Genesis 50

1 The mourning for Jacob. 4 Joseph getteth leave of Pharaoh to go to bury him. 7 The funeral. 15 Joseph comforteth his brethren, who craved his pardon. 22 His age. 23 He seeth the third generation of his sons. 24 He prophesieth unto his brethren of their return. 25 He taketh an oath of them for his bones. 26 He dieth, and is chested.

 50:1 Then Joseph 3130 fell 5307 on his father’s 1 face 6440, and wept 1058 over 5921 him and kissed 5401a him.

 50:2 Joseph 3130 commanded 6680 his servants 5650 the physicians 7495 to embalm 2590 his father 1. So the physicians 7495 embalmed 2590 Israel 3478.

 50:3 Now forty 705 days 3117 were required 4390 for it, for such 3651 is the period 3117 required 4390 for embalming 2591b. And the Egyptians 4714 wept 1058 for him seventy 7657 days 3117.

 50:4 ¶ When the days 3117 of mourning 1068 for him were past 5674a, Joseph 3130 spoke 1696 to the household 1004 of Pharaoh 6547, saying 559, “If 518 now 4994 I have found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869, please 4994 speak 1696 to Pharaoh 6547, saying 559,

 50:5 ‘My father 1 made me swear 7650, saying 559, “Behold 2009, I am about to die 4191; in my grave 6913 which 834 I dug 3738a for myself in the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, there 8033 you shall bury 6912 me.” Now 6258 therefore, please 4994 let me go 5927 up and bury 6912 my father 1; then I will return 7725.’”

 50:6 Pharaoh 6547 said 559, “Go 5927 up and bury 6912 your father 1, as he made you swear 7650.”

 50:7 ¶ So Joseph 3130 went 5927 up to bury 6912 his father 1, and with him went 5927 up all 3605 the servants 5650 of Pharaoh 6547, the elders 2205 of his household 1004 and all 3605 the elders 2205 of the land 776 of Egypt 4714,

 50:8 and all 3605 the household 1004 of Joseph 3130 and his brothers 251 and his father’s 1 household 1004; they left 5800a only 7534 their little 2945 ones 2945 and their flocks 6629 and their herds 1241 in the land 776 of Goshen 1657.

 50:9 There also went 5927 up with him both 1571 chariots 7393 and horsemen 6571b; and it was a very 3966 great 3515 company 4264.

 50:10 When they came 935 to the threshing 1637 floor 1637 of Atad 329, which 834 is beyond 5676 the Jordan 3383, they lamented 5594 there 8033 with a very 3966 great 1419 and sorrowful 3515 lamentation 4553; and he observed 6213a seven 7651 days 3117 mourning 60 for his father 1.

 50:11 Now when the inhabitants 3427 of the land 776, the Canaanites 3669a, saw 7200 the mourning 60 at the threshing 1637 floor 1637 of Atad 329, they said 559, “This 2088 is a grievous 3515 mourning 60 for the Egyptians 4714.” Therefore 5921 3651 it was named 7121 8034 Abel-mizraim 67, which 834 is beyond 5676 the Jordan 3383.

 50:12 Thus 3651 his sons 1121 did 6213a for him as he had charged 6680 them;

 50:13 for his sons 1121 carried 5375 him to the land 776 of Canaan 3667a and buried 6912 him in the cave 4631 of the field 7704 of Machpelah 4375 before 5921 6440 Mamre 4471, which 834 Abraham 85 had bought 7069 along with the field 7704 for a burial 6913 site 272 from Ephron 6085 the Hittite 2850.

 50:14 After 310 he had buried 6912 his father 1, Joseph 3130 returned 7725 to Egypt 4714, he and his brothers 251, and all 3605 who had gone 5927 up with him to bury 6912 his father 1.

 50:15 ¶ When Joseph’s 3130 brothers 251 saw 7200 that their father 1 was dead 4191, they said 559, “What if Joseph 3130 bears 7852 a grudge 7852 against 7852 us and pays 7725 us back 7725 in full 7725 for all 3605 the wrong 7463a which 834 we did 1580 to him!”

 50:16 So they sent 6680 [a message] to Joseph 3130, saying 559, “Your father 1 charged 6680 before 6440 he died 4194, saying 559,

 50:17 ‘Thus 3541 you shall say 559 to Joseph 3130, “Please 4994 forgive 5375, I beg 577 you, the transgression 6588 of your brothers 251 and their sin 2403b, for they did 1580 you wrong 7463a.”’ And now 6258, please 4994 forgive 5375 the transgression 6588 of the servants 5650 of the God 430 of your father 1.” And Joseph 3130 wept 1058 when they spoke 1696 to him.

 50:18 Then his brothers 251 also 1571 came 1980 and fell 5307 down 5307 before 6440 him and said 559, “Behold 2009, we are your servants 5650.”

 50:19 But Joseph 3130 said 559 to them, “Do not be afraid 3372a, for am I in God’s 430 place 8478?

 50:20 “As for you, you meant 2803 evil 7463a against 5921 me, [but] God 430 meant 2803 it for good 2899b in order 4616 to bring 6213a about 6213a this 2088 present 3117 result, to preserve 2421a many 7227a people 5971a alive 2421a.

 50:21 “So 6258 therefore, do not be afraid 3372a; I will provide 3557 for you and your little 2945 ones 2945.” So he comforted 5162 them and spoke 1696 kindly 3820 to them.

 50:22 ¶ Now Joseph 3130 stayed 3427 in Egypt 4714, he and his father’s 1 household 1004, and Joseph 3130 lived 2421a one hundred 3967 and ten 6235 years 8141.

 50:23 Joseph 3130 saw 7200 the third 8029 generation of Ephraim’s 669 sons 1121; also 1571 the sons 1121 of Machir 4353, the son 1121 of Manasseh 4519, were born 3205 on Joseph’s 3130 knees 1290.

 50:24 Joseph 3130 said 559 to his brothers 251, “I am about to die 4191, but God 430 will surely 6485 take 6485 care 6485 of you and bring 5927 you up from this 2088 land 776 to the land 776 which 834 He promised 7650 on oath 7650 to Abraham 85, to Isaac 3327 and to Jacob 3290.”

 50:25 Then Joseph 3130 made the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 swear 7650, saying 559, “God 430 will surely 6485 take 6485 care 6485 of you, and you shall carry 5927 my bones 6106 up from here 2088.”

 50:26 So Joseph 3130 died 4191 at the age 1121 of one hundred 3967 and ten 6235 years 8141; and he was embalmed 2590 and placed 7760 in a coffin 727 in Egypt 4714.
