Jeremiah 44

1 Jeremiah expresseth the desolation of Judah for their idolatry. 11 He prophesieth their destruction, who commit idolatry in Egypt. 15 The obstinacy of the Jews. 20 Jeremiah threateneth them for the same, 29 and for a sign prophesieth the destruction of Egypt.

 44:1 The word 1697 that came 1961 to Jeremiah 3414 for all 3605 the Jews 3064 living 3427 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, those who were living 3427 in Migdol 4024, Tahpanhes 8471, Memphis 5297, and the land 776 of Pathros 6624, saying 559,

 44:2 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, ‘You yourselves 864b have seen 7200 all 3605 the calamity 7463a that I have brought 935 on Jerusalem 3389 and all 3605 the cities 5892b of Judah 3063; and behold 2009, this 2088 day 3117 they are in ruins 2723 and no 369 one 369 lives 3427 in them,

 44:3 because 4480 6440 of their wickedness 7463a which 834 they committed 6213a so as to provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707 by continuing 1980 to burn 6999 sacrifices 6999 [and] to serve 5647 other 312 gods 430 whom 834 they had not known 3045, [neither] they, you, nor 3808 your fathers 1.

 44:4 ‘Yet I sent 7971 you all 3605 My servants 5650 the prophets 5030, again 7925 and again 7971, saying 559, “Oh 4994, do not do 6213a this 384 abominable 8441 thing 1697 which 834 I hate 8130.”

 44:5 ‘But they did not listen 8085 or incline 5186 their ears 241 to turn 7725 from their wickedness 7463a, so as not to burn 6999 sacrifices 6999 to other 312 gods 430.

 44:6 ‘Therefore My wrath 2534 and My anger 639 were poured 5413 out and burned 1197a in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and in the streets 2351 of Jerusalem 3389, so they have 1961 become 1961 a ruin 2723 and a desolation 8077 as it is this 2088 day 3117.

 44:7 ‘Now 6258 then thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 God 430 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, “Why 4100 are you doing 6213a great 1419 harm 7463a to yourselves 5315, so as to cut 3772 off 3772 from you man 376 and woman 802, child 5768 and infant 3243, from among 8432 Judah 3063, leaving 3498 yourselves without 1115 remnant 7611,

 44:8 provoking 3707 Me to anger 3707 with the works 4639 of your hands 3027, burning 6999 sacrifices 6999 to other 312 gods 430 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, where 834 8033 you are entering 935 to reside 1481a, so 4616 that you might be cut 3772 off 3772 and become 1961 a curse 7045 and a reproach 2781 among all 3605 the nations 1471 of the earth 776?

 44:9 “Have you forgotten 7911 the wickedness 7463a of your fathers 1, the wickedness 7463a of the kings 4428 of Judah 3063, and the wickedness 7463a of their wives 802, your own wickedness 7463a, and the wickedness 7463a of your wives 802, which 834 they committed 6213a in the land 776 of Judah 3063 and in the streets 2351 of Jerusalem 3389?

 44:10 “But they have not become 1792 contrite 1792 even to this 2088 day 3117, nor 3808 have they feared 3372a nor 3808 walked 1980 in My law 8451 or My statutes 2708, which 834 I have set 5414 before 6440 you and before 6440 your fathers 1.”’

 44:11 ¶ “Therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, ‘Behold 2009, I am going to set 7760 My face 6440 against you for woe 7463a, even to cut 3772 off 3772 all 3605 Judah 3063.

 44:12 ‘And I will take 3947 away the remnant 7611 of Judah 3063 who 834 have set 7760 their mind 6440 on entering 935 the land 776 of Egypt 4714 to reside 1481a there 8033, and they will all 3605 meet 8552 their end 8552 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714; they will fall 5307 by the sword 2719 [and] meet 8552 their end 8552 by famine 7458. Both 4480 small 6996b and great 1419 will die 4191 by the sword 2719 and famine 7458; and they will become 1961 a curse 7045, an object 8047 of horror 8047, an imprecation 7045 and a reproach 2781.

 44:13 ‘And I will punish 6485 those who live 3427 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, as I have punished 6485 Jerusalem 3389, with the sword 2719, with famine 7458 and with pestilence 1698.

 44:14 ‘So there will be no 3808 refugees 6412a or survivors 8300 for the remnant 7611 of Judah 3063 who have entered 935 the land 776 of Egypt 4714 to reside 1481a there 8033 and then to return 7725 to the land 776 of Judah 3063, to which 834 they are longing 5375 5315 to return 7725 and live 3427; for none 3808 will return 7725 except 3588 518 [a few] refugees 6412b.’”

 44:15 ¶ Then all 3605 the men 376 who were aware 3045 that their wives 802 were burning 6999 sacrifices 6999 to other 312 gods 430, along with all 3605 the women 802 who were standing 5975 by, [as] a large 1419 assembly 6951, including all 3605 the people 5971a who were living 3427 in Pathros 6624 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, responded 6030a to Jeremiah 3414, saying 559,

 44:16 “As for the message 1697 that you have spoken 1696 to us in the name 8034 of the LORD 3068, we are not going to listen 8085 to you!

