 20:1 Kiy-tëtzë laMil'chämäh al-oy'veykhä w'räiytä šûš wärekhev am rav miM'khä lo tiyrä mëhem Kiy-y'hwäh éloheykhä iMäkh' haMaal'khä mëeretz mitz'räyim

 20:1 ¶ When x3588 thou goest out 3318 z8799 to battle 4421 against x5921 thine enemies, 341 z8802 and seest 7200 z8804 horses, 5483 and chariots, 7393 [and] a people 5971 more 7227 than x4480 thou, be not afraid 3372 z8799 x3808 of x4480 them: for x3588 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 [is] with x5973 thee, which brought thee up 5927 z8688 out of the land 776 x4480 of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם. 4714

וְהָיָה כְּקָרָבְכֶם אֶל־הַמִּלְחָמָה וְנִגַּשׁ הַכֹּהֵן וְדִבֶּר אֶל־הָעָם

 20:2 w'häyäh K'qäräv'khem el-haMil'chämäh w'niGash haKohën w'diBer el-hääm

 20:2 And it shall be, x1961 when ye are come nigh 7126 z8800 unto x413 the battle, 4421 that the priest 3548 shall approach 5066 z8738 and speak 1696 z8765 unto x413 the people, 5971

וְאָמַר אֲלֵהֶם שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל אַתֶּם קְרֵבִים הַיּוֹם לַמִּלְחָמָה עַל־אֹיְבֵיכֶם אַל־יֵרַךְ לְבַבְכֶם אַל־תִּירְאוּ וְאַל־תַּחְפְּזוּ וְאַל־תַּעַרְצוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶם

 20:3 w'ämar álëhem sh'ma yis'räël aTem q'rëviym haYôm laMil'chämäh al-oy'vëykhem al-yërakh' l'vav'khem al-Tiyr'û w'al-Tach'P'zû w'al-Taar'tzû miP'nëyhem

כִּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הַהֹלֵךְ עִמָּכֶם לְהִלָּחֵם לָכֶם עִם־אֹיְבֵיכֶם לְהוֹשִׁיעַ אֶתְכֶם

 20:4 Kiy y'hwäh élohëykhem haholëkh' iMäkhem l'hiLächëm läkhem im-oy'vëykhem l'hôshiyª et'khem

וְדִבְּרוּ הַשֹּׁטְרִים אֶל־הָעָם לֵאמֹר מִי־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה בַיִת־חָדָשׁ וְלֹא חֲנָכוֹ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יַחְנְכֶנּוּ

 20:5 w'diB'rû haSHoţ'riym el-hääm lëmor miy-häiysh ásher Bänäh vayit-chädäsh w'lo chánäkhô yëlëkh' w'yäshov l'vëytô Pen-yämût BaMil'chämäh w'iysh achër yach'n'kheNû

 20:5 ¶ And the officers 7860 z8802 shall speak 1696 z8765 unto x413 the people, 5971 saying, 559 z8800 What x4310 man 376 [is there] that x834 hath built 1129 z8804 a new 2319 house, 1004 and hath not x3808 dedicated 2596 z8804 it? let him go y3212 z8799 x1980 and return 7725 z8799 to his house, 1004 lest x6435 he die 4191 z8799 in the battle, 4421 and another 312 man 376 dedicate 2596 z8799 it.

וּמִי־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־נָטַע כֶּרֶם וְלֹא חִלְּלוֹ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יְחַלְּלֶנּוּ

 20:6 ûmiy-häiysh ásher-näţa Kerem w'lo chiL'lô yëlëkh' w'yäshov l'vëytô Pen-yämût BaMil'chämäh w'iysh achër y'chaL'leNû

 20:6 And what x4310 man 376 [is he] that x834 hath planted 5193 z8804 a vineyard, 3754 and hath not x3808 [yet] eaten 2490 z8765 of it? let him [also] go y3212 z8799 x1980 and return 7725 z8799 unto his house, 1004 lest x6435 he die 4191 z8799 in the battle, 4421 and another 312 man 376 eat 2490 z8762 of it.

