Jeremiah 25

1 Jeremiah reproving the Jews' disobedience to the prophets, 8 foretelleth the seventy years' captivity, 12 and after that, the destruction of Babylon. 15 Under the type of a cup of wine he foresheweth the destruction of all nations. 34 The howling of the shepherds.

 25:1 The word 1697 that came 1961 to Jeremiah 3414 concerning 5921 all 3605 the people 5971a of Judah 3063, in the fourth 7243 year 8141 of Jehoiakim 3079 the son 1121 of Josiah 2977, king 4428 of Judah 3063 (that was the first 7224 year 8141 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894),

 25:2 which 834 Jeremiah 3414 the prophet 5030 spoke 1696 to all 3605 the people 5971a of Judah 3063 and to all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of Jerusalem 3389, saying 559,

 25:3 “From the thirteenth 7969 6240 year 8141 of Josiah 2977 the son 1121 of Amon 526, king 4428 of Judah 3063, even to this 2088 day 3117, these 2088 twenty-three 6242 7969 years 8141 the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 has come 1961 to me, and I have spoken 1696 to you again 7925 and again 1696, but you have not listened 8085.

 25:4 “And the LORD 3068 has sent 7971 to you all 3605 His servants 5650 the prophets 5030 again 7925 and again 7971, but you have not listened 8085 nor 3808 inclined 5186 your ear 241 to hear 8085,

 25:5 saying 559, ‘Turn 7725 now 4994 everyone 376 from his evil 7451a way 1870 and from the evil 7455 of your deeds 4611, and dwell 3427 on the land 127 which 834 the LORD 3068 has given 5414 to you and your forefathers 1 forever 4480 5769 and ever 5769;

 25:6 and do not go 1980 after 310 other 312 gods 430 to serve 5647 them and to worship 7812 them, and do not provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707 with the work 4639 of your hands 3027, and I will do 7489a you no 3808 harm 7489a.’

 25:7 “Yet you have not listened 8085 to Me,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “in order 4616 that you might provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707 with the work 4639 of your hands 3027 to your own harm 7451b.

 25:8 ¶ “Therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Because 3282 834 you have not obeyed 8085 My words 1697,

 25:9 behold 2009, I will send 7971 and take 3947 all 3605 the families 4940 of the north 6828,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘and [I will send] to Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894, My servant 5650, and will bring 935 them against 5921 this 384 land 776 and against 5921 its inhabitants 3427 and against 5921 all 3605 these 428 nations 1471 round 5439 about 5439; and I will utterly 2763a destroy 2763a them and make 7760 them a horror 8047 and a hissing 8322, and an everlasting 5769 desolation 2723.

 25:10 ‘Moreover, I will take 6 from them the voice 6963 of joy 8342 and the voice 6963 of gladness 8057, the voice 6963 of the bridegroom 2860a and the voice 6963 of the bride 3618, the sound 6963 of the millstones 7347 and the light 216 of the lamp 5216.

 25:11 ‘This 2088 whole 3605 land 776 will be a desolation 2723 and a horror 8047, and these 428 nations 1471 will serve 5647 the king 4428 of Babylon 894 seventy 7657 years 8141.

 25:12 ¶ ‘Then it will be when seventy 7657 years 8141 are completed 4390 I will punish 6485 the king 4428 of Babylon 894 and that nation 1471,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘for their iniquity 5771, and the land 776 of the Chaldeans 3778; and I will make 7760 it an everlasting 5769 desolation 8077.

 25:13 ‘I will bring 935 upon that land 776 all 3605 My words 1697 which 834 I have pronounced 1696 against 5921 it, all 3605 that is written 3789 in this 2088 book 5612 which 834 Jeremiah 3414 has prophesied 5012 against 5921 all 3605 the nations 1471.

 25:14 ‘(For many 7227a nations 1471 and great 1419 kings 4428 will make 5647 slaves 5647 of them, even 1571 them; and I will recompense 7999a them according to their deeds 6467 and according to the work 4639 of their hands 3027.)’”

 25:15 ¶ For thus 3541 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, says 559 to me, “Take 3947 this 384 cup 3563a of the wine 3196 of wrath 2534 from My hand 3027 and cause all 3605 the nations 1471 to whom 834 I send 7971 you to drink 8248 it.

 25:16 “They will drink 8354 and stagger 1607 and go 1984b mad 1984b because 4480 6440 of the sword 2719 that I will send 7971 among 996 them.”

