Genesis 16

1 Sarai, being barren, giveth Hagar to Abram. 6 Hagar, being afflicted for despising her mistress, runneth away. 7 An angel sendeth her back to submit herself, 11 and telleth her of her child. 15 Ishmael is born.

 16:1 Now Sarai 8297, Abram’s 87 wife 802 had borne 3205 him no 3808 [children], and she had an Egyptian 4713 maid 8198 whose name 8034 was Hagar 1904.

 16:2 So Sarai 8297 said 559 to Abram 87, “Now 4994 behold 2009, the LORD 3068 has prevented 6113 me from bearing 3205 [children]. Please 4994 go 935 in to my maid 8198; perhaps 194 I will obtain 1129 children 1129 through 4480 her.” And Abram 87 listened 8085 to the voice 6963 of Sarai 8297.

 16:3 After 4480 Abram 87 had lived 3427 ten 6235 years 8141 in the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, Abram’s 87 wife 802 Sarai 8297 took 3947 Hagar 1904 the Egyptian 4713, her maid 8198, and gave 5414 her to her husband 376 Abram 87 as his wife 802.

 16:4 He went 935 in to Hagar 1904, and she conceived 2029; and when she saw 7200 that she had conceived 2029, her mistress 1404 was despised 7043 in her sight 5869.

 16:5 And Sarai 8297 said 559 to Abram 87, “May the wrong 2555 done me be upon you. I gave 5414 my maid 8198 into your arms 2436, but when she saw 7200 that she had conceived 2029, I was despised 7043 in her sight 5869. May the LORD 3068 judge 8199 between 996 you and me.”

 16:6 But Abram 87 said 559 to Sarai 8297, “Behold 2009, your maid 8198 is in your power 3027; do 6213a to her what 2896a is good 2896a in your sight 5869.” So Sarai 8297 treated 6031a her harshly 6031a, and she fled 1272 from her presence 6440.

 16:7 ¶ Now the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 found 4672 her by a spring 5871a of water 4325 in the wilderness 4057b, by the spring 5871a on the way 1870 to Shur 7793.

 16:8 He said 559, “Hagar 1904, Sarai’s 8297 maid 8198, where 335 2088 have you come 935 from and where 575 are you going 1980?” And she said 559, “I am fleeing 1272 from the presence 6440 of my mistress 1404 Sarai 8297.”

 16:9 Then the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 559 to her, “Return 7725 to your mistress 1404, and submit 6031a yourself to her authority 3027.”

 16:10 Moreover, the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 559 to her, “I will greatly 7235a multiply 7235a your descendants 2233 so that they will be too 3808 many 7230 to count 5608.”

 16:11 The angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 559 to her further, “Behold 2009, you are with child 2030, And you will bear 3205 a son 1121; And you shall call 7121 his name 8034 Ishmael 3458, Because 3588 the LORD 3068 has given 8085 heed 8085 to your affliction 6040a.

 16:12 “He will be a wild 6501 donkey 6501 of a man 120, His hand 3027 [will be] against everyone 3605, And everyone’s 3605 hand 3027 [will be] against him; And he will live 7931 to the east 6440 of all 3605 his brothers 251.”

 16:13 Then she called 7121 the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 who spoke 1696 to her, “You are a God 410 who 7210 sees 7200”; for she said 559, “Have I even 1571 remained 7200 alive 7200 here 1988 after 310 seeing 7210 Him?”

 16:14 Therefore 5921 3651 the well 875 was called 7121 Beer-lahai-roi 883; behold 2009, it is between 996 Kadesh 6946 and Bered 1260.

 16:15 ¶ So Hagar 1904 bore 3205 Abram 87 a son 1121; and Abram 87 called 7121 the name 8034 of his son 1121, whom 834 Hagar 1904 bore 3205, Ishmael 3458.

 16:16 Abram 87 was eighty-six 8084 years 8141 old 1121 when Hagar 1904 bore 3205 Ishmael 3458 to him.
