Jeremiah 13

1 In the type of a linen girdle, hidden at Euphrates, God prefigureth the destruction of his people. 12 Under the parable of the bottles filled with wine he foretelleth their drunkeness in misery. 15 He exhorteth to prevent their future judgments. 22 He sheweth their abominations are the cause thereof.

 13:1 Thus 3541 the LORD 3068 said 559 to me, “Go 1980 and buy 7069 yourself a linen 6593 waistband 232 and put 7760 it around 5921 your waist 4975, but do not put 935 it in water 4325.”

 13:2 So I bought 7069 the waistband 232 in accordance with the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 and put 7760 it around 5921 my waist 4975.

 13:3 Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to me a second 8145 time 8145, saying 559,

 13:4 “Take 3947 the waistband 232 that you have bought 7069, which 834 is around 5921 your waist 4975, and arise 6965, go 1980 to the Euphrates 6578 and hide 2934 it there 8033 in a crevice 5357 of the rock 5553.”

 13:5 So I went 1980 and hid 2934 it by the Euphrates 6578, as the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 me.

 13:6 After 4480 many 7227a days 3117 the LORD 3068 said 559 to me, “Arise 6965, go 1980 to the Euphrates 6578 and take 3947 from there 8033 the waistband 232 which 834 I commanded 6680 you to hide 2934 there 8033.”

 13:7 Then I went 1980 to the Euphrates 6578 and dug 2658, and I took 3947 the waistband 232 from the place 4725 where 834 8033 I had hidden 2934 it; and lo 2009, the waistband 232 was ruined 7843, it was totally 3605 worthless 3808 6743b.

 13:8 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to me, saying 559,

 13:9 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘Just 3602 so 3602 will I destroy 7843 the pride 1347b of Judah 3063 and the great 7227a pride 1347b of Jerusalem 3389.

 13:10 ‘This 384 wicked 7451a people 5971a, who 3987 refuse 3987 to listen 8085 to My words 1697, who walk 1980 in the stubbornness 8307 of their hearts 3820 and have gone 1980 after 310 other 312 gods 430 to serve 5647 them and to bow 7812 down 7812 to them, let them be just like this 384 waistband 232 which 834 is totally 3605 worthless 3808 6743b.

 13:11 ‘For as the waistband 232 clings 1692 to the waist 4975 of a man 376, so 3651 I made the whole 3605 household 1004 of Israel 3478 and the whole 3605 household 1004 of Judah 3063 cling 1692 to Me,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘that they might be for Me a people 5971a, for renown 8034, for praise 8416 and for glory 8597; but they did not listen 8085.’

 13:12 ¶ “Therefore you are to speak 559 this 384 word 1697 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, “Every 3605 jug 5035a is to be filled 4390 with wine 3196.”’ And when they say 559 to you, ‘Do we not very 3045 well 3045 know 3045 that every 3605 jug 5035a is to be filled 4390 with wine 3196?’

 13:13 then say 559 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009 I am about to fill 4390 all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of this 384 land 776—the kings 4428 that sit 3427 for David 1732 on his throne 3678, the priests 3548, the prophets 5030 and all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of Jerusalem 3389—with drunkenness 7943!

 13:14 “I will dash 5310a them against 413 each 376 other 251, both the fathers 1 and the sons 1121 together 3164a,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068. “I will not show 2550 pity 2550 nor 3808 be sorry 2347 nor 3808 have 7355 compassion 7355 so as not to destroy 7843 them.”’”

 13:15 ¶ Listen 8085 and give 238 heed 238, do not be haughty 1361b, For the LORD 3068 has spoken 1696.

 13:16 Give 5414 glory 3519b to the LORD 3068 your God 430, Before 2962 He brings 2821 darkness 2821 And before 2962 your feet 7272 stumble 5062 On the dusky 5399 mountains 2022, And while you are hoping 6960a for light 216 He makes 7760 it into deep 6757 darkness 6757, [And] turns 7896 [it] into gloom 6205.

 13:17 But if 518 you will not listen 8085 to it, My soul 5315 will sob 1058 in secret 4565 for [such] pride 1466; And my eyes 5869 will bitterly 1830 weep 1830 And flow 3381 down 3381 with tears 1832, Because 3588 the flock 5739 of the LORD 3068 has been taken 7617 captive 7617.

 13:18 Say 559 to the king 4428 and the queen 1377 mother 1377, “Take 3427 a lowly 8213 seat 3427, For your beautiful 8597 crown 5850 Has come 3381 down 3381 from your head 4763.”

 13:22 “If 3588 you say 559 in your heart 3824, ‘Why 4069 have these 428 things 428 happened 7122 to me?’ Because of the magnitude 7230 of your iniquity 5771 Your skirts 7757 have been removed 1540 And your heels 6119 have been exposed 2554.

 13:24 “Therefore I will scatter 6327a them like drifting 5674a straw 7179 To the desert 4057b wind 7307.

 13:25 “This 2088 is your lot 1486, the portion 4521 measured 4055 to you From Me,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “Because 834 you have forgotten 7911 Me And trusted 982 in falsehood 8267.

 13:26 “So I Myself 589 have also 1571 stripped 2834 your skirts 7757 off 2834 over 5921 your face 6440, That your shame 7036 may be seen 7200.

 13:27 “As for your adulteries 5004 and your [lustful] neighings 4684, The lewdness 2154 of your prostitution 2184 On the hills 1389 in the field 7704, I have seen 7200 your abominations 8251. Woe 188 to you, O Jerusalem 3389! How 4970 long 310 4970 5750 will you remain 2891 unclean 3808 2891?”