וּמִי־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־אֵרַשׂ אִשָּׁה וְלֹא לְקָחָהּ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יִקָּחֶנָּה

 20:7 ûmiy-häiysh ásher-ëras iSHäh w'lo l'qächäH yëlëkh' w'yäshov l'vëytô Pen-yämût BaMil'chämäh w'iysh achër yiQächeNäh

 20:7 And what x4310 man 376 [is there] that x834 hath betrothed 781 z8765 a wife, 802 and hath not x3808 taken 3947 z8804 her? let him go y3212 z8799 x1980 and return 7725 z8799 unto his house, 1004 lest x6435 he die 4191 z8799 in the battle, 4421 and another 312 man 376 take 3947 z8799 her.

וְיָסְפוּ הַשֹּׁטְרִים לְדַבֵּר אֶל־הָעָם וְאָמְרוּ מִי־הָאִישׁ הַיָּרֵא וְרַךְ הַלֵּבָב יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ וְלֹא יִמַּס אֶת־לְבַב אֶחָיו כִּלְבָבוֹ

 20:8 w'yäš'fû haSHoţ'riym l'daBër el-hääm w'äm'rû miy-häiysh haYärë w'rakh' haLëväv yëlëkh' w'yäshov l'vëytô w'lo yiMaš et-l'vav echäyw Kil'vävô

 20:8 And the officers 7860 z8802 shall speak 1696 z8763 further 3254 z8804 unto x413 the people, 5971 and they shall say, 559 z8804 What x4310 man 376 [is there that is] fearful 3373 and fainthearted? 7390 3824 let him go y3212 z8799 x1980 and return 7725 z8799 unto his house, 1004 lest x3808 x853 his brethren's 251 heart 3824 faint 4549 z8735 as well as his heart. 3824

וְהָיָה כְּכַלֹּת הַשֹּׁטְרִים לְדַבֵּר אֶל־הָעָם וּפָקְדוּ שָׂרֵי צְבָאוֹת בְּרֹאשׁ הָעָם ס

 20:9 w'häyäh K'khaLot haSHoţ'riym l'daBër el-hääm ûfäq'dû särëy tz'väôt B'rosh hääm š

 20:9 And it shall be, x1961 when the officers 7860 z8802 have made an end 3615 z8763 of speaking 1696 z8763 unto x413 the people, 5971 that they shall make 6485 z8804 captains 8269 of the armies 6635 to lead 7218 the people. 5971

כִּי־תִקְרַב אֶל־עִיר לְהִלָּחֵם עָלֶיהָ וְקָרָאתָ אֵלֶיהָ לְשָׁלוֹם

 20:10 Kiy-tiq'rav el-iyr l'hiLächëm äleyhä w'qärätä ëleyhä l'shälôm

 20:10 ¶ When x3588 thou comest nigh 7126 z8799 unto x413 a city 5892 to fight 3898 z8736 against x5921 it, then proclaim 7121 z8804 peace 7965 unto x413 it.

וְהָיָה אִם־שָׁלוֹם תַּעַנְךָ וּפָתְחָה לָךְ וְהָיָה כָּל־הָעָם הַנִּמְצָא־בָהּ יִהְיוּ לְךָ לָמַס וַעֲבָדוּךָ

 20:11 w'häyäh im-shälôm Taan'khä ûfät'chäh läkh' w'häyäh Käl-hääm haNim'tzä-väH yih'yû l'khä lämaš waávädûkhä

 20:11 And it shall be, x1961 if x518 it make thee answer 6030 z8799 of peace, 7965 and open 6605 z8804 unto thee, then it shall be, x1961 [that] all x3605 the people 5971 [that is] found 4672 z8737 therein shall be x1961 tributaries 4522 unto thee, and they shall serve 5647 z8804 thee.

