Genesis 27

1 Isaac sendeth Esau for venison. 6 Rebekah instructeth Jacob to obtain the blessing. 15 Jacob under the person of Esau obtaineth it. 30 Esau bringeth venison. 33 Isaac trembleth. 34 Esau complaineth, and by importunity obtaineth a blessing. 41 He threateneth Jacob. 42 Rebekah disappointeth it.

 27:1 Now it came 1961 about, when 3588 Isaac 3327 was old 2204 and his eyes 5869 were too 4480 dim 3543a to see 7200, that he called 7121 his older 1419 son 1121 Esau 6215 and said 559 to him, “My son 1121.” And he said 559 to him, “Here 2009 I am.”

 27:2 Isaac said 559, “Behold 2009 now 4994, I am 2204 old 2204 [and] I do not know 3045 the day 3117 of my death 4194.

 27:3 “Now 6258 then, please 4994 take 5375 your gear 3627, your quiver 8522 and your bow 7198, and go 3318 out to the field 7704 and hunt 6679 game 6718a for me;

 27:4 and prepare 6213a a savory 4303 dish 4303 for me such 3512c as I love 157, and bring 935 it to me that I may eat 398, so 5668 that my soul 5315 may bless 1288 you before 2962 I die 4191.”

 27:5 ¶ Rebekah 7259 was listening 8085 while Isaac 3327 spoke 1696 to his son 1121 Esau 6215. So when Esau 6215 went 1980 to the field 7704 to hunt 6679 for game 6718a to bring 935 [home],

 27:6 Rebekah 7259 said 559 to her son 1121 Jacob 3290, “Behold 2009, I heard 8085 your father 1 speak 1696 to your brother 251 Esau 6215, saying 559,

 27:7 ‘Bring 935 me [some] game 6718a and prepare 6213a a savory 4303 dish 4303 for me, that I may eat 398, and bless 1288 you in the presence 6440 of the LORD 3068 before 6440 my death 4194.’

 27:8 “Now 6258 therefore, my son 1121, listen 8085 to me as I command 6680 you.

 27:9 “Go 1980 now 4994 to the flock 6629 and bring 3947 me two 8147 choice 2896a young 1423 5795 goats 1423 5795 from there 8033, that I may prepare 6213a them [as] a savory 4303 dish 4303 for your father 1, such 3512c as he loves 157.

 27:10 “Then you shall bring 935 [it] to your father 1, that he may eat 398, so 5668 that he may bless 1288 you before 6440 his death 4194.”

 27:11 Jacob 3290 answered 559 his mother 517 Rebekah 7259, “Behold 2005, Esau 6215 my brother 251 is a hairy 8163a man 376 and I am a smooth 2509 man 376.

 27:12 “Perhaps 194 my father 1 will feel 4959 me, then I will be as a deceiver 8591a in his sight 5869, and I will bring 935 upon myself a curse 7045 and not a blessing 1293.”

 27:13 But his mother 517 said 559 to him, “Your curse 7045 be on me, my son 1121; only 389 obey 8085 my voice 6963, and go 1980, get 3947 [them] for me.”

 27:14 So he went 1980 and got 3947 [them], and brought 935 [them] to his mother 517; and his mother 517 made 6213a savory 4303 food 4303 such 3512c as his father 1 loved 157.

 27:15 Then Rebekah 7259 took 3947 the best 2536b garments 899b of Esau 6215 her elder 1419 son 1121, which 834 were with her in the house 1004, and put 3847 them on Jacob 3290 her younger 6996a son 1121.

 27:16 And she put 3847 the skins 5785 of the young 1423 5795 goats 1423 5795 on his hands 3027 and on the smooth 2513b part 2513b of his neck 6677.

 27:17 She also gave 5414 the savory 4303 food 4303 and the bread 3899, which 834 she had made 6213a, to her son 1121 Jacob 3290.

 27:18 ¶ Then he came 935 to his father 1 and said 559, “My father 1.” And he said 559, “Here 2009 I am. Who 4310 are you, my son 1121?”

 27:19 Jacob 3290 said 559 to his father 1, “I am Esau 6215 your firstborn 1060; I have done 6213a as you told 1696 me. Get 6965 up, please 4994, sit 3427 and eat 398 of my game 6718a, that you may bless 1288 me.”

 27:20 Isaac 3327 said 559 to his son 1121, “How 4100 is it that you have 4672 [it] so quickly 4116, my son 1121?” And he said 559, “Because 3588 the LORD 3068 your God 430 caused [it] to happen 7136a to me.”

 27:21 Then Isaac 3327 said 559 to Jacob 3290, “Please 4994 come 5066 close 5066, that I may feel 4184 you, my son 1121, whether you are really 2088 my son 1121 Esau 6215 or 518 not.”

 27:22 So Jacob 3290 came 5066 close 5066 to Isaac 3327 his father 1, and he felt 4959 him and said 559, “The voice 6963 is the voice 6963 of Jacob 3290, but the hands 3027 are the hands 3027 of Esau 6215.”

 27:23 He did not recognize 5234 him, because 3588 his hands 3027 were hairy 8163a like his brother 251 Esau’s 6215 hands 3027; so he blessed 1288 him.

 27:24 And he said 559, “Are you really 2088 my son 1121 Esau 6215?” And he said 559, “I am.”

 27:25 So he said 559, “Bring 5066 [it] to me, and I will eat 398 of my son’s 1121 game 6718a, that I may bless 1288 you.” And he brought 5066 [it] to him, and he ate 398; he also brought 935 him wine 3196 and he drank 8354.

