Matthew 4

1 Christ fasteth, and is tempted. 11 The angels minister unto him. 13 He dwelleth in Capernaum, 17 beginneth to preach, 18 calleth Peter, and Andrew, 21 James, and John, 23 and healeth all the diseased.

 4:1 Then 5119 Jesus 2424 was led 321 up by the Spirit 4151 into the wilderness 2048 to be tempted 3985 by the devil 1228.

 4:2 And after He had fasted 3522 forty 5065b days 2250 and forty 5065b nights 3571, He then 5306 became hungry 3983.

 4:3 And the tempter 3985 came 4334 and said 3004 to Him, “If 1487 You are the Son 5207 of God 2316, command 3004 that these 3778 stones 3037 become 1096 bread 740.”

 4:4 But He answered 611 and said 3004, “It is written 1125, ‘MAN 444 SHALL NOT LIVE 2198 ON BREAD 740 ALONE 3441, BUT ON EVERY 3956 WORD 4487 THAT PROCEEDS 1607 OUT OF THE MOUTH 4750 OF GOD 2316.’”

 4:5 ¶ Then 5119 the devil 1228 *took 3880 Him into the holy 40 city 4172 and had Him stand 2476 on the pinnacle 4419 of the temple 2413,

 4:6 and *said 3004 to Him, “If 1487 You are the Son 5207 of God 2316, throw 906 Yourself 4572 down 2736; for it is written 1125, ‘HE WILL COMMAND 1781 HIS ANGELS 32a CONCERNING 4012 YOU’; and ‘ON [their] HANDS 5495 THEY WILL BEAR 142 YOU UP, SO 3379 THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE 4350 YOUR FOOT 4228 AGAINST 4314 A STONE 3037.’”

 4:7 Jesus 2424 said 5346 to him, “On the other 3825 hand 3825, it is written 1125, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT 1598 THE LORD 2962 YOUR GOD 2316 TO THE TEST 1598.’”

 4:8 ¶ Again 3825, the devil 1228 *took 3880 Him to a very 3029 high 5308 mountain 3735 and *showed 1166 Him all 3956 the kingdoms 932 of the world 2889 and their glory 1391;

 4:9 and he said 3004 to Him, “All 3956 these 3778 things 3778 I will give 1325 You, if 1437 You fall 4098 down 4098 and worship 4352 me.”

 4:10 Then 5119 Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to him, “Go 5217, Satan 4567! For it is written 1125, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP 4352 THE LORD 2962 YOUR GOD 2316, AND SERVE 3000 HIM ONLY 3441.’”

 4:11 Then 5119 the devil 1228 *left 863 Him; and behold 2400, angels 32a came 4334 and [began] to minister 1247 to Him.

 4:12 ¶ Now 1161 when Jesus heard 191 that John 2491 had been taken 3860 into custody 3860, He withdrew 402 into Galilee 1056;

 4:13 and leaving 2641 Nazareth 3478, He came 2064 and settled 2730 in Capernaum 2746b, which is by the sea 3864, in the region 3725 of Zebulun 2194 and Naphtali 3508.

 4:14 [This was] to fulfill 4137 what 3588 was spoken 3004 through 1223 Isaiah 2268 the prophet 4396:

 4:15 “THE LAND 1093 OF ZEBULUN 2194 AND THE LAND 1093 OF NAPHTALI 3508, BY THE WAY 3598 OF THE SEA 2281, BEYOND 4008 THE JORDAN 2446, GALILEE 1056 OF THE GENTILES 1484—

 4:16 “THE PEOPLE 2992 WHO WERE SITTING 2521 IN DARKNESS 4653 SAW 3708 A GREAT 3173 LIGHT 5457, AND THOSE 3588 WHO WERE SITTING 2521 IN THE LAND 5561 AND SHADOW 4639 OF DEATH 2288, UPON THEM A LIGHT 5457 DAWNED 393.”

 4:17 ¶ From that time 5119 Jesus 2424 began 757 to preach 2784 and say 3004, “Repent 3340, for the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is at hand 1448.”

 4:18 ¶ Now as Jesus was walking 4043 by the Sea 2281 of Galilee 1056, He saw 3708 two 1417 brothers 80, Simon 4613 who was called 3004 Peter 4074, and Andrew 406 his brother 80, casting 906 a net 293b into the sea 2281; for they were fishermen 231.

 4:19 And He *said 3004 to them, “Follow 1205 3694 Me, and I will make 4160 you fishers 231 of men 444.”

 4:20 Immediately 2112 they left 863 their nets 1350 and followed 190 Him.

 4:21 Going 4260 on from there 1564 He saw 3708 two 1417 other 243 brothers 80, James 2385 the [son] of Zebedee 2199, and John 2491 his brother 80, in the boat 4143 with Zebedee 2199 their father 3962, mending 2675 their nets 1350; and He called 2564 them.

 4:22 Immediately 2112 they left 863 the boat 4143 and their father 3962, and followed 190 Him.

 4:23 ¶ Jesus was going 4013 throughout 4013 all 3650 Galilee 1056, teaching 1321 in their synagogues 4864 and proclaiming 2784 the gospel 2098 of the kingdom 932, and healing 2323 every 3956 kind 3956 of disease 3554 and every 3956 kind 3956 of sickness 3119 among 1722 the people 2992.

 4:24 ¶ The news 189 about Him spread 565 throughout 1519 all 3650 Syria 4947; and they brought 4374 to Him all 3956 who were ill 2192 2560, those suffering 4912 with various 4164 diseases 3554 and pains 931, demoniacs 1139, epileptics 4583, paralytics 3885; and He healed 2323 them.

 4:25 Large 4183 crowds 3793 followed 190 Him from Galilee 1056 and [the] Decapolis 1179 and Jerusalem 2414 and Judea 2453 and [from] beyond 4008 the Jordan 2446.
