Genesis 29

1 Jacob cometh to the well of Haran. 9 He taketh acquaintance of Rachel. 13 Laban entertaineth him. 18 Jacob covenanteth for Rachel. 23 He is deceived with Leah. 28 He marrieth also Rachel, and serveth for her seven years more. 32 Leah beareth Reuben, 33 Simeon, 34 Levi, 35 and Judah.

 29:1 Then Jacob 3290 went 5375 on his journey 7272, and came 1980 to the land 776 of the sons 1121 of the east 6924a.

 29:2 He looked 7200, and saw 7200 a well 875 in the field 7704, and behold 2009, three 7969 flocks 5739 of sheep 6629 were lying 7257 there 8033 beside 5921 it, for from that well 875 they watered 8248 the flocks 5739. Now the stone 68 on the mouth 6310 of the well 875 was large 1419.

 29:3 When all 3605 the flocks 5739 were gathered 622 there 8033, they would then roll 1556 the stone 68 from the mouth 6310 of the well 875 and water 8248 the sheep 6629, and put 7725 the stone 68 back 7725 in its place 4725 on the mouth 6310 of the well 875.

 29:4 ¶ Jacob 3290 said 559 to them, “My brothers 251, where 370 are you from?” And they said 559, “We are from Haran 2771a.”

 29:5 He said 559 to them, “Do you know 3045 Laban 3837a the son 1121 of Nahor 5152?” And they said 559, “We know 3045 [him].”

 29:6 And he said 559 to them, “Is it well 7965 with him?” And they said 559, “It is well 7965, and here 2009 is Rachel 7354 his daughter 1323 coming 935 with the sheep 6629.”

 29:7 He said 559, “Behold 2005, it is still 5750 high 1419 day 3117; it is not time 6256 for the livestock 4735 to be gathered 622. Water 8248 the sheep 6629, and go 1980, pasture 7462a them.”

 29:8 But they said 559, “We cannot 3201 3808, until 5704 834 all 3605 the flocks 5739 are gathered 622, and they roll 1556 the stone 68 from the mouth 6310 of the well 875; then we water 8248 the sheep 6629.”

 29:9 ¶ While he was still 5750 speaking 1696 with them, Rachel 7354 came 935 with her father’s 1 sheep 6629, for she was a shepherdess 7462a.

 29:10 When 3512c Jacob 3290 saw 7200 Rachel 7354 the daughter 1323 of Laban 3837a his mother’s 517 brother 251, and the sheep 6629 of Laban 3837a his mother’s 517 brother 251, Jacob 3290 went 5066 up and rolled 1556 the stone 68 from the mouth 6310 of the well 875 and watered 8248 the flock 6629 of Laban 3837a his mother’s 517 brother 251.

 29:11 Then Jacob 3290 kissed 5401a Rachel 7354, and lifted 5375 his voice 6963 and wept 1058.

 29:12 Jacob 3290 told 5046 Rachel 7354 that he was a relative 251 of her father 1 and that he was Rebekah’s 7259 son 1121, and she ran 7323 and told 5046 her father 1.

 29:13 ¶ So when Laban 3837a heard 8085 the news 8088 of Jacob 3290 his sister’s 269 son 1121, he ran 7323 to meet 7122 him, and embraced 2263 him and kissed 5401a him and brought 935 him to his house 1004. Then he related 5608 to Laban 3837a all 3605 these 428 things 1697.

 29:14 Laban 3837a said 559 to him, “Surely 389 you are my bone 6106 and my flesh 1320.” And he stayed 3427 with him a month 2320.

 29:15 ¶ Then Laban 3837a said 559 to Jacob 3290, “Because 3588 you are my relative 251, should you therefore serve 5647 me for nothing 2600? Tell 5046 me, what 4100 shall your wages 4909 be?”

 29:16 Now Laban 3837a had two 8147 daughters 1323; the name 8034 of the older 1419 was Leah 3812, and the name 8034 of the younger 6996a was Rachel 7354.

