Genesis 19

1 Lot entertaineth two angels. 4 The vicious Sodomites are stricken with blindness. 12 Lot is sent for safety into the mountains. 18 He obtaineth leave to go into Zoar. 24 Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed. 26 Lot's wife is a pillar of salt. 30 Lot dwelleth in a cave. 31 The incestuous original of Moab and Ammon.

 19:1 Now the two 8147 angels 4397 came 935 to Sodom 5467 in the evening 6153 as Lot 3876 was sitting 3427 in the gate 8179 of Sodom 5467. When Lot 3876 saw 7200 [them], he rose 6965 to meet 7122 them and bowed 7812 down 7812 [with his] face 639 to the ground 776.

 19:2 And he said 559, “Now 4994 behold 2009, my lords 136, please 4994 turn 5493 aside 5493 into your servant’s 5650 house 1004, and spend 3885a the night 3885a, and wash 7364 your feet 7272; then you may rise 7925 early 7925 and go 1980 on your way 1870.” They said 559 however, “No 3808, but we shall spend 3885a the night 3885a in the square 7339.”

 19:3 Yet he urged 6484 them strongly 3966, so they turned 5493 aside 5493 to him and entered 935 his house 1004; and he prepared 6213a a feast 4960 for them, and baked 644 unleavened 4682 bread 4682, and they ate 398.

 19:4 Before 2962 they lay 7901 down 7901, the men 376 of the city 5892b, the men 376 of Sodom 5467, surrounded 5437 the house 1004, both 4480 young 5288 and old 2205, all 3605 the people 5971a from every quarter 7097a;

 19:5 and they called 7121 to Lot 3876 and said 559 to him, “Where 346 are the men 376 who 834 came 935 to you tonight 3915? Bring 3318 them out to us that we may have 3045 relations 3045 with them.”

 19:6 But Lot 3876 went 3318 out to them at the doorway 6607, and shut 5462 the door 1817 behind 310 him,

 19:7 and said 559, “Please 4994, my brothers 251, do not act 7489a wickedly 7489a.

 19:8 “Now 4994 behold 2009, I have two 8147 daughters 1323 who 834 have not had 3045 relations 3045 with man 376; please 4994 let me bring 3318 them out to you, and do 6213a to them whatever 2896a 5869 you like 2896a 5869; only 7534 do 6213a nothing 408 1697 to these 411 men 376, inasmuch 3588 5921 3651 as they have come 935 under the shelter 6738 of my roof 6982.”

 19:9 But they said 559, “Stand 5066 aside 1973.” Furthermore, they said 559, “This one 259 came 935 in as an alien 1481a, and already 8199 he is acting 8199 like a judge 8199; now 6258 we will treat 7489a you worse 7489a than 4480 them.” So they pressed 6484 hard 3966 against Lot 3876 and came 5066 near 5066 to break 7665 the door 1817.

 19:10 But the men 376 reached 7971 out their hands 3027 and brought 935 Lot 3876 into the house 1004 with them, and shut 5462 the door 1817.

 19:11 They struck 5221 the men 376 who 834 were at the doorway 6607 of the house 1004 with blindness 5575, both 4480 small 6996b and great 1419, so that they wearied 3811 [themselves trying] to find 4672 the doorway 6607.

 19:12 ¶ Then the [two] men 376 said 559 to Lot 3876, “Whom 4310 else 5750 have you here 6311? A son-in-law 2860a, and your sons 1121, and your daughters 1323, and whomever 3605 834 you have in the city 5892b, bring 3318 [them] out of the place 4725;

 19:13 for we are about to destroy 7843 this 2088 place 4725, because 3588 their outcry 6818 has become 1431 so 3588 great 1431 before 6440 the LORD 3068 that the LORD 3068 has sent 7971 us to destroy 7843 it.”

 19:14 Lot 3876 went 3318 out and spoke 1696 to his sons-in-law 2860a, who were to marry 3947 his daughters 1323, and said 559, “Up, get 3318 out of this 2088 place 4725, for the LORD 3068 will destroy 7843 the city 5892b.” But he appeared 1961 5869 to his sons-in-law 2860a to be jesting 6711.

 19:15 ¶ When 3644 morning 7837 dawned 5927, the angels 4397 urged 213 Lot 3876, saying 559, “Up, take 3947 your wife 802 and your two 8147 daughters 1323 who are here 4672, or 6435 you will be swept 5595 away 5595 in the punishment 5771 of the city 5892b.”

 19:16 But he hesitated 4102. So the men 376 seized 2388 his hand 3027 and the hand 3027 of his wife 802 and the hands 3027 of his two 8147 daughters 1323, for the compassion 2551 of the LORD 3068 [was] upon him; and they brought 3318 him out, and put 5117 him outside 4480 2351 the city 5892b.

