Matthew 17
1 The transfiguration of Christ. 14 He healeth the lunatick, 22 foretelleth his own passion, 24 and payeth tribute.
17:1
Six 1803 days 2250 later 3326 Jesus 2424 *took 3880 with Him Peter 4074 and James 2385 and John 2491 his brother 80, and *led 399 them up on a high 5308 mountain 3735 by themselves 2398.
17:2
And He was transfigured 3339 before 1715 them; and His face 4383 shone 2989 like 5613 the sun 2246, and His garments 2440 became 1096 as white 3022 as light 5457.
17:3
And behold 2400, Moses 3475 and Elijah 2243 appeared 3708 to them, talking 4814 with Him.
17:4
Peter 4074 said 3004 to Jesus 2424, “Lord 2962, it is good 2570 for us to be here 5602; if 1487 You wish 2309, I will make 4160 three 5140 tabernacles 4633 here 5602, one 1520 for You, and one 1520 for Moses 3475, and one 1520 for Elijah 2243.”
17:5
While he was still 2089 speaking 2980, a bright 5460 cloud 3507 overshadowed 1982 them, and behold 2400, a voice 5456 out of the cloud 3507 said 3004, “This 3778 is My beloved 27 Son 5207, with whom 3739 I am 2106 well-pleased 2106; listen 191 to Him!”
17:6
When the disciples 3101 heard 191 [this], they fell 4098 face 4383 down to the ground and were terrified 5399.
17:7
And Jesus 2424 came 4334 to [them] and touched 681 them and said 3004, “Get 1452 up, and do not be afraid 5399.”
17:8
And lifting 1869 up their eyes 3788, they saw 3708 no 3762 one 3762 except 1508 Jesus 2424 Himself 846 alone 3441.
17:9
¶ As they were coming 2597 down 2597 from the mountain 3735, Jesus 2424 commanded 1781 them, saying 3004, “Tell 3004 the vision 3705 to no 3367 one 3367 until 2193 the Son 5207 of Man 444 has risen 1453 from the dead 3498.”
17:10
And His disciples 3101 asked 1905 Him, “Why 5101 then 3767 do the scribes 1122 say 3004 that Elijah 2243 must 1163 come 2064 first 4413?”
17:11
And He answered 611 and said 3004, “Elijah 2243 is coming 2064 and will restore 600 all 3956 things 3956;
17:12
but I say 3004 to you that Elijah 2243 already 2235 came 2064, and they did not recognize 1921 him, but did 4160 to him whatever 3745 they wished 2309. So 3779 also 2532 the Son 5207 of Man 444 is going 3195 to suffer 3958 at their hands 5259.”

Then 5119 the disciples 3101 understood 4920 that He had spoken 3004 to them about 4012 John 2491 the Baptist 910.
17:14
¶ When they came 2064 to the crowd 3793, a man 444 came 4334 up to Jesus, falling 1120 on his knees 1120 before 1120 Him and saying 3004,
17:15
“Lord 2962, have 1653 mercy 1653 on my son 5207, for he is a lunatic 4583 and is very 2560 ill 2192 2560; for he often 4178 falls 4098 into the fire 4442 and often 4178 into the water 5204.
17:16
“I brought 4374 him to Your disciples 3101, and they could 1410 not cure 2323 him.”
17:17
And Jesus 2424 answered 611 and said 3004, “You unbelieving 571 and perverted 1294 generation 1074, how 2193 long 2193 4219 shall I be with you? How 2193 long 2193 4219 shall I put 430 up with you? Bring 5342 him here 5602 to Me.”
17:18
And Jesus 2424 rebuked 2008 him, and the demon 1140 came 1831 out of him, and the boy 3816 was cured 2323 at once 1565 5610.
17:19
¶ Then 5119 the disciples 3101 came 4334 to Jesus 2424 privately 2596 2398 and said 3004, “Why 1223 5101 could 1410 we not drive 1544b it out?”
17:20
And He *said 3004 to them, “Because 1223 of the littleness 3640a of your faith 3640a; for truly 281 I say 3004 to you, if 1437 you have 2192 faith 4102 the size 5613 of a mustard 4615 seed 2848, you will say 3004 to this 3778 mountain 3735, ‘Move 3327 from here 1759b to there 1563,’ and it will move 3327; and nothing 3762 will be impossible 101 to you.
17:21
[[“But this 3778 kind 1085 does not go 1607 out except 1508 by prayer 4335 and fasting 3521.”]]
17:22
¶ And while they were gathering 4962 together 4962 in Galilee 1056, Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “The Son 5207 of Man 444 is going 3195 to be delivered 3860 into the hands 5495 of men 444;
17:23
and they will kill 615 Him, and He will be raised 1453 on the third 5154 day 2250.” And they were deeply 4970 grieved 3076.
17:24
¶ When they came 4334 to Capernaum 2746b, those 3588 who collected 2983 the two-drachma 1323 [tax] came 4334 to Peter 4074 and said 3004, “Does your teacher 1320 not pay 5055 the two-drachma 1323 [tax]?”
17:25
He *said 3004, “Yes 3483a.” And when he came 2064 into the house 3614, Jesus 2424 spoke 4399 to him first 4399, saying 3004, “What 5101 do you think 1380, Simon 4613? From whom 5101 do the kings 935 of the earth 1093 collect 2983 customs 5056 or 2228 poll-tax 2778b, from their sons 5207 or 2228 from strangers 245?”
17:26
When Peter said 5346, “From strangers 245,” Jesus 2424 said 5346 to him, “Then 686 the sons 5207 are exempt 1658.
17:27
“However 1161, so 2443 3361 that we do not offend 4624 them, go 4198 to the sea 2281 and throw 906 in a hook 44, and take 142 the first 4413 fish 2486 that comes 305 up; and when you open 455 its mouth 4750, you will find 2147 a shekel 4715. Take 2983 that and give 1325 it to them for you and Me.”