וְאִם־לֹא תַשְׁלִים עִמָּךְ וְעָשְׂתָה עִמְּךָ מִלְחָמָה וְצַרְתָּ עָלֶיהָ

 20:12 w'im-lo tash'liym iMäkh' w'äs'täh iM'khä mil'chämäh w'tzar'Tä äleyhä

 20:12 And if x518 it will make no peace 7999 z8686 x3808 with x5973 thee, but will make 6213 z8804 war 4421 against x5973 thee, then thou shalt besiege 6696 z8804 x5921 it:

וּנְתָנָהּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּיָדֶךָ וְהִכִּיתָ אֶת־כָּל־זְכוּרָהּ לְפִי־חָרֶב

 20:13 ûn'tänäH y'hwäh éloheykhä B'yädekhä w'hiKiytä et-Käl-z'khûräH l'fiy-chärev

 20:13 And when Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 hath delivered 5414 z8804 it into thine hands, 3027 thou shalt smite 5221 z8689 x853 every x3605 male 2138 thereof with the edge 6310 of the sword: 2719

רַק הַנָּשִׁים וְהַטַּף וְהַבְּהֵמָה וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה בָעִיר כָּל־שְׁלָלָהּ תָּבֹז לָךְ וְאָכַלְתָּ אֶת־שְׁלַל אֹיְבֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לָךְ

 20:14 raq haNäshiym w'haŢaf w'haB'hëmäh w'khol ásher yih'yeh väiyr Käl-sh'läläH Tävoz läkh' w'äkhal'Tä et-sh'lal oy'veykhä ásher nätan y'hwäh éloheykhä läkh'

 20:14 But x7535 the women, 802 and the little ones, 2945 and the cattle, 929 and all x3605 that x834 is x1961 in the city, 5892 [even] all x3605 the spoil 7998 thereof, shalt thou take 962 z8799 unto thyself; and thou shalt eat 398 z8804 x853 the spoil 7998 of thine enemies, 341 z8802 which x834 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 hath given 5414 z8804 thee.

כֵּן תַּעֲשֶׂה לְכָל־הֶעָרִים הָרְחֹקֹת מִמְּךָ מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר לֹא־מֵעָרֵי הַגּוֹיִם־הָאֵלֶּה הֵנָּה

רַק מֵעָרֵי הָעַמִּים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ נַחֲלָה לֹא תְחַיֶּה כָּל־נְשָׁמָה

כִּי־הַחֲרֵם תַּחֲרִימֵם הַחִתִּי וְהָאֱמֹרִי הַכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ

 20:17 Kiy-hachárëm Tacháriymëm hachiTiy w'häémoriy haK'naániy w'haP'riZiy hachiûiy w'hay'vûšiy Kaásher tziû'khä y'hwäh éloheykhä

 20:17 But x3588 thou shalt utterly y2763 z8687 destroy 2763 z8686 them; [namely], the Çittîm חִתִּים, 2850 and the ´Émörîm אֱמֹרִים, 567 the Cæna`ánîm כְּנַעֲנִים, 3669 and the Pærizzîm פְּרִזִּים, 6522 the Çiwwîm חִוִּים, 2340 and the Yævûsîm יְבוּסִים; 2983 as x834 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 hath commanded 6680 z8765 thee:

כִּי־תָצוּר אֶל־עִיר יָמִים רַבִּים לְהִלָּחֵם עָלֶיהָ לְתָפְשָׂהּ לֹא־תַשְׁחִית אֶת־עֵצָהּ לִנְדֹּחַ עָלָיו גַּרְזֶן כִּי מִמֶּנּוּ תֹאכֵל וְאֹתוֹ לֹא תִכְרֹת כִּי הָאָדָם עֵץ הַשָּׂדֶה לָבֹא מִפָּנֶיךָ בַּמָּצוֹר

 20:19 Kiy-tätzûr el-iyr yämiym raBiym l'hiLächëm äleyhä l'täf'säH lo-tash'chiyt et-ëtzäH lin'Doªch äläyw Gar'zen Kiy miMeNû tokhël w'otô lo tikh'rot Kiy häädäm ëtz haSädeh lävo miPäneykhä BaMätzôr

 20:19 ¶ When x3588 thou shalt besiege 6696 z8799 x413 a city 5892 a long 7227 time, 3117 in making war 3898 z8736 against x5921 it to take 8610 z8800 it, thou shalt not x3808 destroy 7843 z8686 x853 the trees 6086 thereof by forcing 5080 z8800 an axe 1631 against x5921 them: for x3588 thou mayest eat 398 z8799 of x4480 them, and thou shalt not x3808 cut them down 3772 z8799 x853 (for x3588 the tree 6086 of the field 7704 [is] man's 120 [life]) to employ 935 z8800 x4480 x6440 [them] in the siege: 4692 y6440
