Matthew 13

3 The parable of the sower and the seed: 18 the exposition of it. 24 The parable of the tares, 31 of the mustard seed, 33 of the leaven, 44 of the hidden treasure, 45 of the pearl, 47 of the drawnet cast into the sea, 53 and how Christ is contemned of his own countrymen.

 13:1 That day 2250 Jesus 2424 went 1831 out of the house 3614 and was sitting 2521 by the sea 2281.

 13:2 And large 4183 crowds 3793 gathered 4863 to Him, so 5620 He got 1684 into a boat 4143 and sat 2521 down 2521, and the whole 3956 crowd 3793 was standing 2476 on the beach 123.

 13:3 ¶ And He spoke 2980 many 4183 things 4183 to them in parables 3850b, saying 3004, “Behold 2400, the sower 4687 went 1831 out to sow 4687;

 13:4 and as he sowed 4687, some 3739 3303a [seeds] fell 4098 beside 3844 the road 3598, and the birds 4071 came 2064 and ate 2719 them up.

 13:5 “Others 243 fell 4098 on the rocky 4075 places, where 3699 they did not have 2192 much 4183 soil 1093; and immediately 2112 they sprang 1816 up, because 1223 they had 2192 no 3361 depth 899 of soil 1093.

 13:6 “But when the sun 2246 had risen 393, they were scorched 2739; and because 1223 they had 2192 no 3361 root 4491, they withered 3583 away 3583.

 13:7 “Others 243 fell 4098 among 1909 the thorns 173, and the thorns 173 came 305 up and choked 638 them out.

 13:8 “And others 243 fell 4098 on the good 2570 soil 1093 and *yielded 1325 a crop 2590, some 3739 3303a a hundredfold 1540, some 3739 sixty 1835, and some 3739 thirty 5144b.

 13:9 “He who has 2192 ears 3775, let him hear 191.”

 13:10 ¶ And the disciples 3101 came 4334 and said 3004 to Him, “Why 1223 5101 do You speak 2980 to them in parables 3850b?”

 13:11 Jesus answered 611 them, “To you it has been granted 1325 to know 1097 the mysteries 3466 of the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772, but to them it has not been granted 1325.

 13:12 “For whoever 3748 has 2192, to him [more] shall be given 1325, and he will have 4052 an abundance 4052; but whoever 3748 does not have 2192, even 2532 what 3739 he has 2192 shall be taken 142 away 142 from him.

 13:13 “Therefore 1223 3778 I speak 2980 to them in parables 3850b; because 3754 while seeing 991 they do not see 991, and while hearing 191 they do not hear 191, nor 3761 do they understand 4920.

 13:14 “In their case the prophecy 4394 of Isaiah 2268 is being fulfilled 378, which says 3004, ‘YOU WILL KEEP 189 ON HEARING 191, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND 4920; YOU WILL KEEP 991 ON SEEING 991, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE 3708;

 13:15 FOR THE HEART 2588 OF THIS 3778 PEOPLE 2992 HAS BECOME 3975 DULL 3975, WITH THEIR EARS 3775 THEY SCARCELY 917 HEAR 191, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED 2576 THEIR EYES 3788, OTHERWISE 3379 THEY WOULD SEE 3708 WITH THEIR EYES 3788, HEAR 191 WITH THEIR EARS 3775, AND UNDERSTAND 4920 WITH THEIR HEART 2588 AND RETURN 1994, AND I WOULD HEAL 2390 THEM.’

 13:16 “But blessed 3107 are your eyes 3788, because 3754 they see 991; and your ears 3775, because 3754 they hear 191.

 13:17 “For truly 281 I say 3004 to you that many 4183 prophets 4396 and righteous 1342 men 1342 desired 1937 to see 3708 what 3739 you see 991, and did not see 3708 [it], and to hear 191 what 3739 you hear 191, and did not hear 191 [it].

 13:18 ¶ “Hear 191 then 3767 the parable 3850b of the sower 4687.

 13:19 “When anyone 3956 hears 191 the word 3056 of the kingdom 932 and does not understand 4920 it, the evil 4190 [one] comes 2064 and snatches 726 away 726 what 3588 has been sown 4687 in his heart 2588. This 3778 is the one on whom seed was sown 4687 beside 3844 the road 3598.

