1 Samuel 29

1 David marching with the Philistines, 3 is disallowed by their princes. 6 Achish dismisseth him, with commendations of his fidelity.

 29:1 Now the Philistines 6430 gathered 6908 together all 3605 their armies 4264 to Aphek 663, while the Israelites 3478 were camping 2583 by the spring 5871a which 834 is in Jezreel 3157.

 29:2 And the lords 5633a of the Philistines 6430 were proceeding 5674a on by hundreds 3967 and by thousands 505, and David 1732 and his men 376 were proceeding 5674a on in the rear 314 with Achish 397.

 29:3 Then the commanders 8269 of the Philistines 6430 said 559, “What 4100 [are] these 428 Hebrews 5680 [doing here]?” And Achish 397 said 559 to the commanders 8269 of the Philistines 6430, “Is this 2088 not David 1732, the servant 5650 of Saul 7586 the king 4428 of Israel 3478, who 834 has been 1961 with me these 2088 days 3117, or 176 [rather] these 2088 years 8141, and I have found 4672 no 3808 fault 3972 in him from the day 3117 he deserted 5307 [to me] to this 2088 day 3117?”

 29:4 But the commanders 8269 of the Philistines 6430 were angry 7107 with him, and the commanders 8269 of the Philistines 6430 said 559 to him, “Make the man 376 go 7725 back 7725, that he may return 7725 to his place 4725 where 834 8033 you have assigned 6485 him, and do not let him go 3381 down 3381 to battle 4421 with us, or 3808 in the battle 4421 he may become 1961 an adversary 7854 to us. For with what 4100 could this 2088 [man] make 7521 himself acceptable 7521 to his lord 113? [Would it] not [be] with the heads 7218 of these 1992a men 376?

 29:5 “Is this 2088 not David 1732, of whom 834 they sing 6031b in the dances 4246, saying 559, ‘Saul 7586 has slain 5221 his thousands 505, And David 1732 his ten 7233 thousands 7233’?”

 29:6 ¶ Then Achish 397 called 7121 David 1732 and said 559 to him, “[As] the LORD 3068 lives 2416a, you [have been] upright 3477, and your going 3318 out and your coming 935 in with me in the army 4264 are pleasing 2896a in my sight 5869; for I have not found 4672 evil 7463a in you from the day 3117 of your coming 935 to me to this 2088 day 3117. Nevertheless, you are not pleasing 2896a in the sight 5869 of the lords 5633a.

 29:7 “Now 6258 therefore return 7725 and go 1980 in peace 7965, that you may not displease 6213a 7451a 5869 the lords 5633a of the Philistines 6430.”

 29:8 David 1732 said 559 to Achish 397, “But what 4100 have I done 6213a? And what 4100 have you found 4672 in your servant 5650 from the day 3117 when 834 I came 1961 before 6440 you to this 2088 day 3117, that I may not go 935 and fight 3898a against the enemies 340 of my lord 113 the king 4428?”

 29:9 But Achish 397 replied 6030a to David 1732, “I know 3045 that you are pleasing 2896a in my sight 5869, like an angel 4397 of God 430; nevertheless 389 the commanders 8269 of the Philistines 6430 have said 559, ‘He must not go 5927 up with us to the battle 4421.’

 29:10 “Now 6258 then arise 7925 early 7925 in the morning 1242 with the servants 5650 of your lord 113 who 834 have come 935 with you, and as soon as you have arisen 7925 early 7925 in the morning 1242 and have light 215, depart 1980.”

 29:11 So David 1732 arose 7925 early 7925, he and his men 376, to depart 1980 in the morning 1242 to return 7725 to the land 776 of the Philistines 6430. And the Philistines 6430 went 5927 up to Jezreel 3157.
