1 Samuel 27

1 Saul, hearing David to be in Gath, seeketh no more for him. 5 David beggeth Ziklag of Achish. 8 He, invading other countries, persuadeth Achish he fought against Judah.

 27:1 Then David 1732 said 559 to himself 3820, “Now 6258 I will perish 5595 one 259 day 3117 by the hand 3027 of Saul 7586. There 369 is nothing 369 better 2896a for me than 3588 to escape 4422 into the land 776 of the Philistines 6430. Saul 7586 then will despair 2976 of searching 1245 for me anymore 5750 in all 3605 the territory 1366 of Israel 3478, and I will escape 4422 from his hand 3027.”

 27:2 So David 1732 arose 6965 and crossed 5674a over 5674a, he and the six 8337a hundred 3967 men 376 who 834 were with him, to Achish 397 the son 1121 of Maoch 4582, king 4428 of Gath 1661.

 27:3 And David 1732 lived 3427 with Achish 397 at Gath 1661, he and his men 376, each 376 with his household 1004, [even] David 1732 with his two 8147 wives 802, Ahinoam 293 the Jezreelitess 3159, and Abigail 26 the Carmelitess 3761, Nabal’s 5037 widow 802.

 27:4 Now it was told 5046 Saul 7586 that David 1732 had fled 1272 to Gath 1661, so he no 3808 longer 3254 5750 searched 1245 for him.

 27:5 ¶ Then David 1732 said 559 to Achish 397, “If 518 now 4994 I have found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869, let them give 5414 me a place 4725 in one 259 of the cities 5892b in the country 7704, that I may live 3427 there 8033; for why 4100 should your servant 5650 live 3427 in the royal 4467 city 5892b with you?”

 27:6 So Achish 397 gave 5414 him Ziklag 6860 that day 3117; therefore 3651 Ziklag 6860 has 1961 belonged to the kings 4428 of Judah 3063 to this 2088 day 3117.

 27:7 The number 4557 of days 3117 that David 1732 lived 3427 in the country 7704 of the Philistines 6430 was a year 3117 and four 702 months 2320.

 27:8 ¶ Now David 1732 and his men 376 went 5927 up and raided 6584 the Geshurites 1651 and the Girzites 1629b and the Amalekites 6003; for they were the inhabitants 3427 of the land 776 from ancient 5769 times 5769, as you come 935 to Shur 7793 even as far 5704 as the land 776 of Egypt 4714.

 27:9 David 1732 attacked 5221 the land 776 and did not leave 2421a a man 376 or a woman 802 alive 2421a, and he took 3947 away the sheep 6629, the cattle 1241, the donkeys 2543, the camels 1581, and the clothing 899b. Then he returned 7725 and came 935 to Achish 397.

 27:10 Now Achish 397 said 559, “Where 575 have you made 6584 a raid 6584 today 3117?” And David 1732 said 559, “Against 5921 the Negev 5045 of Judah 3063 and against 5921 the Negev 5045 of the Jerahmeelites 3397 and against 413 the Negev 5045 of the Kenites 7017.”

 27:11 David 1732 did not leave 2421a a man 376 or a woman 802 alive 2421a to bring 935 to Gath 1661, saying 559, “Otherwise 6435 they will tell 5046 about 5921 us, saying 559, ‘So 3541 has David 1732 done 6213a and so 3541 [has been] his practice 4941 all 3605 the time 3117 he has lived 3427 in the country 7704 of the Philistines 6430.’”

 27:12 So Achish 397 believed 539 David 1732, saying 559, “He has surely 887 made 887 himself odious 887 among his people 5971a Israel 3478; therefore he will become 1961 my servant 5650 forever 5769.”
