Jeremiah 12

1 Jeremiah, complaining of the wicked's prosperity, by faith seeth their ruin. 5 God admonisheth him of his brethren's treachery against him, 7 and lamenteth his heritage. 14 He promiseth to the penitent return from captivity.

 12:1 Righteous 6662 are You, O LORD 3068, that I would plead 7378 [my] case 7378 with You; Indeed 389 I would discuss 1696 matters 4941 of justice 4941 with You: Why 4069 has the way 1870 of the wicked 7563 prospered 6743b? [Why] are all 3605 those who deal 898 in treachery 899a at ease 7951?

 12:2 You have planted 5193 them, they have also 1571 taken 8327 root 8327; They grow 1980, they have even 1571 produced 6213a fruit 6529. You are near 7138 to their lips 6310 But far 7350 from their mind 3629.

 12:3 But You know 3045 me, O LORD 3068; You see 7200 me; And You examine 974 my heart’s 3820 [attitude] toward 854 You. Drag 5423 them off 5423 like sheep 6629 for the slaughter 2878 And set 6942 them apart 6942 for a day 3117 of carnage 2028!

 12:4 How 4970 long 5704 4970 is the land 776 to mourn 56 And the vegetation 6212a of the countryside 3605 7704 to wither 3001? For the wickedness 7463a of those who dwell 3427 in it, Animals 929 and birds 5775 have been snatched 5595 away 5595, Because 3588 [men] have said 559, “He will not see 7200 our latter 319 ending 319.”

 12:5 ¶ “If 3588 you have run 7323 with footmen 7273 and they have tired 3811 you out, Then how 349 can you compete 2734 with horses 5483b? If you fall 982 down 982 in a land 776 of peace 7965, How 349 will you do 6213a in the thicket 1347b of the Jordan 3383?

 12:6 “For even 1571 your brothers 251 and the household 1004 of your father 1, Even 1571 they have dealt 898 treacherously 898 with you, Even 1571 they have cried 7121 aloud 4392 after 310 you. Do not believe 539 them, although 3588 they may say 1696 nice 2899b things 2899b to you.”

 12:7 ¶ “I have forsaken 5800a My house 1004, I have abandoned 5203 My inheritance 5159; I have given 5414 the beloved 3033 of My soul 5315 Into the hand 3709 of her enemies 340.

 12:8 “My inheritance 5159 has become 1961 to Me Like a lion 743b in the forest 3293a; She has roared 5414 6963 against 5921 Me; Therefore 5921 3651 I have come to hate 8130 her.

 12:9 “Is My inheritance 5159 like a speckled 6641 bird 5861 of prey 5861 to Me? Are the birds 5861 of prey 5861 against 5921 her on every 5439 side 5439? Go 1980, gather 622 all 3605 the beasts 2421b of the field 7704, Bring 857 them to devour 398!

 12:10 “Many 7227a shepherds 7462a have ruined 7843 My vineyard 3754, They have trampled 947 down 947 My field 2513a; They have made 5414 My pleasant 2532 field 2513a A desolate 8077 wilderness 4057b.

 12:11 “It has been made 7760 a desolation 8077, Desolate 8076, it mourns 56 before 5921 Me; The whole 3605 land 776 has been made 8074 desolate 8074, Because 3588 no 369 man 376 lays 7760 it to heart 3820.

 12:12 “On all 3605 the bare 8205 heights 8205 in the wilderness 4057b Destroyers 7703 have come 935, For a sword 2719 of the LORD 3068 is devouring 398 From one end 7097a of the land 776 even to the other 7097a 776; There 369 is no 369 peace 7965 for anyone 3605 1320.

 12:13 “They have sown 2232 wheat 2406 and have reaped 7114b thorns 6975, They have strained 2470a themselves to no 3808 profit 3276. But be ashamed 954 of your harvest 8393 Because 4480 of the fierce 2740 anger 639 of the LORD 3068.”

 12:14 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 concerning 5921 all 3605 My wicked 7451a neighbors 7934 who strike 5060 at the inheritance 5159 with which 834 I have endowed 5157 My people 5971a Israel 3478, “Behold 2009 I am about to uproot 5428 them from their land 127 and will uproot 5428 the house 1004 of Judah 3063 from among 8432 them.

 12:15 “And it will come 1961 about that after 310 I have uprooted 5428 them, I will again 7725 have 7355 compassion 7355 on them; and I will bring 7725 them back 7725, each 376 one 376 to his inheritance 5159 and each 376 one 376 to his land 776.

 12:16 “Then if 518 they will really 3925 learn 3925 the ways 1870 of My people 5971a, to swear 7650 by My name 8034, ‘As the LORD 3068 lives 2416a,’ even 3512c as they taught 3925 My people 5971a to swear 7650 by Baal 1168a, they will be built 1129 up in the midst 8432 of My people 5971a.

 12:17 “But if 518 they will not listen 8085, then I will uproot 5428 that nation 1471, uproot 5428 and destroy 6 it,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.
