1 Samuel 5

1 The Philistines having brought the Ark into Ashdod set it in the house of Dagon. 3 Dagon is smitten down and cut in pieces, and they of Ashdod smitten with emerods. 8 So God dealeth with them of Gath, when it was brought thither: 10 and so with them of Ekron, when it was brought thither.

 5:1 Now the Philistines 6430 took 3947 the ark 727 of God 430 and brought 935 it from Ebenezer 72 to Ashdod 795.

 5:2 Then the Philistines 6430 took 3947 the ark 727 of God 430 and brought 935 it to the house 1004 of Dagon 1712 and set 3322 it by Dagon 1712.

 5:3 When the Ashdodites 796 arose 7925 early 7925 the next 4283 morning 4283, behold 2009, Dagon 1712 had fallen 5307 on his face 6440 to the ground 776 before 6440 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068. So they took 3947 Dagon 1712 and set 7725 him in his place 4725 again 7725.

 5:4 But when they arose 7925 early 7925 the next 4283 morning 1242, behold 2009, Dagon 1712 had fallen 5307 on his face 6440 to the ground 776 before 6440 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068. And the head 7218 of Dagon 1712 and both 8147 the palms 3709 of his hands 3027 [were] cut 3772 off 3772 on the threshold 4670; only 7534 the trunk of Dagon 1712 was left 7604 to him.

 5:5 Therefore 5921 3651 neither 3808 the priests 3548 of Dagon 1712 nor 3808 all 3605 who enter 935 Dagon’s 1712 house 1004 tread 1869 on the threshold 4670 of Dagon 1712 in Ashdod 795 to this 2088 day 3117.

 5:6 ¶ Now the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 was heavy 3513 on the Ashdodites 796, and He ravaged 8074 them and smote 5221 them with tumors 6076b, both Ashdod 795 and its territories 1366.

 5:7 When the men 376 of Ashdod 795 saw 7200 that it was so 3651, they said 559, “The ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478 must not remain 3427 with us, for His hand 3027 is severe 7185 on us and on Dagon 1712 our god 430.”

 5:8 So they sent 7971 and gathered 622 all 3605 the lords 5633a of the Philistines 6430 to them and said 559, “What 4100 shall we do 6213a with the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478?” And they said 559, “Let the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478 be brought 5437 around 5437 to Gath 1661.” And they brought 5437 the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478 [around].

 5:9 After 310 they had brought 5437 it around 5437, the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 was against the city 5892b with very 3966 great 1419 confusion 4103; and He smote 5221 the men 376 of the city 5892b, both 4480 young 6996b and old 1419, so that tumors 6076b broke 8368 out on them.

 5:10 So they sent 7971 the ark 727 of God 430 to Ekron 6138. And as the ark 727 of God 430 came 935 to Ekron 6138 the Ekronites 6139 cried 2199 out, saying 559, “They have brought 5437 the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478 around 5437 to us, to kill 4191 us and our people 5971a.”

 5:11 They sent 7971 therefore and gathered 622 all 3605 the lords 5633a of the Philistines 6430 and said 559, “Send 7971 away 7971 the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel 3478, and let it return 7725 to its own place 4725, so 3808 that it will not kill 4191 us and our people 5971a.” For there was a deadly 4194 confusion 4103 throughout 3605 the city 5892b; the hand 3027 of God 430 was very 3966 heavy 3513 there 8033.

 5:12 And the men 376 who 834 did not die 4191 were smitten 5221 with tumors 6076b and the cry 7775 of the city 5892b went 5927 up to heaven 8064.