 19:17 When they had brought 3318 them outside 2351, one said 559, “Escape 4422 for your life 5315! Do not look 5027 behind 310 you, and do not stay 5975 anywhere 3605 in the valley 3603; escape 4422 to the mountains 2022, or 6435 you will be swept 5595 away 5595.”

 19:18 But Lot 3876 said 559 to them, “Oh 4994 no 408, my lords 136!

 19:19 “Now 4994 behold 2009, your servant 5650 has found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869, and you have magnified 1431 your lovingkindness 2617a, which 834 you have shown 6213a me by saving 2421a my life 5315; but I cannot 3201 3808 escape 4422 to the mountains 2022, for the disaster 7463a will overtake 1692 me and I will die 4191;

 19:20 now 4994 behold 2009, this 2088 town 5892b is near 7138 [enough] to flee 5127 to, and it is small 4705. Please 4994, let me escape 4422 there 8033 (is it not small 4705?) that my life 5315 may be saved 2421a.”

 19:21 He said 559 to him, “Behold 2009, I grant 5375 you this 2088 request 1697 also 1571, not to overthrow 2015 the town 5892b of which 834 you have spoken 1696.

 19:22 “Hurry 4116, escape 4422 there 8033, for I cannot 3201 3808 do 6213a anything 1697 until 5704 you arrive 935 there 8033.” Therefore 5921 3651 the name 8034 of the town 5892b was called 7121 Zoar 6820.

 19:23 ¶ The sun 8121 had risen 3318 over 5921 the earth 776 when Lot 3876 came 935 to Zoar 6820.

 19:24 Then the LORD 3068 rained 4305 on Sodom 5467 and Gomorrah 6017 brimstone 1614 and fire 784 from the LORD 3068 out of heaven 8064,

 19:25 and He overthrew 2015 those 411 cities 5892b, and all 3605 the valley 3603, and all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of the cities 5892b, and what 6780 grew 6780 on the ground 127.

 19:26 But his wife 802, from behind 310 him, looked 5027 [back], and she became 1961 a pillar 5333 of salt 4417.

 19:27 ¶ Now Abraham 85 arose 7925 early 7925 in the morning 1242 [and went] to the place 4725 where 834 8033 he had stood 5975 before 6440 the LORD 3068;

 19:28 and he looked 8259 down 8259 toward 5921 6440 Sodom 5467 and Gomorrah 6017, and toward 5921 6440 all 3605 the land 776 of the valley 3603, and he saw 7200, and behold 2009, the smoke 7008 of the land 776 ascended 5927 like the smoke 7008 of a furnace 3536.

 19:29 ¶ Thus it came 1961 about, when God 430 destroyed 7843 the cities 5892b of the valley 3603, that God 430 remembered 2142 Abraham 85, and sent 7971 Lot 3876 out of the midst 8432 of the overthrow 2018, when He overthrew 2015 the cities 5892b in which 834 Lot 3876 lived 3427.

 19:30 ¶ Lot 3876 went 5927 up from Zoar 6820, and stayed 3427 in the mountains 2022, and his two 8147 daughters 1323 with him; for he was afraid 3372a to stay 3427 in Zoar 6820; and he stayed 3427 in a cave 4631, he and his two 8147 daughters 1323.

 19:31 Then the firstborn 1067 said 559 to the younger 6810, “Our father 1 is old 2204, and there 369 is not a man 376 on earth 776 to come 935 in to us after the manner 1870 of the earth 776.

 19:32 “Come 1980, let us make our father 1 drink 8248 wine 3196, and let us lie 7901 with him that we may preserve 2421a our family 2233 through 4480 our father 1.”

 19:33 So they made their father 1 drink 8248 wine 3196 that night 3915, and the firstborn 1067 went 935 in and lay 7901 with her father 1; and he did not know 3045 when she lay 7901 down 7901 or when she arose 6965.

 19:34 On the following 4283 day 4283, the firstborn 1067 said 559 to the younger 6810, “Behold 2005, I lay 7901 last 570 night 570 with my father 1; let us make him drink 8248 wine 3196 tonight 3915 also 1571; then you go 935 in and lie 7901 with him, that we may preserve 2421a our family 2233 through 4480 our father 1.”

 19:35 So they made their father 1 drink 8248 wine 3196 that night 3915 also 1571, and the younger 6810 arose 6965 and lay 7901 with him; and he did not know 3045 when she lay 7901 down 7901 or when she arose 6965.

 19:36 Thus both 8147 the daughters 1323 of Lot 3876 were with child 2029 by their father 1.

 19:37 The firstborn 1067 bore 3205 a son 1121, and called 7121 his name 8034 Moab 4124; he is the father 1 of the Moabites 4124 to this day 3117.

 19:38 As for the younger 6810, she also 1571 bore 3205 a son 1121, and called 7121 his name 8034 Ben-ammi 1151; he is the father 1 of the sons 1121 of Ammon 5983 to this day 3117.
