1 Samuel 19

1 Jonathan discloseth his father's purpose to kill David. 4 He persuadeth his father to reconciliation. 8 By reason of David's good success in a new war, Saul's malicious rage breaketh out against him. 12 Michal deceiveth her father with an image in David's bed. 18 David cometh to Samuel in Naioth. 20 Saul's messengers sent to take David, 23 and Saul himself, prophesy.

 19:1 Now Saul 7586 told 1696 Jonathan 3083 his son 1121 and all 3605 his servants 5650 to put 4191 David 1732 to death 4191. But Jonathan 3083, Saul’s 7586 son 1121, greatly 3966 delighted 2654a in David 1732.

 19:2 So Jonathan 3083 told 5046 David 1732 saying 559, “Saul 7586 my father 1 is seeking 1245 to put 4191 you to death 4191. Now 6258 therefore, please 4994 be on guard 8104 in the morning 1242, and stay 3427 in a secret 5643a place 5643a and hide 2244 yourself.

 19:3 “I will go 3318 out and stand 5975 beside 3027 my father 1 in the field 7704 where 834 8033 you are, and I will speak 1696 with my father 1 about you; if I find 7200 out anything 4100, then I will tell 5046 you.”

 19:4 Then Jonathan 3083 spoke 1696 well 2896a of David 1732 to Saul 7586 his father 1 and said 559 to him, “Do not let the king 4428 sin 2398 against his servant 5650 David 1732, since 3588 he has not sinned 2398 against you, and since 3588 his deeds 4639 [have been] very 3966 beneficial 2896a to you.

 19:5 “For he took 7760 his life 5315 in his hand 3709 and struck 5221 the Philistine 6430, and the LORD 3068 brought 6213a about 6213a a great 1419 deliverance 8668 for all 3605 Israel 3478; you saw 7200 [it] and rejoiced 8055. Why 4100 then will you sin 2398 against innocent 5355a blood 1818 by putting 4191 David 1732 to death 4191 without 2600 a cause 2600?”

 19:6 Saul 7586 listened 8085 to the voice 6963 of Jonathan 3083, and Saul 7586 vowed 7650, “As the LORD 3068 lives 2416a, he shall not be put 4191 to death 4191.”

 19:7 Then Jonathan 3083 called 7121 David 1732, and Jonathan 3083 told 5046 him all 3605 these 428 words 1697. And Jonathan 3083 brought 935 David 1732 to Saul 7586, and he was in his presence 6440 as formerly 8032a 865a.

 19:8 ¶ When there was war 4421 again 3254, David 1732 went 3318 out and fought 3898a with the Philistines 6430 and defeated 5221 them with great 1419 slaughter 4347, so that they fled 5127 before 4480 6440 him.

 19:9 Now there was an evil 7451a spirit 7307 from the LORD 3068 on Saul 7586 as he was sitting 3427 in his house 1004 with his spear 2595 in his hand 3027, and David 1732 was playing 5059 [the harp] with [his] hand 3027.

 19:10 Saul 7586 tried 1245 to pin 5221 David 1732 to the wall 7023 with the spear 2595, but he slipped 6362 away 6362 out of Saul’s 7586 presence 6440, so that he stuck 5221 the spear 2595 into the wall 7023. And David 1732 fled 5127 and escaped 4422 that night 3915.

 19:11 ¶ Then Saul 7586 sent 7971 messengers 4397 to David’s 1732 house 1004 to watch 8104 him, in order to put 4191 him to death 4191 in the morning 1242. But Michal 4324, David’s 1732 wife 802, told 5046 him, saying 559, “If 518 you do not save 4422 your life 5315 tonight 3915, tomorrow 4279 you will be put 4191 to death 4191.”

 19:12 So Michal 4324 let 3381 David 1732 down 3381 through 1157 a window 2474, and he went 1980 out and fled 1272 and escaped 4422.

 19:13 Michal 4324 took 3947 the household 8655 idol 8655 and laid 7760 [it] on the bed 4296, and put 7760 a quilt 3523 of goats’ 5795 [hair] at its head 4763, and covered 3680 [it] with clothes 899b.

 19:14 When Saul 7586 sent 7971 messengers 4397 to take 3947 David 1732, she said 559, “He is sick 2470a.”

 19:15 Then Saul 7586 sent 7971 messengers 4397 to see 7200 David 1732, saying 559, “Bring 5927 him up to me on his bed 4296, that I may put 4191 him to death 4191.”

 19:16 When the messengers 4397 entered 935, behold 2009, the household 8655 idol 8655 [was] on the bed 4296 with the quilt 3523 of goats’ 5795 [hair] at its head 4763.

 19:17 So Saul 7586 said 559 to Michal 4324, “Why 4100 have you deceived 7411b me like 3602 this 3602 and let 7971 my enemy 340 go 7971, so that he has escaped 4422?” And Michal 4324 said 559 to Saul 7586, “He said 559 to me, ‘Let 7971 me go 7971! Why 4100 should I put 4191 you to death 4191?’”

 19:18 ¶ Now David 1732 fled 1272 and escaped 4422 and came 935 to Samuel 8050 at Ramah 7414, and told 5046 him all 3605 that Saul 7586 had done 6213a to him. And he and Samuel 8050 went 1980 and stayed 3427 in Naioth 5121.

 19:19 It was told 5046 Saul 7586, saying 559, “Behold 2009, David 1732 is at Naioth 5121 in Ramah 7414.”

 19:20 Then Saul 7586 sent 7971 messengers 4397 to take 3947 David 1732, but when they saw 7200 the company 3862 of the prophets 5030 prophesying 5012, with Samuel 8050 standing 5975 [and] presiding 5324 over 5921 them, the Spirit 7307 of God 430 came 1961 upon the messengers 4397 of Saul 7586; and they also 1571 prophesied 5012.

 19:21 When it was told 5046 Saul 7586, he sent 7971 other 312 messengers 4397, and they also 1571 prophesied 5012. So Saul 7586 sent 7971 messengers 4397 again 3254 the third 7992 time 7992, and they also 1571 prophesied 5012.

 19:22 Then he himself 1931 went 1980 to Ramah 7414 and came 935 as far 5704 as the large 1419 well 953a that is in Secu 7906; and he asked 7592 and said 559, “Where 375 are Samuel 8050 and David 1732?” And [someone] said 559, “Behold 2009, they are at Naioth 5121 in Ramah 7414.”

 19:23 He proceeded 1980 there 8033 to Naioth 5121 in Ramah 7414; and the Spirit 7307 of God 430 came 1961 upon him also 1571, so that he went 1980 along prophesying 5012 continually 1980 until 5704 he came 935 to Naioth 5121 in Ramah 7414.

 19:24 He also 1571 stripped 6584 off 6584 his clothes 899b, and he too 1571 prophesied 5012 before 6440 Samuel 8050 and lay 5307 down 5307 naked 6174 all 3605 that day 3117 and all 3605 that night 3915. Therefore 5921 3651 they say 559, “Is Saul 7586 also 1571 among the prophets 5030?”
