Ezekiel 33

1 According to the duty of a watchman, in warning the people, 7 Ezekiel is admonished of his duty. 10 God sheweth the justice of his ways towards the penitent, and towards revolters. 17 He maintaineth his justice. 21 Upon the news of the taking of Jerusalem he prophesieth the desolations of the land. 30 God's judgment upon the mockers of the prophets.

 33:1 And the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to me, saying 559,

 33:2 “Son 1121 of man 120, speak 1696 to the sons 1121 of your people 5971a and say 559 to them, ‘If 3588 I bring 935 a sword 2719 upon a land 776, and the people 5971a of the land 776 take 3947 one 259 man 376 from among 7097a them and make 5414 him their watchman 6822,

 33:3 and he sees 7200 the sword 2719 coming 935 upon the land 776 and blows 8628 on the trumpet 7782 and warns 2094b the people 5971a,

 33:4 then he who hears 8085 the sound 6963 of the trumpet 7782 and does not take 2094b warning 2094b, and a sword 2719 comes 935 and takes 3947 him away, his blood 1818 will be on his [own] head 7218.

 33:5 ‘He heard 8085 the sound 6963 of the trumpet 7782 but did not take 2094b warning 2094b; his blood 1818 will be on himself. But had he taken 2094b warning 2094b, he would have delivered 4422 his life 5315.

 33:6 ‘But if 3588 the watchman 6822 sees 7200 the sword 2719 coming 935 and does not blow 8628 the trumpet 7782 and the people 5971a are not warned 2094b, and a sword 2719 comes 935 and takes 3947 a person 5315 from them, he is taken 3947 away in his iniquity 5771; but his blood 1818 I will require 1875 from the watchman’s 6822 hand 3027.’

 33:7 ¶ “Now as for you, son 1121 of man 120, I have appointed 5414 you a watchman 6822 for the house 1004 of Israel 3478; so you will hear 8085 a message 1697 from My mouth 6310 and give 2094b them warning 2094b from Me.

 33:8 “When I say 559 to the wicked 7563, ‘O wicked 7563 man 7563, you will surely 4191 die 4191,’ and you do not speak 1696 to warn 2094b the wicked 7563 from his way 1870, that wicked 7563 man 7563 shall die 4191 in his iniquity 5771, but his blood 1818 I will require 1245 from your hand 3027.

 33:9 “But if 3588 you on your part 859 warn 2094b a wicked 7563 man 7563 to turn 7725 from his way 1870 and he does not turn 7725 from his way 1870, he will die 4191 in his iniquity 5771, but you have delivered 5337 your life 5315.

 33:10 ¶ “Now as for you, son 1121 of man 120, say 559 to the house 1004 of Israel 3478, ‘Thus 3651 you have spoken 559, saying 559, “Surely 3588 our transgressions 6588 and our sins 2403b are upon us, and we are rotting 4743 away 4743 in them; how 349 then can we survive 2421a?”’

 33:11 “Say 559 to them, ‘As I live 2416a!’ declares 5002 the Lord 136 GOD 3068, ‘I take 2654a no 518 pleasure 2654a in the death 4194 of the wicked 7563, but rather 3588 518 that the wicked 7563 turn 7725 from his way 1870 and live 2421a. Turn 7725 back 7725, turn 7725 back 7725 from your evil 7451a ways 1870! Why 4100 then will you die 4191, O house 1004 of Israel 3478?’

 33:12 “And you, son 1121 of man 120, say 559 to your fellow 1121 5971a citizens 5971a, ‘The righteousness 6666 of a righteous 6662 man 6662 will not deliver 5337 him in the day 3117 of his transgression 6588, and as for the wickedness 7564 of the wicked 7563, he will not stumble 3782 because of it in the day 3117 when he turns 7725 from his wickedness 7562; whereas a righteous 6662 man 6662 will not be able 3201 to live 2421a by his righteousness on the day 3117 when he commits 2398 sin 2398.’

 33:13 “When I say 559 to the righteous 6662 he will surely 2421a live 2421a, and he [so] trusts 982 in his righteousness 6666 that he commits 6213a iniquity 5766, none 3605 3808 of his righteous 6666 deeds 6666 will be remembered 2142; but in that same iniquity 5766 of his which 834 he has committed 6213a he will die 4191.

 33:14 “But when I say 559 to the wicked 7563, ‘You will surely 4191 die 4191,’ and he turns 7725 from his sin 2403b and practices 6213a justice 4941 and righteousness 6666,

 33:15 [if a] wicked 7563 man 7563 restores 7725 a pledge 2258, pays 7999a back 7999a what 1500 he has taken 1500 by robbery 1500, walks 1980 by the statutes 2708 which ensure life 2425b without 1115 committing 6213a iniquity 5766, he shall surely 2421a live 2421a; he shall not die 4191.

