1 Samuel 15

1 Samuel sendeth Saul to destroy Amalek. 6 Saul favoureth the Kenites. 8 He spareth Agag and the best of the spoil. 10 Samuel denounceth unto Saul, commending and excusing himself, God's rejection of him for his disobedience. 24 Saul's humiliation. 32 Samuel killeth Agag. 34 Samuel and Saul part.

 15:1 Then Samuel 8050 said 559 to Saul 7586, “The LORD 3068 sent 7971 me to anoint 4886 you as king 4428 over 5921 His people 5971a, over 5921 Israel 3478; now 6258 therefore, listen 8085 to the words 1697 of the LORD 3068.

 15:2 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘I will punish 6485 Amalek 6002 [for] what 834 he did 6213a to Israel 3478, how 834 he set 7760 himself against him on the way 1870 while he was coming 5927 up from Egypt 4714.

 15:3 ‘Now 6258 go 1980 and strike 5221 Amalek 6002 and utterly 2763a destroy 2763a all 3605 that he has, and do not spare 2550 him; but put 4191 to death 4191 both 4480 man 376 and woman 802, child 5768 and infant 3243, ox 7794 and sheep 7716, camel 1581 and donkey 2543.’”

 15:4 ¶ Then Saul 7586 summoned 8085 the people 5971a and numbered 6485 them in Telaim 2923, 200,000 3967 505 foot 7273 soldiers 7273 and 10,000 6235 505 men 376 of Judah 3063.

 15:5 Saul 7586 came 935 to the city 5892b of Amalek 6002 and set 693 an ambush 693 in the valley 5158a.

 15:6 Saul 7586 said 559 to the Kenites 7017, “Go 1980, depart 5493, go 3381 down 3381 from among 8432 the Amalekites 6003, so that I do not destroy 622 you with them; for you showed 6213a kindness 2617a to all 3605 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 when they came 5927 up from Egypt 4714.” So the Kenites 7017 departed 5493 from among 8432 the Amalekites 6002.

 15:7 So Saul 7586 defeated 5221 the Amalekites 6002, from Havilah 2341 as you go 935 to Shur 7793, which 834 is east 5921 6440 of Egypt 4714.

 15:8 He captured 8610 Agag 90 the king 4428 of the Amalekites 6002 alive 2416a, and utterly 2763a destroyed 2763a all 3605 the people 5971a with the edge 6310 of the sword 2719.

 15:9 But Saul 7586 and the people 5971a spared 2550 Agag 90 and the best 4315 of the sheep 6629, the oxen 1241, the fatlings 4932, the lambs 3733c, and all 3605 that was good 2896b, and were not willing 14 to destroy 2763a them utterly 2763a; but everything 3605 4399 despised 959 and worthless 4549, that they utterly 2763a destroyed 2763a.

 15:10 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Samuel 8050, saying 559,

 15:11 “I regret 5162 that I have made 4427a Saul 7586 king 4428, for he has turned 7725 back 7725 from following 310 Me and has not carried 6965 out My commands 1697.” And Samuel 8050 was distressed 2734 and cried 2199 out to the LORD 3068 all 3605 night 3915.

 15:12 Samuel 8050 rose 7925 early 7925 in the morning 1242 to meet 7122 Saul 7586; and it was told 5046 Samuel 8050, saying 559, “Saul 7586 came 935 to Carmel 3760, and behold 2009, he set 5324 up a monument 3027 for himself, then turned 5437 and proceeded 5674a on down 3381 to Gilgal 1537.”

 15:13 Samuel 8050 came 935 to Saul 7586, and Saul 7586 said 559 to him, “Blessed 1288 are you of the LORD 3068! I have carried 6965 out the command 1697 of the LORD 3068.”

 15:14 But Samuel 8050 said 559, “What 4100 then is this 2088 bleating 6963 of the sheep 6629 in my ears 241, and the lowing 6963 of the oxen 1241 which 834 I hear 8085?”

 15:15 Saul 7586 said 559, “They have brought 935 them from the Amalekites 6003, for the people 5971a spared 2550 the best 4315 of the sheep 6629 and oxen 1241, to sacrifice 2076 to the LORD 3068 your God 430; but the rest 3498 we have utterly 2763a destroyed 2763a.”

 15:16 Then Samuel 8050 said 559 to Saul 7586, “Wait 7503, and let me tell 5046 you what 834 the LORD 3068 said 1696 to me last night 3915.” And he said 559 to him, “Speak 1696!”