 27:26 Then his father 1 Isaac 3327 said 559 to him, “Please 4994 come 5066 close 5066 and kiss 5401a me, my son 1121.”

 27:27 So he came 5066 close 5066 and kissed 5401a him; and when he smelled 7381a the smell 7381b of his garments 899b, he blessed 1288 him and said 559, “See 7200, the smell 7381b of my son 1121 Is like the smell 7381b of a field 7704 which 834 the LORD 3068 has blessed 1288;

 27:28 Now may God 430 give 5414 you of the dew 2919 of heaven 8064, And of the fatness 8082b of the earth 776, And an abundance 7230 of grain 1715 and new 8492 wine 8492;

 27:29 May peoples 5971a serve 5647 you, And nations 3816 bow 7812 down 7812 to you; Be master 1376 of your brothers 251, And may your mother’s 517 sons 1121 bow 7812 down 7812 to you. Cursed 779 be those who curse 779 you, And blessed 1288 be those who bless 1288 you.”

 27:30 ¶ Now it came 1961 about, as soon 3512c as Isaac 3327 had finished 3615 blessing 1288 Jacob 3290, and Jacob 3290 had hardly 389 3318 gone 3318 out from the presence 6440 of Isaac 3327 his father 1, that Esau 6215 his brother 251 came 935 in from his hunting 6718a.

 27:31 Then he also 1571 made 6213a savory 4303 food 4303, and brought 935 it to his father 1; and he said 559 to his father 1, “Let my father 1 arise 6965 and eat 398 of his son’s 1121 game 6718a, that you may bless 1288 me.”

 27:32 Isaac 3327 his father 1 said 559 to him, “Who 4310 are you?” And he said 559, “I am your son 1121, your firstborn 1060, Esau 6215.”

 27:33 Then Isaac 3327 trembled 2729 violently 2731 1419 5704 3966, and said 559, “Who 4310 was he then 645 that hunted 6679 game 6718a and brought 935 [it] to me, so that I ate 398 of all 3605 [of it] before 2962 you came 935, and blessed 1288 him? Yes 1571, and he shall be blessed 1288.”

 27:34 When Esau 6215 heard 8085 the words 1697 of his father 1, he cried 6817 out with an exceedingly 3966 great 1419 and bitter 4751 cry 6818, and said 559 to his father 1, “Bless 1288 me, [even] me also 1571, O my father 1!”

 27:35 And he said 559, “Your brother 251 came 935 deceitfully 4820 and has taken 3947 away your blessing 1293.”

 27:36 Then he said 559, “Is he not rightly named 7121 8034 Jacob 3290, for he has supplanted 6117 me these 2088 two 6471 times 6471? He took 3947 away my birthright 1062, and behold 2009, now 6258 he has taken 3947 away my blessing 1293.” And he said 559, “Have you not reserved 680 a blessing 1293 for me?”

 27:37 But Isaac 3327 replied 6030a to Esau 6215, “Behold 2005, I have made 7760 him your master 1376, and all 3605 his relatives 251 I have given 5414 to him as servants 5650; and with grain 1715 and new 8492 wine 8492 I have sustained 5564 him. Now as for you then 645, what 4100 can I do 6213a, my son 1121?”

 27:38 Esau 6215 said 559 to his father 1, “Do you have only one 259 blessing 1293, my father 1? Bless 1288 me, [even] me also 1571, O my father 1.” So Esau 6215 lifted 5375 his voice 6963 and wept 1058.

 27:39 ¶ Then Isaac 3327 his father 1 answered 6030a and said 559 to him, “Behold 2009, away from the fertility 8082b of the earth 776 shall be your dwelling 4186, And away from the dew 2919 of heaven 8064 from above 5921.

 27:40 “By your sword 2719 you shall live 2421a, And your brother 251 you shall serve 5647; But it shall come 1961 about when 3512c you become 7300 restless 7300, That you will break 6561 his yoke 5923 from your neck 6677.”

 27:41 ¶ So Esau 6215 bore 7852 a grudge 7852 against 7852 Jacob 3290 because 5921 of the blessing 1293 with which 834 his father 1 had blessed 1288 him; and Esau 6215 said 559 to himself 3820, “The days 3117 of mourning 60 for my father 1 are near 7126; then I will kill 2026 my brother 251 Jacob 3290.”

 27:42 Now when the words 1697 of her elder 1419 son 1121 Esau 6215 were reported 5046 to Rebekah 7259, she sent 7971 and called 7121 her younger 6996a son 1121 Jacob 3290, and said 559 to him, “Behold 2009 your brother 251 Esau 6215 is consoling 5162 himself concerning you [by planning] to kill 2026 you.

 27:43 “Now 6258 therefore, my son 1121, obey 8085 my voice 6963, and arise 6965, flee 1272 to Haran 2771a, to my brother 251 Laban 3837a!

 27:44 “Stay 3427 with him a few 259 days 3117, until 5704 834 your brother’s 251 fury 2534 subsides 7725,

 27:45 until 5704 your brother’s 251 anger 639 against 4480 you subsides 7725 and he forgets 7911 what 834 you did 6213a to him. Then I will send 7971 and get 3947 you from there 8033. Why 4100 should I be bereaved 7921 of you both 8147 in one 259 day 3117?”

 27:46 ¶ Rebekah 7259 said 559 to Isaac 3327, “I am tired 6973 of living 2425b because 4480 6440 of the daughters 1323 of Heth 2845; if 518 Jacob 3290 takes 3947 a wife 802 from the daughters 1323 of Heth 2845, like these 428, from the daughters 1323 of the land 776, what 4100 good will my life 2425b be to me?”
