1 Samuel 7

1 They of Kirjath-Jearim bring the Ark into the house of Abinadab, and sanctify Eleazar his son to keep it. 2 After twenty years 3 the Israelites, by Samuel's means, solemnly repent at Mizpeh. 9 While Samuel prayeth and sacrificeth, the LORD discomfiteth the Philistines by thunder at Eben-ezer. 13 The Philistines are subdued. 15 Samuel peaceably and religiously judgeth Israel.

 7:1 And the men 376 of Kiriath-jearim 7157 came 935 and took 5927 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068 and brought 935 it into the house 1004 of Abinadab 41 on the hill 1389, and consecrated 6942 Eleazar 499 his son 1121 to keep 8104 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068.

 7:2 From the day 3117 that the ark 727 remained 3427 at Kiriath-jearim 7157, the time 3117 was long 7235a, for it was twenty 6242 years 8141; and all 3605 the house 1004 of Israel 3478 lamented 5091 after 310 the LORD 3068.

 7:3 ¶ Then Samuel 8050 spoke 559 to all 3605 the house 1004 of Israel 3478, saying 559, “If 518 you return 7725 to the LORD 3068 with all 3605 your heart 3824, remove 5493 the foreign 5236 gods 430 and the Ashtaroth 6252b from among 8432 you and direct 3559 your hearts 3824 to the LORD 3068 and serve 5647 Him alone 905; and He will deliver 5337 you from the hand 3027 of the Philistines 6430.”

 7:4 So the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 removed 5493 the Baals 1168a and the Ashtaroth 6252b and served 5647 the LORD 3068 alone 905.

 7:5 ¶ Then Samuel 8050 said 559, “Gather 6908 all 3605 Israel 3478 to Mizpah 4708 and I will pray 6419 to the LORD 3068 for you.”

 7:6 They gathered 6908 to Mizpah 4709, and drew 7579 water 4325 and poured 8210 it out before 6440 the LORD 3068, and fasted 6684 on that day 3117 and said 559 there 8033, “We have sinned 2398 against the LORD 3068.” And Samuel 8050 judged 8199 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 at Mizpah 4709.

 7:7 ¶ Now when the Philistines 6430 heard 8085 that the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 had gathered 6908 to Mizpah 4709, the lords 5633a of the Philistines 6430 went 5927 up against 413 Israel 3478. And when the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 heard 8085 it, they were afraid 3372a of the Philistines 6430.

 7:8 Then the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 said 559 to Samuel 8050, “Do not cease 2790b to cry 2199 to the LORD 3068 our God 430 for us, that He may save 3467 us from the hand 3027 of the Philistines 6430.”

 7:9 Samuel 8050 took 3947 a suckling 2461 lamb 2924 and offered 5927 it for a whole 3632 burnt 5930a offering 5930a to the LORD 3068; and Samuel 8050 cried 2199 to the LORD 3068 for Israel 3478 and the LORD 3068 answered 6030a him.

 7:10 Now Samuel 8050 was offering 5927 up the burnt 5930a offering 5930a, and the Philistines 6430 drew 5066 near 5066 to battle 4421 against Israel 3478. But the LORD 3068 thundered 7481 with a great 1419 thunder 6963 on that day 3117 against 5921 the Philistines 6430 and confused 2000 them, so that they were routed 5062 before 6440 Israel 3478.

 7:11 The men 376 of Israel 3478 went 3318 out of Mizpah 4709 and pursued 7291 the Philistines 6430, and struck 5221 them down 5221 as far 5704 as below 4480 8478 Beth-car 1033.

 7:12 ¶ Then Samuel 8050 took 3947 a stone 68 and set 7760 it between 996 Mizpah 4709 and Shen 8129, and named 7121 8034 it Ebenezer 72, saying 559, “Thus 2008 far 5704 the LORD 3068 has helped 5826 us.”

 7:13 So the Philistines 6430 were subdued 3665 and they did 3254 not come 935 anymore 5750 within the border 1366 of Israel 3478. And the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 was against the Philistines 6430 all 3605 the days 3117 of Samuel 8050.

 7:14 The cities 5892b which 834 the Philistines 6430 had taken 3947 from Israel 3478 were restored 7725 to Israel 3478, from Ekron 6138 even to Gath 1661; and Israel 3478 delivered 5337 their territory 1366 from the hand 3027 of the Philistines 6430. So there was peace 7965 between 996 Israel 3478 and the Amorites 567.

 7:15 ¶ Now Samuel 8050 judged 8199 Israel 3478 all 3605 the days 3117 of his life 2425b.

 7:16 He used to go 1980 annually 1767 8141 on circuit 5437 to Bethel 1008 and Gilgal 1537 and Mizpah 4709, and he judged 8199 Israel 3478 in all 3605 these 428 places 4725.

 7:17 Then his return 8666 [was] to Ramah 7414, for his house 1004 [was] there 8033, and there 8033 he judged 8199 Israel 3478; and he built 1129 there 8033 an altar 4196 to the LORD 3068.
