Genesis 35

1 God sendeth Jacob to Beth-el. 2 He purgeth his house of idols. 6 He buildeth an altar at Beth-el. 8 Deborah dieth at Allon-bachuth. 9 God blesseth Jacob at Beth-el. 16 Rachel travaileth of Benjamin, and dieth in the way to Ephrath. 22 Reuben lieth with Bilhah. 23 The sons of Jacob. 27 Jacob cometh to Isaac at Hebron. 28 The age, death, and burial of Isaac.

 35:1 Then God 430 said 559 to Jacob 3290, “Arise 6965, go 5927 up to Bethel 1008 and live 3427 there 8033, and make 6213a an altar 4196 there 8033 to God 410, who appeared 7200 to you when you fled 1272 from your brother 251 Esau 6215.”

 35:2 So Jacob 3290 said 559 to his household 1004 and to all 3605 who 834 were with him, “Put 5493 away 5493 the foreign 5236 gods 430 which 834 are among 8432 you, and purify 2891 yourselves and change 2498 your garments 8071;

 35:3 and let us arise 6965 and go 5927 up to Bethel 1008, and I will make 6213a an altar 4196 there 8033 to God 410, who answered 6030a me in the day 3117 of my distress 6869a and has been 1961 with me wherever 1870 834 I have gone 1980.”

 35:4 So they gave 5414 to Jacob 3290 all 3605 the foreign 5236 gods 430 which 834 they had 3027 and the rings 5141 which 834 were in their ears 241, and Jacob 3290 hid 2934 them under 8478 the oak 424 which 834 was near 5973 Shechem 7927.

 35:5 ¶ As they journeyed 5265, there was a great 430 terror 2847 upon the cities 5892b which 834 were around 5439 them, and they did not pursue 7291 the sons 1121 of Jacob 3290.

 35:6 So Jacob 3290 came 935 to Luz 3870 (that is, Bethel 1008), which 834 is in the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, he and all 3605 the people 5971a who 834 were with him.

 35:7 He built 1129 an altar 4196 there 8033, and called 7121 the place 4725 El-bethel 416, because 3588 there 8033 God 430 had revealed 1540 Himself to him when he fled 1272 from his brother 251.

 35:8 Now Deborah 1683, Rebekah’s 7259 nurse 3243, died 4191, and she was buried 6912 below 4480 8478 Bethel 1008 under 8478 the oak 437; it was named 7121 8034 Allon-bacuth 439.

 35:9 ¶ Then God 430 appeared 7200 to Jacob 3290 again 5750 when he came 935 from Paddan-aram 6307, and He blessed 1288 him.

 35:10 God 430 said 559 to him, “Your name 8034 is Jacob 3290; You shall no 3808 longer 5750 be called 7121 Jacob 3290, But Israel 3478 shall be your name 8034.” Thus He called 7121 him Israel 3478.

 35:11 God 430 also said 559 to him, “I am God 410 Almighty 7706b; Be fruitful 6509 and multiply 7235a; A nation 1471 and a company 6951 of nations 1471 shall come 1961 from you, And kings 4428 shall come 3318 forth 3318 from you.

 35:12 “The land 776 which 834 I gave 5414 to Abraham 85 and Isaac 3327, I will give 5414 it to you, And I will give 5414 the land 776 to your descendants 2233 after you.”

 35:13 Then God 430 went 5927 up from him in the place 4725 where 834 He had spoken 1696 with him.

 35:14 Jacob 3290 set 5324 up a pillar 4676 in the place 4725 where 834 He had spoken 1696 with him, a pillar 4676 of stone 68, and he poured 5258a out a drink 5262a offering 5262a on it; he also poured 3332 oil 8081 on it.

 35:15 So Jacob 3290 named 7121 8034 the place 4725 where 834 8033 God 430 had spoken 1696 with him, Bethel 1008.

 35:16 ¶ Then they journeyed 5265 from Bethel 1008; and when there was still 5750 some 3530 distance 3530 776 to go 935 to Ephrath 672, Rachel 7354 began to give 3205 birth 3205 and she suffered 7185 severe 7185 labor 3205.

 35:17 When she was in severe 7185 labor 3205 the midwife 3205 said 559 to her, “Do not fear 3372a, for now 1571 2088 you have another son 1121.”

 35:18 It came 1961 about as her soul 5315 was departing 3318 (for she died 4191), that she named 7121 8034 him Ben-oni 1126; but his father 1 called 7121 him Benjamin 1144.

 35:19 So Rachel 7354 died 4191 and was buried 6912 on the way 1870 to Ephrath 672 (that is, Bethlehem 1035).

 35:20 Jacob 3290 set 5324 up a pillar 4676 over 5921 her grave 6900; that is the pillar 4676 of Rachel’s 7354 grave 6900 to this day 3117.

 35:21 Then Israel 3478 journeyed 5265 on and pitched 5186 his tent 168 beyond 4480 1973 the tower 4029 of Eder 4029.

 35:22 ¶ It came 1961 about while Israel 3478 was dwelling 7931 in that land 776, that Reuben 7205 went 1980 and lay 7901 with Bilhah 1090a his father’s 1 concubine 6370, and Israel 3478 heard 8085 [of it]. ¶ Now there were twelve 8147 6240 sons 1121 of Jacob 3290—

 35:23 the sons 1121 of Leah 3812: Reuben 7205, Jacob’s 3290 firstborn 1060, then Simeon 8095 and Levi 3878 and Judah 3063 and Issachar 3485 and Zebulun 2074;

 35:24 the sons 1121 of Rachel 7354: Joseph 3130 and Benjamin 1144;

 35:25 and the sons 1121 of Bilhah 1090a, Rachel’s 7354 maid 8198: Dan 1835 and Naphtali 5321;

 35:26 and the sons 1121 of Zilpah 2153, Leah’s 3812 maid 8198: Gad 1410 and Asher 836. These 428 are the sons 1121 of Jacob 3290 who 834 were born 3205 to him in Paddan-aram 6307.

 35:27 ¶ Jacob 3290 came 935 to his father 1 Isaac 3327 at Mamre 4471 of Kiriath-arba 7153 (that is, Hebron 2275a), where 834 8033 Abraham 85 and Isaac 3327 had sojourned 1481a.

 35:28 ¶ Now the days 3117 of Isaac 3327 were one hundred 3967 and eighty 8084 years 8141.

 35:29 Isaac 3327 breathed 1478 his last 1478 and died 4191 and was gathered 622 to his people 5971b, an old 2205 man 2205 of ripe 7649 age 3117; and his sons 1121 Esau 6215 and Jacob 3290 buried 6912 him.