 25:17 ¶ Then I took 3947 the cup 3563a from the LORD’S 3068 hand 3027 and made all 3605 the nations 1471 to whom 834 the LORD 3068 sent 7971 me drink 8248 it:

 25:18 Jerusalem 3389 and the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and its kings 4428 [and] its princes 8269, to make 5414 them a ruin 2723, a horror 8047, a hissing 8322 and a curse 7045, as it is this 2088 day 3117;

 25:19 Pharaoh 6547 king 4428 of Egypt 4714, his servants 5650, his princes 8269 and all 3605 his people 5971a;

 25:20 and all 3605 the foreign 6154a people 6154a, all 3605 the kings 4428 of the land 776 of Uz 5780, all 3605 the kings 4428 of the land 776 of the Philistines 6430 (even Ashkelon 831, Gaza 5804a, Ekron 6138 and the remnant 7611 of Ashdod 795);

 25:21 Edom 112b, Moab 4124 and the sons 1121 of Ammon 5983;

 25:22 and all 3605 the kings 4428 of Tyre 6865, all 3605 the kings 4428 of Sidon 6721 and the kings 4428 of the coastlands 339 which 834 are beyond 5676 the sea 3220;

 25:23 and Dedan 1719, Tema 8485, Buz 938 and all 3605 who cut 7112 the corners 6285 [of their hair];

 25:24 and all 3605 the kings 4428 of Arabia 6152a and all 3605 the kings 4428 of the foreign 6154a people 6154a who dwell 7931 in the desert 4057b;

 25:25 and all 3605 the kings 4428 of Zimri 2174b, all 3605 the kings 4428 of Elam 5867a and all 3605 the kings 4428 of Media 4074;

 25:26 and all 3605 the kings 4428 of the north 6828, near 7138 and far 7350, one 376 with another 251; and all 3605 the kingdoms 4467 of the earth 776 which 834 are upon the face 6440 of the ground 127, and the king 4428 of Sheshach 8347 shall drink 8354 after 310 them.

 25:27 ¶ “You shall say 559 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, “Drink 8354, be drunk 7937, vomit 7006c, fall 5307 and rise 6965 no 3808 more because 4480 6440 of the sword 2719 which 834 I will send 7971 among 996 you.”’

 25:28 “And it will be, if 3588 they refuse 3985 to take 3947 the cup 3563a from your hand 3027 to drink 8354, then you will say 559 to them, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635: “You shall surely 8354 drink 8354!

 25:29 “For behold 2009, I am beginning 2490c to work 7489a calamity 7489a in [this] city 5892b which 834 is called 7121 by My name 8034, and shall you be completely 5352 free 5352 from punishment 5352? You will not be free 5352 from punishment 5352; for I am summoning 7121 a sword 2719 against 5921 all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of the earth 776,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.’

 25:30 ¶ “Therefore you shall prophesy 5012 against 413 them all 3605 these 428 words 1697, and you shall say 559 to them, ‘The LORD 3068 will roar 7580 from on high 4791 And utter 5414 His voice 6963 from His holy 6944 habitation 4583; He will roar 7580 mightily 7580 against 5921 His fold 5116a. He will shout 1959 like those who tread 1869 [the grapes], Against 413 all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of the earth 776.

 25:31 ‘A clamor 7588 has come 935 to the end 7097a of the earth 776, Because 3588 the LORD 3068 has a controversy 7379 with the nations 1471. He is entering 8199 into judgment 8199 with all 3605 flesh 1320; As for the wicked 7563, He has given 5414 them to the sword 2719,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068.”

 25:32 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, “Behold 2009, evil 7463a is going 3318 forth 3318 From nation 1471 to nation 1471, And a great 1419 storm 5591a is being stirred 5782 up From the remotest 3411 parts 3411 of the earth 776.

 25:33 ¶ “Those slain 2491a by the LORD 3068 on that day 3117 will be from one end 7097a of the earth 776 to the other 7097a 776. They will not be lamented 5594, gathered 622 or buried 6912; they will be like dung 1828 on the face 6440 of the ground 127.

 25:34 “Wail 3213, you shepherds 7462a, and cry 2199; And wallow 6428 [in ashes], you masters 117 of the flock 6629; For the days 3117 of your slaughter 2873 and your dispersions 8600a have come 4390, And you will fall 5307 like a choice 2532 vessel 3627.

 25:35 “Flight 4498 will perish 6 from the shepherds 7462a, And escape 6413 from the masters 117 of the flock 6629.

 25:36 “[Hear] the sound 6963 of the cry 6818 of the shepherds 7462a, And the wailing 3215 of the masters 117 of the flock 6629! For the LORD 3068 is destroying 7703 their pasture 4830,

 25:37 “And the peaceful 7965 folds 5116c are made 1826a silent 1826a Because 4480 6440 of the fierce 2740 anger 639 of the LORD 3068.

 25:38 “He has left 5800a His hiding 5520 place 5520 like the lion 3715; For their land 776 has become 1961 a horror 8047 Because 4480 6440 of the fierceness 2740 of the oppressing 3238 [sword] And because 4480 6440 of His fierce 2740 anger 639.”
