1 Samuel 3

1 How the Word of the LORD was first revealed to Samuel. 11 God telleth Samuel the destruction of Eli's house. 15 Samuel, though loth, telleth Eli the vision. 19 Samuel groweth in credit.

 3:1 Now the boy 5288 Samuel 8050 was ministering 8334 to the LORD 3068 before 6440 Eli 5941. And word 1697 from the LORD 3068 was rare 3368 in those 1992a days 3117, visions 2377 were infrequent 369 6555.

 3:2 ¶ It happened 1961 at that time 3117 as Eli 5941 was lying 7901 down 7901 in his place 4725 (now his eyesight 5869 had begun 2490c to grow dim 3544 [and] he could 3201 not see 7200 [well)],

 3:3 and the lamp 5216 of God 430 had not yet 2962 gone 3518 out, and Samuel 8050 was lying 7901 down 7901 in the temple 1964 of the LORD 3068 where 834 8033 the ark 727 of God 430 [was],

 3:4 that the LORD 3068 called 7121 Samuel 8050; and he said 559, “Here 2009 I am.”

 3:5 Then he ran 7323 to Eli 5941 and said 559, “Here 2009 I am, for you called 7121 me.” But he said 559, “I did not call 7121, lie 7901 down 7901 again 7725.” So he went 1980 and lay 7901 down 7901.

 3:6 The LORD 3068 called 7121 yet 5750 again 3254, “Samuel 8050!” So Samuel 8050 arose 6965 and went 1980 to Eli 5941 and said 559, “Here 2009 I am, for you called 7121 me.” But he answered 559, “I did not call 7121, my son 1121, lie 7901 down 7901 again 7725.”

 3:7 Now Samuel 8050 did not yet 2962 know 3045 the LORD 3068, nor 2962 had the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 yet 2962 been revealed 1540 to him.

 3:8 So the LORD 3068 called 7121 Samuel 8050 again 3254 for the third 7992 time 7992. And he arose 6965 and went 1980 to Eli 5941 and said 559, “Here 2009 I am, for you called 7121 me.” Then Eli 5941 discerned 995 that the LORD 3068 was calling 7121 the boy 5288.

 3:9 And Eli 5941 said 559 to Samuel 8050, “Go 1980 lie 7901 down 7901, and it shall be if 518 He calls 7121 you, that you shall say 559, ‘Speak 1696, LORD 3068, for Your servant 5650 is listening 8085.’” So Samuel 8050 went 1980 and lay 7901 down 7901 in his place 4725.

 3:10 ¶ Then the LORD 3068 came 935 and stood 3320 and called 7121 as at other 6471 times 6471, “Samuel 8050! Samuel 8050!” And Samuel 8050 said 559, “Speak 1696, for Your servant 5650 is listening 8085.”

 3:11 The LORD 3068 said 559 to Samuel 8050, “Behold 2009, I am about to do 6213a a thing 1697 in Israel 3478 at which 834 both 8147 ears 241 of everyone 3605 who hears 8085 it will tingle 6750.

 3:12 “In that day 3117 I will carry 6965 out against 413 Eli 5941 all 3605 that I have spoken 1696 concerning 413 his house 1004, from beginning 2490c to end 3615.

 3:13 “For I have told 5046 him that I am about to judge 8199 his house 1004 forever 5704 5769 for the iniquity 5771 which 834 he knew 3045, because 3588 his sons 1121 brought 7043 a curse 7043 on themselves 1992a and he did not rebuke 3543b them.

 3:14 “Therefore 3651 I have sworn 7650 to the house 1004 of Eli 5941 that the iniquity 5771 of Eli’s 5941 house 1004 shall not be atoned 3722a for by sacrifice 2077 or offering 4503 forever 5704 5769.”

 3:15 ¶ So Samuel 8050 lay 7901 down 7901 until 5704 morning 1242. Then he opened 6605a the doors 1817 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068. But Samuel 8050 was afraid 3372a to tell 5046 the vision 4759a to Eli 5941.

 3:16 Then Eli 5941 called 7121 Samuel 8050 and said 559, “Samuel 8050, my son 1121.” And he said 559, “Here 2009 I am.”

 3:17 He said 559, “What 4100 is the word 1697 that He spoke 1696 to you? Please 4994 do not hide 3582 it from me. May God 430 do 6213a so 3541 to you, and more 3254 also 3541, if 518 you hide 3582 anything 1697 from me of all 3605 the words 1697 that He spoke 1696 to you.”

 3:18 So Samuel 8050 told 5046 him everything 3605 and hid 3582 nothing 3808 from him. And he said 559, “It is the LORD 3068; let Him do 6213a what 2896a seems good 2896a to Him.”

 3:19 ¶ Thus Samuel 8050 grew 1431 and the LORD 3068 was with him and let none 3808 3605 of his words 1697 fail 5307 776.

 3:20 All 3605 Israel 3478 from Dan 1835 even to Beersheba 884 knew 3045 that Samuel 8050 was confirmed 539 as a prophet 5030 of the LORD 3068.

 3:21 And the LORD 3068 appeared 7200 again 3254 at Shiloh 7887, because 3588 the LORD 3068 revealed 1540 Himself to Samuel 8050 at Shiloh 7887 by the word 1697 of the LORD 3068.