 44:17 “But rather 3588 518 we will certainly 6213a carry 6213a out every 3605 word 1697 that has proceeded 3318 from our mouths 6310, by burning 6999 sacrifices 6999 to the queen 4446 of heaven 8064 and pouring 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to her, just 3512c as we ourselves 587, our forefathers 1, our kings 4428 and our princes 8269 did 6213a in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and in the streets 2351 of Jerusalem 3389; for [then] we had plenty 7646 of food 3899 and were well 2896a off 2896a and saw 7200 no 3808 misfortune 7463a.

 44:18 “But since 4480 227 we stopped 2308 burning 6999 sacrifices 6999 to the queen 4446 of heaven 8064 and pouring 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to her, we have lacked 2637 everything 3605 and have met 8552 our end 8552 by the sword 2719 and by famine 7458.”

 44:19 “And,” [said the women], “when 3588 we were burning 6999 sacrifices 6999 to the queen 4446 of heaven 8064 and were pouring 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to her, was it without 4480 1107 our husbands 376 that we made 6213a for her [sacrificial] cakes 3561 in her image 6087b and poured 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to her?”

 44:20 ¶ Then Jeremiah 3414 said 559 to all 3605 the people 5971a, to the men 1397 and women 802—even to all 3605 the people 5971a who were giving 6030a him [such] an answer 1697—saying 559,

 44:21 “As for the smoking 7002 sacrifices 7002 that you burned 6999 in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and in the streets 2351 of Jerusalem 3389, you and your forefathers 1, your kings 4428 and your princes 8269, and the people 5971a of the land 776, did not the LORD 3068 remember 2142 them and did not [all this] come 5927 into His mind 3820?

 44:22 “So the LORD 3068 was no 3808 longer 5750 able 3201 to endure 5375 [it], because 4480 6440 of the evil 7455 of your deeds 4611, because 4480 6440 of the abominations 8441 which 834 you have committed 6213a; thus your land 776 has become 1961 a ruin 2723, an object 8047 of horror 8047 and a curse 7045, without 369 an inhabitant 3427, as [it is] this 2088 day 3117.

 44:23 “Because 4480 6440 you have burned 6999 sacrifices 6999 and have sinned 2398 against the LORD 3068 and not obeyed 8085 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068 or walked 1980 in His law 8451, His statutes 2708 or His testimonies 5715, therefore 5921 3651 this 384 calamity 7463a has befallen 7122 you, as [it has] this 2088 day 3117.”

 44:24 ¶ Then Jeremiah 3414 said 559 to all 3605 the people 5971a, including all 3605 the women 802, “Hear 8085 the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, all 3605 Judah 3063 who 834 are in the land 776 of Egypt 4714,

 44:25 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, as follows 559: ‘As for you and your wives 802, you have spoken 1696 with your mouths 6310 and fulfilled 4390 [it] with your hands 3027, saying 559, “We will certainly 6213a perform 6213a our vows 5088 that we have vowed 5087, to burn 6999 sacrifices 6999 to the queen 4446 of heaven 8064 and pour 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to her.” Go 6965 ahead 6965 and confirm 6965 your vows 5088, and certainly 6213a perform 6213a your vows 5088!’

 44:26 “Nevertheless 3651 hear 8085 the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, all 3605 Judah 3063 who are living 3427 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, ‘Behold 2009, I have sworn 7650 by My great 1419 name 8034,’ says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘never 518 shall My name 8034 be invoked 2142 again 5750 by the mouth 6310 of any 3605 man 376 of Judah 3063 in all 3605 the land 776 of Egypt 4714, saying 559, “As the Lord 136 GOD 3068 lives 2416a.”

 44:27 ‘Behold 2009, I am watching 8245 over 5921 them for harm 7463a and not for good 2899b, and all 3605 the men 376 of Judah 3063 who 834 are in the land 776 of Egypt 4714 will meet 8552 their end 8552 by the sword 2719 and by famine 7458 until 5704 they are completely 3615 gone 3615.

 44:28 ‘Those who 6412a escape 6412a the sword 2719 will return 7725 out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714 to the land 776 of Judah 3063 few 4962 in number 4557. Then all 3605 the remnant 7611 of Judah 3063 who have gone 935 to the land 776 of Egypt 4714 to reside 1481a there 8033 will know 3045 whose 4310 word 1697 will stand 6965, Mine 4480 or theirs 4480 1992a.

 44:29 ‘This 2088 will be the sign 226 to you,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘that I am going to punish 6485 you in this 2088 place 4725, so 4616 that you may know 3045 that My words 1697 will surely 6965 stand 6965 against 5921 you for harm 7463a.’

 44:30 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘Behold 2009, I am going to give 5414 over Pharaoh 6548 Hophra 6548 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 to the hand 3027 of his enemies 340, to the hand 3027 of those who seek 1245 his life 5315, just 3512c as I gave 5414 over Zedekiah 6667 king 4428 of Judah 3063 to the hand 3027 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894, [who was] his enemy 340 and was seeking 1245 his life 5315.’”