 13:20 “The one on whom seed was sown 4687 on the rocky 4075 places, this 3778 is the man who hears 191 the word 3056 and immediately 2117 receives 2983 it with joy 5479;

 13:21 yet 1161 he has 2192 no 3756 [firm] root 4491 in himself 1438, but is [only] temporary 4340, and when affliction 2347 or 2228 persecution 1375 arises 1096 because 1223 of the word 3056, immediately 2117 he falls 4624 away 4624.

 13:22 “And the one on whom seed was sown 4687 among 1519 the thorns 173, this 3778 is the man who hears 191 the word 3056, and the worry 3308 of the world 165 and the deceitfulness 539 of wealth 4149 choke 4846 the word 3056, and it becomes 1096 unfruitful 175.

 13:23 “And the one on whom seed was sown 4687 on the good 2570 soil 1093, this 3778 is the man who hears 191 the word 3056 and understands 4920 it; who 3739 indeed 1211 bears 2592 fruit 2592 and brings 4160 forth 4160, some 3739 3303a a hundredfold 1540, some 3739 sixty 1835, and some 3739 thirty 5144b.”

 13:24 ¶ Jesus presented 3908 another 243 parable 3850b to them, saying 3004, “The kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 may be compared 3666 to a man 444 who sowed 4687 good 2570 seed 4690 in his field 68.

 13:25 “But while 1722 his men 444 were sleeping 2518, his enemy 2190 came 2064 and sowed 1986b tares 2215 among 303 3319 the wheat 4621, and went 565 away 565.

 13:26 “But when 3753 the wheat 5528 sprouted 985 and bore 4160 grain 2590, then 5119 the tares 2215 became 5316 evident 5316 also 2532.

 13:27 “The slaves 1401 of the landowner 3617 came 4334 and said 3004 to him, ‘Sir 2962, did you not sow 4687 good 2570 seed 4690 in your field 68? How 4159 then 3767 does it have 2192 tares 2215?’

 13:28 “And he said 5346 to them, ‘An enemy 2190 444 has done 4160 this 3778!’ The slaves 1401 *said 3004 to him, ‘Do you want 2309 us, then 3767, to go 565 and gather 4816 them up?’

 13:29 “But he *said 5346, ‘No 3756; for while you are gathering 4816 up the tares 2215, you may uproot 1610 the wheat 4621 with them.

 13:30 ‘Allow 863 both 297 to grow 4885 together 4885 until 2193 the harvest 2326; and in the time 2540 of the harvest 2326 I will say 3004 to the reapers 2327, “First 4413 gather 4816 up the tares 2215 and bind 1210 them in bundles 1197 to burn 2618 them up; but gather 4863 the wheat 4621 into my barn 596.”’”

 13:31 ¶ He presented 3908 another 243 parable 3850b to them, saying 3004, “The kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 a mustard 4615 seed 2848, which 3739 a man 444 took 2983 and sowed 4687 in his field 68;

 13:32 and this 3739 is smaller 3398 than all 3956 [other] seeds 4690, but when 3752 it is full 837 grown 837, it is larger 3173 than the garden 3001 plants 3001 and becomes 1096 a tree 1186, so 5620 that THE BIRDS 4071 OF THE AIR 3772 come 2064 and NEST 2681 IN ITS BRANCHES 2798.”

 13:33 ¶ He spoke 2980 another 243 parable 3850b to them, “The kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 leaven 2219, which 3739 a woman 1135 took 2983 and hid 1470 in three 5140 pecks 4568 of flour 224 until 2193 it was all 3650 leavened 2220.”

 13:34 ¶ All 3956 these 3778 things 3778 Jesus 2424 spoke 2980 to the crowds 3793 in parables 3850b, and He did not speak 2980 to them without 5565 a parable 3850b.

 13:35 [This was] to fulfill 4137 what 3588 was spoken 3004 through 1223 the prophet 4396: “I WILL OPEN 455 MY MOUTH 4750 IN PARABLES 3850b; I WILL UTTER 2044 THINGS 2928 HIDDEN 2928 SINCE 575 THE FOUNDATION 2602 OF THE WORLD 2889.”

 13:36 ¶ Then 5119 He left 863 the crowds 3793 and went 2064 into the house 3614. And His disciples 3101 came 4334 to Him and said 3004, “Explain 1285 to us the parable 3850b of the tares 2215 of the field 68.”