 15:17 ¶ Samuel 8050 said 559, “Is it not true, though 518 you were little 6996b in your own eyes 5869, you were [made] the head 7218 of the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478? And the LORD 3068 anointed 4886 you king 4428 over 5921 Israel 3478,

 15:18 and the LORD 3068 sent 7971 you on a mission 1870, and said 559, ‘Go 1980 and utterly 2763a destroy 2763a the sinners 2400, the Amalekites 6002, and fight 3898a against them until 5704 they are exterminated 3615.’

 15:19 “Why 4100 then did you not obey 8085 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068, but rushed 5860b upon the spoil 7998 and did 6213a what 7451a was evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068?”

 15:20 ¶ Then Saul 7586 said 559 to Samuel 8050, “I did obey 8085 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068, and went 1980 on the mission 1870 on which 834 the LORD 3068 sent 7971 me, and have brought 935 back Agag 90 the king 4428 of Amalek 6002, and have utterly 2763a destroyed 2763a the Amalekites 6002.

 15:21 “But the people 5971a took 3947 [some] of the spoil 7998, sheep 6629 and oxen 1241, the choicest 7225 of the things 2764a devoted 2764a to destruction 2764a, to sacrifice 2076 to the LORD 3068 your God 430 at Gilgal 1537.”

 15:22 Samuel 8050 said 559, “Has the LORD 3068 as much delight 2656 in burnt 5930a offerings 5930a and sacrifices 2077 As in obeying 8085 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068? Behold 2009, to obey 8085 is better 2896a than 4480 sacrifice 2077, [And] to heed 7181 than 4480 the fat 2459 of rams 352a.

 15:23 “For rebellion 4805 is as the sin 2403b of divination 7081, And insubordination 6484 is as iniquity 205 and idolatry 8655. Because 3282 you have rejected 3988a the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, He has also rejected 3988a you from [being] king 4428.”

 15:24 ¶ Then Saul 7586 said 559 to Samuel 8050, “I have sinned 2398; I have indeed 3588 transgressed 5674a the command 6310 of the LORD 3068 and your words 1697, because 3588 I feared 3372a the people 5971a and listened 8085 to their voice 6963.

 15:25 “Now 6258 therefore, please 4994 pardon 5545 my sin 2403b and return 7725 with me, that I may worship 7812 the LORD 3068.”

 15:26 But Samuel 8050 said 559 to Saul 7586, “I will not return 7725 with you; for you have rejected 3988a the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, and the LORD 3068 has rejected 3988a you from being 1961 king 4428 over 5921 Israel 3478.”

 15:27 As Samuel 8050 turned 5437 to go 1980, [Saul] seized 2388 the edge 3671 of his robe 4598, and it tore 7167.

 15:28 So Samuel 8050 said 559 to him, “The LORD 3068 has torn 7167 the kingdom 4468 of Israel 3478 from you today 3117 and has given 5414 it to your neighbor 7453, who is better 2896a than 4480 you.

 15:29 “Also 1571 the Glory 5331 of Israel 3478 will not lie 8266 or change 5162 His mind 5162; for He is not a man 120 that He should change 5162 His mind 5162.”

 15:30 Then he said 559, “I have sinned 2398; [but] please 4994 honor 3513 me now 6258 before 5048 the elders 2205 of my people 5971a and before 5048 Israel 3478, and go 7725 back 7725 with me, that I may worship 7812 the LORD 3068 your God 430.”

 15:31 So Samuel 8050 went 7725 back 7725 following 310 Saul 7586, and Saul 7586 worshiped 7812 the LORD 3068.

 15:32 ¶ Then Samuel 8050 said 559, “Bring 5066 me Agag 90, the king 4428 of the Amalekites 6002.” And Agag 90 came 1980 to him cheerfully 4575b. And Agag 90 said 559, “Surely 403 the bitterness 4751 of death 4194 is past 5493.”

 15:33 But Samuel 8050 said 559, “As your sword 2719 has made 7921 women 802 childless 7921, so 3651 shall your mother 517 be childless 7921 among 4480 women 802.” And Samuel 8050 hewed 8158 Agag 90 to pieces 8158 before 6440 the LORD 3068 at Gilgal 1537.

 15:34 ¶ Then Samuel 8050 went 1980 to Ramah 7414, but Saul 7586 went 5927 up to his house 1004 at Gibeah 1390 of Saul 7586.

 15:35 Samuel 8050 did 3254 not see 7200 Saul 7586 again 3254 until 5704 the day 3117 of his death 4194; for Samuel 8050 grieved 56 over 413 Saul 7586. And the LORD 3068 regretted 5162 that He had made 4427a Saul 7586 king 4427a over 5921 Israel 3478.