 29:17 And Leah’s 3812 eyes 5869 were weak 7390, but Rachel 7354 was beautiful 3303 of form 8389 and face 4758.

 29:18 Now Jacob 3290 loved 157 Rachel 7354, so he said 559, “I will serve 5647 you seven 7651 years 8141 for your younger 6996a daughter 1323 Rachel 7354.”

 29:19 Laban 3837a said 559, “It is better 2896a that I give 5414 her to you than 4480 to give 5414 her to another 312 man 376; stay 3427 with me.”

 29:20 So Jacob 3290 served 5647 seven 7651 years 8141 for Rachel 7354 and they seemed 1961 5869 to him but a few 259 days 3117 because of his love 160 for her.

 29:21 ¶ Then Jacob 3290 said 559 to Laban 3837a, “Give 3051 [me] my wife 802, for my time 3117 is completed 4390, that I may go 935 in to her.”

 29:22 Laban 3837a gathered 622 all 3605 the men 376 of the place 4725 and made 6213a a feast 4960.

 29:23 Now in the evening 6153 he took 3947 his daughter 1323 Leah 3812, and brought 935 her to him; and [Jacob] went 935 in to her.

 29:24 Laban 3837a also gave 5414 his maid 8198 Zilpah 2153 to his daughter 1323 Leah 3812 as a maid 8198.

 29:25 So it came 1961 about in the morning 1242 that, behold 2009, it was Leah 3812! And he said 559 to Laban 3837a, “What 4100 is this 2088 you have done 6213a to me? Was it not for Rachel 7354 that I served 5647 with you? Why 4100 then have you deceived 7411b me?”

 29:26 But Laban 3837a said 559, “It is not the practice 6213a 3651 in our place 4725 to marry 5414 off 5414 the younger 6810 before 6440 the firstborn 1067.

 29:27 “Complete 4390 the week 7620 of this 2088 one 2088, and we will give 5414 you the other 2088 also 1571 for the service 5656 which 834 you shall serve 5647 with me for another 312 seven 7651 years 8141.”

 29:28 Jacob 3290 did 6213a so 3651 and completed 4390 her week 7620, and he gave 5414 him his daughter 1323 Rachel 7354 as his wife 802.

 29:29 Laban 3837a also gave 5414 his maid 8198 Bilhah 1090a to his daughter 1323 Rachel 7354 as her maid 8198.

 29:30 So [Jacob] went 935 in to Rachel 7354 also 1571, and indeed 1571 he loved 157 Rachel 7354 more 4480 than 4480 Leah 3812, and he served 5647 with Laban for another 312 seven 7651 years 8141.

 29:31 ¶ Now the LORD 3068 saw 7200 that Leah 3812 was unloved 8130, and He opened 6605a her womb 7358, but Rachel 7354 was barren 6135.

 29:32 Leah 3812 conceived 2029 and bore 3205 a son 1121 and named 7121 8034 him Reuben 7205, for she said 559, “Because 3588 the LORD 3068 has seen 7200 my affliction 6040a; surely 3588 now 6258 my husband 376 will love 157 me.”

 29:33 Then she conceived 2029 again 5750 and bore 3205 a son 1121 and said 559, “Because 3588 the LORD 3068 has heard 8085 that I am unloved 8130, He has therefore given 5414 me this 2088 [son] also 1571.” So she named 7121 8034 him Simeon 8095.

 29:34 She conceived 2029 again 5750 and bore 3205 a son 1121 and said 559, “Now 6258 this 6471 time 6471 my husband 376 will become 3867a attached 3867a to me, because 3588 I have borne 3205 him three 7969 sons 1121.” Therefore 5921 3651 he was named 7121 8034 Levi 3878.

 29:35 And she conceived 2029 again 5750 and bore 3205 a son 1121 and said 559, “This 6471 time 6471 I will praise 3034 the LORD 3068.” Therefore 5921 3651 she named 7121 8034 him Judah 3063. Then she stopped 5975 bearing 3205.