 13:37 And He said 3004, “The one who sows 4687 the good 2570 seed 4690 is the Son 5207 of Man 444,

 13:38 and the field 68 is the world 2889; and [as for] the good 2570 seed 4690, these 3778 are the sons 5207 of the kingdom 932; and the tares 2215 are the sons 5207 of the evil 4190 [one];

 13:39 and the enemy 2190 who sowed 4687 them is the devil 1228, and the harvest 2326 is the end 4930 of the age 165; and the reapers 2327 are angels 32a.

 13:40 “So 3779 just 5618 as the tares 2215 are gathered 4816 up and burned 2618 with fire 4442, so 3779 shall it be at the end 4930 of the age 165.

 13:41 “The Son 5207 of Man 444 will send 649 forth 649 His angels 32a, and they will gather 4816 out of His kingdom 932 all 3956 stumbling 4625 blocks 4625, and those 3588 who commit 4160 lawlessness 458,

 13:42 and will throw 906 them into the furnace 2575 of fire 4442; in that place 1563 there will be weeping 2805 and gnashing 1030 of teeth 3599.

 13:43 “Then 5119 THE RIGHTEOUS 1342 WILL SHINE 1584 FORTH 1584 AS THE SUN 2246 in the kingdom 932 of their Father 3962. He who has 2192 ears 3775, let him hear 191.

 13:44 ¶ “The kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 a treasure 2344 hidden 2928 in the field 68, which 3739 a man 444 found 2147 and hid 2928 [again]; and from joy 5479 over it he goes 5217 and sells 4453 all 3745 that he has 2192 and buys 59 that field 68.

 13:45 ¶ “Again 3825, the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 a merchant 1713 seeking 2212 fine 2570 pearls 3135,

 13:46 and upon finding 2147 one 1520 pearl 3135 of great 4186 value 4186, he went 565 and sold 4097 all 3956 that he had 2192 and bought 59 it.

 13:47 ¶ “Again 3825, the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 a dragnet 4522 cast 906 into the sea 2281, and gathering 4863 [fish] of every 3956 kind 1085;

 13:48 and when 3753 it was filled 4137, they drew 307 it up on the beach 123; and they sat 2523 down 2523 and gathered 4816 the good 2570 [fish] into containers 32b, but the bad 4550 they threw 906 away 1854.

 13:49 “So 3779 it will be at the end 4930 of the age 165; the angels 32a will come 1831 forth 1831 and take 873 out the wicked 4190 from among 3319 the righteous 1342,

 13:50 and will throw 906 them into the furnace 2575 of fire 4442; in that place 1563 there 1563 will be weeping 2805 and gnashing 1030 of teeth 3599.

 13:51 ¶ “Have you understood 4920 all 3956 these 3778 things 3778?” They *said 3004 to Him, “Yes 3483a.”

 13:52 And Jesus said 3004 to them, “Therefore 1223 3778 every 3956 scribe 1122 who has become 3100 a disciple 3100 of the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is like 3664 a head 3617 of a household 3617, who 3748 brings 1544b out of his treasure 2344 things 2537 new 2537 and old 3820.”

 13:53 ¶ When 3753 Jesus 2424 had finished 5055 these 3778 parables 3850b, He departed 3332 from there 1564.

 13:54 He came 2064 to His hometown 3968 and [began] teaching 1321 them in their synagogue 4864, so 5620 that they were astonished 1605, and said 3004, “Where 4159 [did] this 3778 man 3778 [get] this 3778 wisdom 4678 and [these] miraculous 1411 powers 1411?

 13:55 “Is not this 3778 the carpenter’s 5045 son 5207? Is not His mother 3384 called 3004 Mary 3137, and His brothers 80, James 2385 and Joseph 2501 and Simon 4613 and Judas 2455?

 13:56 “And His sisters 79, are they not all 3956 with us? Where 4159 then 3767 [did] this 3778 man 3778 [get] all 3956 these 3778 things 3778?”

 13:57 And they took 4624 offense 4624 at Him. But Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “A prophet 4396 is not without 820 honor 820 except 1508 in his hometown 3968 and in his [own] household 3614.”

 13:58 And He did not do 4160 many 4183 miracles 1411 there 1563 because 1223 of their unbelief 570.