 33:16 “None 3605 3808 of his sins 2403b that he has committed 2398 will be remembered 2142 against him. He has practiced 6213a justice 4941 and righteousness 6666; he shall surely 2421a live 2421a.

 33:17 ¶ “Yet your fellow 1121 5971a citizens 5971a say 559, ‘The way 1870 of the Lord 136 is not right 8505,’ when it is their own way 1870 that is not right 8505.

 33:18 “When the righteous 6662 turns 7725 from his righteousness 6666 and commits 6213a iniquity 5766, then he shall die 4191 in it.

 33:19 “But when the wicked 7563 turns 7725 from his wickedness 7564 and practices 6213a justice 4941 and righteousness 6666, he will live 2421a by them.

 33:20 “Yet you say 559, ‘The way 1870 of the Lord 136 is not right 8505.’ O house 1004 of Israel 3478, I will judge 8199 each 376 of you according to his ways 1870.”

 33:21 ¶ Now in the twelfth 8147 6240 year 8141 of our exile 1546, on the fifth 2568 of the tenth 6224 month 2320, the refugees 6412a from Jerusalem 3389 came 935 to me, saying 559, “The city 5892b has been taken 5221.”

 33:22 Now the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 had been 1961 upon me in the evening 6153, before 6440 the refugees 6412a came 935. And He opened 6605a my mouth 6310 at the time 5704 [they] came 935 to me in the morning 1242; so my mouth 6310 was opened 6605a and I was no 3808 longer 5750 speechless 481.

 33:23 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to me saying 559,

 33:24 “Son 1121 of man 120, they who live 3427 in these 428 waste 2723 places 2723 in the land 127 of Israel 3478 are saying 559, ‘Abraham 85 was [only] one 259, yet he possessed 3423 the land 776; so to us who 7227a are many 7227a the land 776 has been given 5414 as a possession 4181.’

 33:25 “Therefore 3651 say 559 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the Lord 136 GOD 3068, “You eat 398 [meat] with the blood 1818 [in it], lift 5375 up your eyes 5869 to your idols 1544 as you shed 8210 blood 1818. Should you then possess 3423 the land 776?

 33:26 “You rely 5975 on your sword 2719, you commit 6213a abominations 8441 and each 376 of you defiles 2930 his neighbor’s 7453 wife 802. Should you then possess 3423 the land 776?”’

 33:27 “Thus 3541 you shall say 559 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the Lord 136 GOD 3068, “As I live 2416a, surely 518 3808 those who 834 are in the waste 2723 places 2723 will fall 5307 by the sword 2719, and whoever 834 is in the open 6440 field 7704 I will give 5414 to the beasts 2421b to be devoured 398, and those who 834 are in the strongholds 4679 and in the caves 4631 will die 4191 of pestilence 1698.

 33:28 “I will make 5414 the land 776 a desolation 8077 and a waste 4923, and the pride 1347b of her power 5797 will cease 7673a; and the mountains 2022 of Israel 3478 will be desolate 8074 so 4480 that no 369 one 369 will pass 5674a through 5674a.

 33:29 “Then they will know 3045 that I am the LORD 3068, when I make 5414 the land 776 a desolation 8077 and a waste 4923 because 5921 of all 3605 their abominations 8441 which 834 they have committed 6213a.”’

 33:30 ¶ “But as for you, son 1121 of man 120, your fellow 1121 5971a citizens 5971a who talk 1696 about you by the walls 7023 and in the doorways 6607 of the houses 1004, speak 1696 to one 2297 another 259, each 376 to his brother 251, saying 559, ‘Come 935 now 4994 and hear 8085 what 4100 the message 1697 is which comes 3318 forth 3318 from the LORD 3068.’

 33:31 “They come 935 to you as people 5971a come 3996, and sit 3427 before 6440 you [as] My people 5971a and hear 8085 your words 1697, but they do not do 6213a them, for they do 6213a the lustful 5690 desires 5690 [expressed] by their mouth 6310, [and] their heart 3820 goes 1980 after 310 their gain 1215.

 33:32 “Behold 2009, you are to them like a sensual 5690 song 7892a by one who has a beautiful 3303 voice 6963 and plays 5059 well 3190 on an instrument; for they hear 8085 your words 1697 but they do not practice 6213a them.

 33:33 “So when it comes 935 to pass 935—as surely 2009 it will—then they will know 3045 that a prophet 5030 has been 1961 in their midst 8432.”
