREAT 4183 MOURNING 3602, RACHEL 4478 WEEPING 2805 FOR HER CHILDREN 5043; AND SHE REFUSED 3756 2309 TO BE COMFORTED 3870, BECAUSE 3754 THEY WERE NO 3756 MORE.”

 2:19 ¶ But when Herod 2264 died 5053, behold 2400, an angel 32a of the Lord 2962 *appeared 5316 in a dream 3677 to Joseph 2501 in Egypt 125, and said 3004,

 2:20 “Get 1453 up, take 3880 the Child 3813 and His mother 3384, and go 4198 into the land 1093 of Israel 2474; for those 3588 who sought 2212 the Child’s 3813 life 5590 are dead 2348.”

 2:21 So 1161 Joseph got 1453 up, took 3880 the Child 3813 and His mother 3384, and came 1525 into the land 1093 of Israel 2474.

 2:22 But when he heard 191 that Archelaus 745 was reigning 936 over Judea 2453 in place 473 of his father 3962 Herod 2264, he was afraid 5399 to go 565 there 1563. Then 1161 after being warned 5537 [by God] in a dream 3677, he left 402 for the regions 3313 of Galilee 1056,

 2:23 and came 2064 and lived 2730 in a city 4172 called 3004 Nazareth 3478. [This was] to fulfill 4137 what 3588 was spoken 3004 through 1223 the prophets 4396: “He shall be called 2564 a Nazarene 3480.”
