Jeremiah 46

1 Jeremiah prophesieth the overthrow of Pharaoh's army at Euphrates, 13 and the conquest of Egypt by Nebuchadrezzar. 27 He comforteth Jacob in their chastisement.

 46:1 That which 834 came 1961 as the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 to Jeremiah 3414 the prophet 5030 concerning 5921 the nations 1471.

 46:3 “Line 6186a up the shield 4043 and buckler 6793c, And draw 5066 near 5066 for the battle 4421!

 46:4 “Harness 631 the horses 5483b, And mount 5927 the steeds 6571a, And take 3320 your stand 3320 with helmets 3553 [on]! Polish 4838 the spears 7420, Put 3847 on the scale-armor 5630!

 46:5 “Why 4069 have I seen 7200 [it]? They are terrified 2844b, They are drawing 5472 back 268, And their mighty 1368 men 1368 are defeated 3807 And have taken 5127 refuge 5127 in flight 4498, Without 3808 facing 6437 back 6437; Terror 4032 is on every 5439 side 5439!” Declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 46:6 Let not the swift 7031 man 7031 flee 5127, Nor 408 the mighty 1368 man 1368 escape 4422; In the north 6828 beside 5921 3027 the river 5104 Euphrates 6578 They have stumbled 3782 and fallen 5307.

 46:7 Who 4310 is this 2088 that rises 5927 like the Nile 2975, Like the rivers 5104 whose waters 4325 surge 1607 about?

 46:8 Egypt 4714 rises 5927 like the Nile 2975, Even like the rivers 5104 whose waters 4325 surge 1607 about; And He has said 559, “I will rise 5927 and cover 3680 [that] land 776; I will surely destroy 6 the city 5892b and its inhabitants 3427.”

 46:9 Go 5927 up, you horses 5483b, and drive 1984b madly 1984b, you chariots 7393, That the mighty 1368 men 1368 may march 3318 forward 3318: Ethiopia 3568a and Put 6316, that handle 8610 the shield 4043, And the Lydians 3866, that handle 8610 [and] bend 1869 the bow 7198.

 46:11 Go 5927 up to Gilead 1568 and obtain 3947 balm 6875, O virgin 1330 daughter 1323 of Egypt 4714! In vain 7723 have you multiplied 7235a remedies 7499; There 369 is no 369 healing 8585b for you.

 46:12 The nations 1471 have heard 8085 of your shame 7036, And the earth 776 is full 4390 of your cry 6682 [of distress]; For one warrior 1368 has stumbled 3782 over another 1368, And both 8147 of them have fallen 5307 down 5307 together 3164a.

 46:13 ¶ [This is] the message 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Jeremiah 3414 the prophet 5030 about the coming 935 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894 to smite 5221 the land 776 of Egypt 4714:

 46:14 “Declare 5046 in Egypt 4714 and proclaim 8085 in Migdol 4024, Proclaim 8085 also in Memphis 5297 and Tahpanhes 8471; Say 559, ‘Take 3320 your stand 3320 and get 3559 yourself ready 3559, For the sword 2719 has devoured 398 those around 5439 you.’

 46:16 “They have repeatedly 7235a stumbled 3782; Indeed 1571, they have fallen 5307 one 376 against 413 another 7453. Then they said 559, ‘Get 6965 up! And let us go 7725 back 7725 To our own people 5971a and our native 4138 land 776 Away from the sword 2719 of the oppressor 3238.’

 46:17 “They cried 7121 there 8033, ‘Pharaoh 6547 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 [is but] a big 7588 noise 7588; He has let the appointed 4150 time 4150 pass 5674a by!’

 46:18 “As I live 2416a,” declares 5002 the King 4428 Whose name 8034 is the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, “Surely 3588 one shall come 935 [who looms up] like Tabor 8396 among the mountains 2022, Or like Carmel 3760 by the sea 3220.

 46:19 “Make 6213a your baggage 3627 ready 6213a for exile 1473, O daughter 1323 dwelling 3427 in Egypt 4714, For Memphis 5297 will become 1961 a desolation 8047; It will even be burned 3341 down 3341 [and] bereft 4480 369 of inhabitants 3427.

 46:20 “Egypt 4714 is a pretty 3304 heifer 5697, [But] a horsefly 7171 is coming 935 from the north 6828—it is coming 935!

 46:21 “Also 1571 her mercenaries 7917a in her midst 7130 Are like fattened 4770 calves 5695, For even 1571 they too 1571 have turned 6437 back 6437 [and] have fled 5127 away together 3164a; They did not stand 5975 [their ground]. For the day 3117 of their calamity 343 has come 935 upon them, The time 6256 of their punishment 6486.

 46:22 “Its sound 6963 moves 1980 along like a serpent 5175; For they move 1980 on like an army 2428 And come 935 to her as woodcutters 2404 with axes 7134.

 46:23 “They have cut 3772 down 3772 her forest 3293a,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068; “Surely 3588 it will no 3808 [more] be found 2713, Even though 3588 they are [now] more 4480 numerous 7231 than 4480 locusts 697 And are without 369 number 4557.

 46:24 “The daughter 1323 of Egypt 4714 has been 954 put 954 to shame 954, Given 5414 over to the power 3027 of the people 5971a of the north 6828.”

 46:25 ¶ The LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, says 559, “Behold 2009, I am going to punish 6485 Amon 528 of Thebes 4996, and Pharaoh 6547, and Egypt 4714 along with her gods 430 and her kings 4428, even Pharaoh 6547 and those who trust 982 in him.

 46:26 “I shall give 5414 them over to the power 3027 of those who are seeking 1245 their lives 5315, even into the hand 3027 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894 and into the hand 3027 of his officers 5650. Afterwards 310 3651, however, it will be inhabited 7931 as in the days 3117 of old 6924a,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 46:27 ¶ “But as for you, O Jacob 3290 My servant 5650, do not fear 3372a, Nor 408 be dismayed 2865, O Israel 3478! For, see 2009, I am going to save 3467 you from afar 7350, And your descendants 2233 from the land 776 of their captivity 7628b; And Jacob 3290 will return 7725 and be undisturbed 8252 And secure 7599, with no 369 one 369 making [him] tremble 2729.

 46:28 “O Jacob 3290 My servant 5650, do not fear 3372a,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “For I am with you. For I will make 6213a a full 3617 end 3617 of all 3605 the nations 1471 Where 834 8033 I have driven 5080 you, Yet I will not make 6213a a full 3617 end 3617 of you; But I will correct 3256 you properly 4941 And by no 3808 means 5352 leave 5352 you unpunished 5352.”
