Genesis 11

1 One language in the world. 3 The building of Babel. 6 The confusion of tongues. 10 The generations of Shem. 27 The generations of Terah the father of Abram. 31 Terah goeth from Ur to Haran.

 11:1 Now the whole 3605 earth 776 used 1961 the same 259 language 8193 and the same 259 words 1697.

 11:2 It came 1961 about as they journeyed 5265 east 6924a, that they found 4672 a plain 1237 in the land 776 of Shinar 8152 and settled 3427 there 8033.

 11:3 They said 559 to one 376 another 7453, “Come 3051, let us make 3835b bricks 3835 and burn 8313 [them] thoroughly 8316.” And they used 1961 brick 3843 for stone 68, and they used 1961 tar 2564 for mortar 2563a.

 11:4 They said 559, “Come 3051, let us build 1129 for ourselves a city 5892b, and a tower 4026 whose top 7218 [will reach] into heaven 8064, and let us make 6213a for ourselves a name 8034, otherwise 6435 we will be scattered 6327a abroad over 5921 the face 6440 of the whole 3605 earth 776.”

 11:5 The LORD 3068 came 3381 down 3381 to see 7200 the city 5892b and the tower 4026 which 834 the sons 1121 of men 120 had built 1129.

 11:6 The LORD 3068 said 559, “Behold 2005, they are one 259 people 5971a, and they all 3605 have the same 259 language 8193. And this 2088 is what they began 2490c to do 6213a, and now 6258 nothing 3808 3605 which 834 they purpose 2161 to do 6213a will be impossible 1219 for them.

 11:7 “Come 3051, let Us go 3381 down 3381 and there 8033 confuse 1101a their language 8193, so 834 that they will not understand 8085 one 376 another’s 7453 speech 8193.”

 11:8 So the LORD 3068 scattered 6327a them abroad from there 8033 over 5921 the face 6440 of the whole 3605 earth 776; and they stopped 2308 building 1129 the city 5892b.

 11:9 Therefore 5921 3651 its name 8034 was called 7121 Babel 894, because 3588 there 8033 the LORD 3068 confused 1101a the language 8193 of the whole 3605 earth 776; and from there 8033 the LORD 3068 scattered 6327a them abroad over 5921 the face 6440 of the whole 3605 earth 776.

 11:10 ¶ These 428 are [the records of] the generations 8435 of Shem 8035. Shem 8035 was one hundred 3967 years 8141 old 1121, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Arpachshad 775 two years 8141 after 310 the flood 3999;

 11:11 and Shem 8035 lived 2421a five 2568 hundred 3967 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Arpachshad 775, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:12 ¶ Arpachshad 775 lived 2421a thirty-five 7970 2568 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Shelah 7974;

 11:13 and Arpachshad 775 lived 2421a four 702 hundred 3967 and three 7969 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Shelah 7974, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:14 ¶ Shelah 7974 lived 2421a thirty 7970 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Eber 5677;

 11:15 and Shelah 7974 lived 2421a four 702 hundred 3967 and three 7969 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Eber 5677, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:16 ¶ Eber 5677 lived 2421a thirty-four 7970 702 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Peleg 6389;

 11:17 and Eber 5677 lived 2421a four 702 hundred 3967 and thirty 7970 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Peleg 6389, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:18 ¶ Peleg 6389 lived 2421a thirty 7970 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Reu 7466a;

 11:19 and Peleg 6389 lived 2421a two hundred 3967 and nine 8672 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Reu 7466a, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:20 ¶ Reu 7466a lived 2421a thirty-two 7970 8147 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Serug 8286;

 11:21 and Reu 7466a lived 2421a two hundred 3967 and seven 7651 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Serug 8286, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:22 ¶ Serug 8286 lived 2421a thirty 7970 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Nahor 5152;

 11:23 and Serug 8286 lived 2421a two hundred 3967 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Nahor 5152, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:24 ¶ Nahor 5152 lived 2421a twenty-nine 6242 8672 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Terah 8646;

 11:25 and Nahor 5152 lived 2421a one hundred 3967 and nineteen 8672 6240 years 8141 after 310 he became 3205 the father 3205 of Terah 8646, and he had 3205 [other] sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 11:26 ¶ Terah 8646 lived 2421a seventy 7657 years 8141, and became 3205 the father 3205 of Abram 87, Nahor 5152 and Haran 2039.

 11:27 ¶ Now these 428 are [the records of] the generations 8435 of Terah 8646. Terah 8646 became 3205 the father 3205 of Abram 87, Nahor 5152 and Haran 2039; and Haran 2039 became 3205 the father 3205 of Lot 3876.

 11:28 Haran 2039 died 4191 in the presence 6440 of his father 1 Terah 8646 in the land 776 of his birth 4138, in Ur 218a of the Chaldeans 3778.

 11:29 Abram 87 and Nahor 5152 took 3947 wives 802 for themselves. The name 8034 of Abram’s 87 wife 802 was Sarai 8297; and the name 8034 of Nahor’s 5152 wife 802 was Milcah 4435, the daughter 1323 of Haran 2039, the father 1 of Milcah 4435 and Iscah 3252.

 11:30 Sarai 8297 was barren 6135; she had 369 no 369 child 2056.

 11:31 ¶ Terah 8646 took 3947 Abram 87 his son 1121, and Lot 3876 the son 1121 of Haran 2039, his grandson 1121, and Sarai 8297 his daughter-in-law 3618, his son 1121 Abram’s 87 wife 802; and they went 3318 out together 854 from Ur 218a of the Chaldeans 3778 in order to enter 1980 the land 776 of Canaan 3667a; and they went 935 as far 5704 as Haran 2771a, and settled 3427 there 8033.

 11:32 The days 3117 of Terah 8646 were two hundred 3967 and five 2568 years 8141; and Terah 8646 died 4191 in Haran 2771a.
